Do not send them any money even if you are trying to get them in trouble. Once you pay them you open up a 7 year statue that has already passed and soon as they receive it they can put a lean on your credit for the next 7 years. This is the scam they are actully doing and it is totally leagal. Now repersenting themselves as a police officer is not leagal and your police should be investigating it.

I received a call this morning and was told by a woman (who refused to give a name) that I was to report to Arapahoe County Court for malicious intent.  I tried to explain my dire situation and was starting to ask questions about the debt in question when I realized she called me at 7:20 MST.  According to FDCPA that is illegal!  I asked her about why she is calling that early she told me that she does not have to comply to FDCPA laws.  She said "they" are not a collection agency.  I tried to get an address for them and a company name and she continued to refuse the information.  She then hung up on me.  I called back several times and each time my call was forwarded to her.  She would say "good luck trying to resolve this" and "you have an attitude, so I am refusing to help you out of this situation".  One of the times I called a representative answered "Legal Action Recovery", but when I spoke with the representative I was told that if I call them back they will file harassment charges against me!  I've done collections before and am appalled by the way these people are going about the situation.  I know that everything that was said and not said was illegal but it still had me a little shook!  But thanks for the information, I am going to report this.  If I receive any more calls I will notate here.

I got a call today from this Same 8772013399 and they were looking for my mom. Okay my mom doesn't even have my home number!! Due to her calling way too much at night but how did they get my number they said she put me down as a contact number but if she don't know the number how the **** do they?

These guys are a very irratating joke. They were profiled on 60 min. or 20/20 a while back. First report them to your local police. If they are calling you about your or a relitives debt, they're doing the same to your neighbors also. I live in a small town and they don't take kindly to this sort of thing, it might not be as effective in a large city. If the local PD gets enough calls they will either forward it to the local DA for investigation or will trace the number and contact the local PD where the number is located, and ask them to have their DA do something about it. Be sure to report them to the FTC with date and time of the harrasing call(s).file an individal complaint for EACH CALL. (This will come in handy if there is ever a civil suit against these jokers and THEY have to pay, 25 calls sounds better than "all the time") Make sure your local police take AND file a report of "Telephonic Harasment" for EACH CALL, if you can, save and play EACH CALL for the police(same voice different name,ect...). One call is a mistake, 2 or 3 is pushing it, 4 or more it becomes a crime, if you file a police report. If they're calling about you or not, tell them "I'm sorry you have the wrong number. Please don't call here again." That's all you should ever say if they call you. Other state and local laws may apply. Second: Call the phone company, explain that you are reciving harrasing calls from that number, and that you filed a repot(s) the police and ask them if there is anything they can do to help you on their end. P.S. Don't mention the FTC, they may assume it's a legitimate debt collector that your trying to avoid. Third: You need caller ID block for this so they won't see your number. Have a bad day a work and come home to find out the puppy pooped on the carpet. Pick up the phone and CALL THEM, yes them. Say "This is Mr./Ms./Mrs.(made up name) and the message said my case number is(made up number). Whats this about?!" They will be confused and start asking you questions, DON'T ANSWER THEM. Just start yelling about how they called you and and how are YOU supposed to know what this is about, that they should be telling you, and how you just steped in dog s**t, ect, ect,. When they hang up, call them back and say, "How dare you hang up on me........" . Keep doing it untill your done venting. Forth: Consider filing a civil suit against them localy. Use the info from steps one and two to go to your local magistrate and file a civil complaint, ask for something like $500 to $1000 per call over the 4th call(total $$ will determin where you file and usualy costs around $25). They wont show in response, and you'll get a default judgement.Place a lien on their property, and after 90 days, have it seized by the local sheriffs for sale and restitution. Four is a little out there, but if you have the time and money..... But follow steps one and two, cops and DA's have more important things to do, and they will treat these guys like the irritating flies that they are, and squash them. This is why they move and change their name slighty, the heat is on.

Welcome to Louisiana.  My call was from Special Investigator Karen Hutley.  Same story.  Complaint filed against me naming me to be the respondent.  Contact them to avoid a court order from my parish.  If I don't contact them, litigation proceedings will be filed against me in court.

