Kept getting calls from this number w/no voice mail. Given I'm in the midst of a job search, I gave it the benefit of the doubt this time and answered. "Alan" from Career Search told he was calling in response to my having visited jobs.com and 'requested information about furthering my education or getting a professional certification'. Told him I'd made no such request and hung up. Thanks to Google Voice I'm able to block the number...

I get a lot of calls at all times of the day from this number.. It started out as a text message from a job I applied for online for a Medical Data Entry Clerk. I got a cal from a woman who called herself Elaine. I got a cal from a number that asked for my social over the phone at which point I hung up. NowI am getting calls from this number nonstop...
BEWARE
I se Scam all over this as no job should EVER ask for a SS # over the phone.

Numerous calls with no message from this number. Only thing I can think of was I went on a University of Phoenix website. Could it be that ? I gave no info
employee 2011-06-06 21:03:44 Unknown
I have worked for this company for several months now. Your information is not sold, it is forwarded, read the fine print. If you don't want calls then a: actually go out and look for a job rather than posting it online b: let them know you want to speak to a supervisor (good way to skip the 48 hr wait). Rest assured we are not a scam. We simply forward your information to the schools of your choice for them to contact you. The information you give us is something anyone could easily find anywhere from facebook to a simple yellowpage. If your getting a bunch of call this is because multiple affiliated sites have been visited in which they will forward your information to us, causing multiple dials. This company has been around for quite a while and rest assured we have always been in complete obidience with ftc regulations. You guys aren't the first to try to throw law suits, rest assured.

Lots of hang ups if I don't answer. If I do answer, just selling services and education.

E-mailing them at nothankyou@careeradvisor1.com does NOT stop the calls.
I received ANOTHER call tonight after being e-mailed by them a WEEK ago that they would remove me from their list in 48 hours. Told them I had e-mailed them, was told they would stop calling, and then I requested, once again, that they stop calling and take me off their list.
I've e-mailed them AGAIN to complain that they did not stop calling after 48 hours as promised.
FYI: My e-mail and their response is posted below:

Tue, August 3, 2010 10:28:58 PMTake me off your call list
From: Brian Bxxxxxx <brianbxxxxxx@myemail.com
To: nothankyou@careeradvisor1.com
When I signed up at Job.com, via hotjobs, I requested information on actual jobs, NOT educational degrees. I also requested to be contacted for JOBS ONLY via e-mail.
Keep getting calls from 866-927-5206, even though I told the initial caller I was not interested-- 3 to 4 calls a DAY!
When the phone goes to message machine, caller simply HANGS UP. Rude. Annoying. Harrassment.
PLEASE take me off your call list immediately. I did Not consciously sign up for this.
Sincerely,
Brian Bxxxxxx

They have called me 3 times in one day. I don't know who it is, and they don't leave a message!
Jay 2011-06-06 21:03:44 Unknown
They have been calling me for the past 3 weeks. I finally picked up a call that came in at 930PM and asked him if he knew what time it was and he hung up on me before I could finish asking him to put me on the do not call list. How do you stop these annoying phone calls?
Straightup411 2011-06-06 21:03:44 Unknown
I wrote customer service at job.com, where I was initially forced to sign up in order to apply for a posted job at hotjobs (i believe it's affiliated with yahoo). When signing up, I had requested that I be sent information only on jobs, not career education. I requested all contact take place via e-mail. Well, I got a call from 866-927-5206. Told them I wasn't interested, I already had 2 degrees and needed a JOB. They have since called 3 to 4 times a day. If no one answers, they just hang up, no message. SO...
Here's an excerpt of what I wrote to customer service at job.com : "Please do not forward my information, as INITIALLY REQUESTED to educational degree paper mills. I wish to receive information on actual jobs ONLY. If this does NOT occur immediately, I will report your site/service to the better business bureau et al." Have no idea if this will help. Oh, and that initial job posting? Although it promoted free training at absolutely NO cost, there was actually an initial investment in software and equipment and NO guarantee that this would lead to any type of work. Any class action suits against these online job searching sites like job.com or hotjobs?? Anyone?

Get calls every day for the past month any time between 8 A.M and 11 P.M. Told them not interested several times. Still call.
malceor 2011-06-06 21:03:44 Unknown
This number is a SCAM it is an attempt to steal your identity. When i picked up i heard my voice echoing in the background which lead me to believe that they were recording me. After i figured that out i made the call as difficult for them as possible i stumbled over my words and gave them a fake SSN. After they called me a second time to get more accurate info i spoke in fake accents jumped around 4 different languages and a couple i made up too and after 10-15mins of German, Spanish, British English, Japanese, and Gibberish they finally hung up. This is the only thing u can do to get them to stop the number is based in China which is how they r getting around the no call list law which means that the FCC can't help and neither can the FTC the only person that can help you is yourself and i hope that my story can help everyone

I got a call from this number, they could hardly speak english. They ask who I was, and I didn't give out any information. I told them to stop calliing my number. By law if you tell them to stop calling they have to. I also had post my resume on a few websites, so I will not be answering if this number calls me. If it continues I will call my phone carrier and report it.

LBIZZLE 2011-06-06 21:03:44 Unknown
HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO ME...STARTED OFF ASKING PERSONAL INFORMATION WAS DEFINITELY FOREIGN. I TOLD HIM I WASN'T INTERESTED AND HUNG UP, BUT I HIGHLY DOUBT IT'S CAREER ADVISORS HE DIDN'T EVEN STOP FOR A SECOND TO REALLY SEE IF I UNDERSTOOD THE NATURE OF THE CALL. HE JUST KEPT ATTEMPTING TO GET INFORMATION FROM ME, I SHOT HIM DOWN AND JUST HUNG UP THE PHONE.
BULL CRAP!!!! 2011-06-06 21:03:44 Unknown
IT MAY NOT BE A CRIME TO ASK IF YOU WERE INTERESTED ONCE. IF YOU TOLD THEM NO AND ASK TO HAVE THEM TAKEN OFF THEIR LIST? THEN WHY THE REPEAT CALLS? AT DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY? FOR WEEKS? HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE PUT THROUGH THAT ABUSE? YOU EITHER HAVE NO CLUE TO WHAT YOU'RE SAYING, OR MUST BE EMPLOYED BY THIS COMPANY?
kings 2011-06-06 21:03:44 Unknown
that call s from carrier advisor, they ll help people to find schools for further their education., its not a crime if they asking if u r interested to study., many people r getting benifited from them., so if u dont like them to call u just inform them, they ll put ur num in do not call list, they wont call u guyz anymore., by students benifited by them:-)