These people called my fathers house asking to collect a debt for 1600 for a payday loan for my ex-husband. They told him if he did not pay 860 to settle they would sepona me.So I called back and spoke to a lady who would try to "help" me. Then he came on the line saying see me in court good luck with that. I asked for his name and company name since I do not owe this and he said he did not have to give me that. Like I would say ok have my money. Then I told him if he could not handle a adult situation in a adult manor I was at work and had to go. He said oh sorry I'm sure you have burgers to flip and get my fries ready.so these people have no real claims and are rude he said he would show up at my door to get the money. I'm calling police dept now.

My parents received a call from these people last week looking for me. After setting up appropriate measures to be able to record the call, I returned the call. I informed them that the call was being recorded which, amazingly, the guy I spoke with, "Special Investigator Hawthorne", had no problem with that. One of the 1st things the guy did was to announce that they were in the process of beginning civil litigation against me regarding a supposed Payday Loan from 2005 (I have never used a payday loan company). He openly admits that his "Client has purchased the debt with intention of taking me to court". I informed the guy that by stating there was an intent of legal action to my mother, he violated the FDCPA". He attempted to claim that they were not a collection agency, however, since the FDCPA defines it as:

"any person who uses any instrumentality of interstate commerce or the mails in any business the principal purpose of which is the collection of any debts, or who regularly collects or attempts to collect, directly or indirectly, debts owed or due or asserted to be owed or due another"

The guy has no idea obviously. I informed him that he was not to initiate further contact with my family, and hung up. The entire conversation was recorded, with his approval, so I kind of hope they call again so I can initiate a lawsuit with several violations of the FDCPA.

Oh, one more thing about the above call. When I asked the guy about the original debt, he said he did not have the details of the original debt, all he had was "The pre trial amount owed plus interest."

Thats where I cut him off and told him that there would be no court action and to cease all communications attempts. Obviously, even if this were a legit company that was intending to go to court, they would know every detail about the original debt, including the amount owed. No court in the country is going to give a financial award to someone who is unable to provide proof of the debt in its entirety.

Luke Hawthorn left a message on my Mother's machine saying that I was being named as a defendent in a case in a county I used to live in.....I am so glad I found this site before I gave out any vital information.  They said if I didn't call within 48 hrs. a warrent would be issued for my arrest.

"Special Investigator Hawthorne" was unfortunate enough to call my brother who is in sales, who is really good at his job, I mean amazingly good at his job. At first, my brother was a bit worried, thinking that I was in danger somewhere and this was a law enforcement official trying to contact him. When he saw the 877 #, he realized it was a scam, and he said he wanted  to "light the guy up" playing with him and messing with his head. LOL. I said he was good that his job.


I called the guy back, painstakingly got some info out of him in between the doublespeak, threats, and $1 SAT words, and told him I wasn't really impressed. They guy tried to hurl a lame insult at me by saying something about my brother, and I laughed so hard I think I hurt his ear. My family is from NYC, so you have to be a lot better than this foolish man at insults or threats for me to take you any where close to seriously.


I worry about senior citizens who might get physically upset or ill at the illegal and immoral tactics and threats this man makes over the phone.

I too recieve a call from these people. They call at my sister house lookin for me for a civil action for a debt that happen years ago. I told the so call LT to call my bankruptcy attorney she hung up on me.

As all of you, I received a call from these bottom feeders today as well.  I let it go to voice mail so I could have a record of it saved.  Heck, I even found out today after reconnecting with an old friend that they left him a message as well looking for me.  I haven't spoke to him in 14+ years until recently, so this shows me they are trying to collect on old debt that is either paid off, or forgiven, or something like that.

I have reported them to the FTC and the Iowa Attorney Generals office.  I called them back just now and oddly got their voice mail, and I politely let them know that I expect no future calls to my number, or I will be filing a police report, and then filing a LEGAL lawsuit against them.

Bottom line, as everyone has posted before, NEVER give these bottom feeders any of your information since it is a SCAM.

I got a call from these people--didn't asnwer the phone. I don't owe anyone anything and never have renegged on a bill.  My credit score is in the high 770's and I have been checking my scores for 10 years now.  I've never seen an unpaid bill on my report--if it existed, I would have paid it.  I don't know who these people are, but I'm sure they are up to no good.

Keep getting calls from this number when I tell them they have wrong number they say they will remove but keep calling the little prick that calls is an obvious amatuer collector.

877-201-3399 Investigator Lynn Barrick regarding a civil complaint. They are looking for my sister. Referenced the county she lives in, they know where she is, I think she is still on community corrections. They said to " be prepared for a summons or court order at your residence or place of employment if you do not respond. Gave me a case number. Not sure how legit because of all the other issues she has. After looking this up, I am not worried about passing on the message.

I recieved a phone call from a "special investigator" about a legal matter involving my boyfriend. He has identified himself as robert crowley and has even harrassed my boyfriends family until they gave up my cell number. I told them they could mail him whatever paperwork they had regaurding the matter and they refused. The man stated that they had trie to contact him by mail several times with no response. I told the caller that I was driving and had no way to write down any information and he just kept repeating that he had to talk to my boyfriend in this matter and would not listen to anything I had to say. I called the company back at 877-201-3399 and a woman answered the phone and when i asked to have my number removed from the contact list she hung up. THIS IS A SCAM AND YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION!

My sister called me today around noon to tell me that this woman call and said that I need to call her, or they will take action against me. So i call this lady Mrs. Robertson and ask her what company she worked for and she told me Legal action and she explained what they were about after gave my name, she told me that my debt was sold to them and that I owed 1125.36 and that they can take some off if I paid them and would not have a sheriff come to my house so I said ok. I then was transferred to a Victor who was very ruid and ugly, he got mad because I asked him how do I know that I took the loan out, I did not remember doing that in 2006. He asked me why I was trying to argue and I told him I wasnt I want to make sure not paying for some one else, he then got very ruined and told me a sheriff would come serve me, and then hung up I called back and he got back on phone and I asked how would I be served when they didnt know my home address or number he said they would find me and that i was ruined and hung up on me again. Well at this point my husband called back and they gave him to Victor and he said let me guess your the husband of the raacest b***h, my husband replied with you dont know her and said what he had to and Victor told him they could do what they want and said really things. So when he hung up I did some calling around and found out who sold him that and called them I expained to the lady I spoke with what Victor had said and she said I only owed 370.00 and that she will fix everything and that she will pass on to boss what had happened, she said she didnt know why they said I owed so much. I then hung up with her and called Victor back and told him now he cant do thing and he said that he still can and will and asked me why I was raceist and I asked him why he thinks that he said way I talk and I saidd well I am mexican and have mixed twin boys and he hung up on me. I then called the FTC and they are going to look into it. So every one be carefull these people are very dirty and lie about everything.  The FTC said they will contact me they are done looking into it will let you know what they say.

Investigator Rose Benson called my fathers house making the very same comments as you can read in every case. I went to our Police Dept. and I was told that unless they receive money from me they can not file a legal complaint for fraud against LEGAL ACTION INVESTIGATORS in Marietta, Ga unless they get money from me. So people get their address and send them a certified check for $1.00 Dll. so you will be out a dollar but they will be out of business and with any luck they will do time.

Received a call from these people today.  Very threatening and they were looking for a cousin I haven't seen in years.  I filled out an FTC complaint.  They should not leave that kind of information on just anyone's phone.  They have no idea who I am.

Anyone who wants to complain about this company should report them to the Attorney General as the business is run out of that state and the attorney general is responsible to investigate fraudulant businesses.  If they get enough complaints something might be done.

Also, impersonating a police office is a federal offense and the attorney general should also be able to direct you to the appropriate agency if they identified themselves as a police officer.

On January 17, 2010 we reported our call and filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Today January 28,2010 we received a phone call from the New York Attorney Generals office Buffalo regional Office. They are developing a case against this company, and informed us that the owner of the company is now incarcerated. Apparently the FTC is forwarding all complaints to them. If you want action file your complaints with the FTC.

i got a call from this number today.a detective lou harlthorn said i will be served with a warrant to go to court in my county within 72 hours if i don't return the call.i know it is a collection agent because i talked to the police department here in my town.

The person said to call this number back-877-201-3399,I was to get in touch with him or my lawyer was to get in touch with him ASAP! He also said that failure to do so would result in a sheriff showing up at my residence or my place of employment?? I am not going to call and I really think this is a bogus call trick!! Since he has asked for a Robin Clark and that  was 2 married names ago for me?? He also gave a case # as a reference for me and said that someone has filed a complaint against me at his office?? Really it sounds like a dumn trick! For some reason they are calling about a debt collection,I will bet $ on it!!

I was called at 6:30 am on a Saturday looking for Harland Tipton.They said he had used my wifes name as an emergency contact and saying something about a citation in court. I mentioned my wife works at the local court and they quickly excused themselves. This was a follow up call after two other calls threatening legal action also. The name given is Investigator Rachel Falkner and a case number.

Our call came to my Husbands Dad this morning.  I was givin the number and I called.  The lady that left the message was an Investigator Hawthorn.  When I got on the phone I didn't have a ref. number so Luke Hawthorn looked it up and told me that my husband owed over $800 on a payday loan we took out online in 2007.  I kept asking him what was the name of the company who is "sueing" me because we have not taken any loans out Nor have we received any bills or calls from anyone.  He said the company is tired of sending us bills only for us to ignore.  He gave me the bank name of who we bank with now.  I told him if I owed them, they why are they not calling us directly.  He said he didn't have that info and that the loan company sold the debt to a Jeff Mick and Associates and they were hired by them to find Kyle.  I told Luke that all he had to do is type in my husbands name in Google and you will not only find all kinds of stuff on him (because my husband is very well known in the theater and used to always be in the paper) and we own our own business that is online complete with info on how to get a hold of us.  Not to mention the white pages, yada yada.  I kept asking him for the original debt owner and he said they do not have it, then I said we will not pay anything.  He kept saying he was not a debt collector but was just here to inform us that we will go to court if we don't settle this today.....OK WHAT!??!?  so he is not there to collect a debt but if we don't pay we go to court?  I asked him what he wanted from me today and he gave me a choice to pay the settlement payment of $541.  I said I wasn't going to pay and I wanted answers to the original debt owner.  Finally he said he would let me talk to his superviser to see if he could get more info for me.  I talked to a Timothy Duff?  (very slurred and sounded like Luke)  He kept telling me the same thing.  I asked him who hired him and he said that was confidential to protect his client.  I then told him that Luke had already told me who it was and he said, "Well we have a lot of clients so it could have been".  I told him I would not pay the debt without the original name so I can call them, he finally gave me a name of Pro Solutions and said that they own a lot of PayDay Loans and that they would not talk to me if I contacted them.  I finally got tired of all of the run around so I told him just that.  He then told me that I was giving him the runaround and that he was just going to hang up because they get paid by the hour and he didn't have time for this.  
So I called the number back and talked to a Rod Sawyer, (who sounded just like the other two guys) I told him I didn't like being hung up on and if he could nicely give me answers.  He told me the same thing but a few more things.  He proceeded to tell me that this is my husbands debt and that in the end it will be my husband who will suffer.  I told him I am married to him so this does affect me.  He just said well....... He said they could take the house and garnish, If I paid then he could give me the name of the creditor and the case number saying we are released.  Oh and this is pretty funny.  He said that they are not a collection agency and only collection agencies hang up on their clients.  The only reason I was hung up on is because they are paid by the hour.  I called our court house and there is no case against me.  I used to be a community corrections officer so I still have connections to the court house.  They told me (under the table of course) to call th FDCPA and threaten them with that. Oh and did I mention that our son's girlfriend is a police officer!!!  And that I still know many sherriffs officerss out here?  HAHA I will be calling anyone I can includin all of these in this post.

Okay, so here's the deal, my mother got a phone call today from this number, a Stanley Keystone, spoke with her asking if she knew my mother in-law. He continued to tell her that there was a civil complaint against my mother in-law, and that MY mother was listed as an emergency contact on "Her list".  So my mother asked, "What list would you have got this from? I maybe see her once or twice a year." The man then rudely replied, "Well, if you're not going to help me, then I will find someone who will!". So my mother asked for his info. and said she would track her down and give her the message. He even gave her a case number! My mother then called another number she found online, supposedly for reporting this type of incident, but she said after the last phone call, she didn't know who to believe, so she hung up after being put on hold. Does anyone on here know how I can go about reporting this, or for my mother to report this?

This is a company in Georgia that is making false, improper threats to debtors with incessant phone calls.  They have been reported before and should be put out of business...they are violating several of the laws of the US and the State of Georgia, where they operate from.

Someone called named Luke Hawthorne a claims investagator called. A court case file against him. Someone will serve him from the sheriff 's office in our parish. Hawthorne did not even pronounce the name right of the Sherriff who is suppose to serve me and said you have 48 hours to call the office. It sounds like a tape recorder because it is beeping throughout the message left. Thanks guys for the information on these jerks!! I will disregard the message.
