Unauthorized charge of $9.70 by "ALS" on bank card. Hope they
find who is doing this.
We seldom use the card except for automatic pay of long distance
phone calls or the water & other telephone bill.
Don't know that they ever called on the phone.

I am getting calls from this number regarding a debt they identified as from 1999. I don't remember any debt as they described and wonder why if I owed it why I had not been contacted since 1999. Any suggestions? Am I taking a chance ignoring it? It was described as a credit card debt and in my state, revolving debt is dead after 3 years of inactivity--so what should I do?

On reviewing my credit card statement I noticed $9.80 charged to my account on 8/4/08 by #ALS. I had no idea about who this company was. My bank gave me this number 877-211-1387 for the company. A lady answered saying they are fund raisers for some wierd disease. On me question about the charge she conected me over to another lady who asked for my name and number and said their finance department is going to call me back with details. This is a scam. I have no idea how they got hold of my credit card number. I have cancelled my card to avoid any further scams.

Yup.  Me too.  I was charged $9.80 without my permission (and no phone call either so I don't know how they found me).  The credit card company told me to call the 877 number.  I did that and LEFT MY PHONE NUMBER on their answering machine!  GREAT.  Now they have my phone # too!  I called the fraud dept. at my credit card company.  And yup . . . they said I need to shut down my card and get a new number. Seems to be the only answer until this problem becomes more widely known.

Someone is getting credit for the $9.70 debits to our accounts. I think the banks know who it is or should be able to determine where the funds are going. The banks should be more proactive in this regard.

I got a call from this number this morning. It was a recording asking me to hold for a representative. I don't know who they are, or what they wanted. I held for a few seconds, but wasn't going to be wait for a machine. The next time they call, they can leave a voicemail.

I got a charge on my Bank Account which is held at Wells Fargo. CHECK CRD PURCHASE 07/16 ALS 877-211-1387 9.75. I called the number and got voice message. Red Flag no company name on the message. I called Wells Fargo and I have cancelled my card. This is being reported to the fraud department and I am planning on filing a police report as well. It is not a lot of money but after checking on the Internet I am shocked that there are so many reports of this scam going back more than 8 months. I am not sure why the credit card companies and the banks have not blocked this charge on all accounts. I am also suspicious that most of the reported incidents are from Wells Fargo customers? I have reported this to WWW.FBI.GOV as well.

I checked online this afternoon, and noticed $9.70 was made to my checking account.  This really freaks me out since I don't recall buying anything from ALS. I did some research online and found others going through the same thing. I called my bank to cancel my card and dispute the charge. I hope I don't have to go through this with my new card..

Hi read your message. Join the National Do Not Call Registry (they DO accept cell numbers) Then, if someone calls, you can answer and or return the call and tell them NOT TO CALL and if they CONTINUE, you report them to the number they give you (the Registry) and if they are fined, YOU end up getting some money for it in some instances. Hope this helps.

i did not receive a call from these leeches, but they did charge my credit card for 9.70.

no new information to report, just the experience.

i have no idea how als services got my credit card number.

i attempted to use my credit card and it was declined.  called my bank and they had placed a hold on my card because of the charge of 9.70 -- so that was smart on the credit card company's part.

my card company sent me a new card with a new number and are investigating.

i can't believe that a company can get away with something like this.

contact your state attorney general's office and file a complaint.  i did.  (just google your state name and "attorney general" and wade through their web site).

It happened to me 2.  My credit card is esential to my busness.  I can handel the $9.80 but the bad guys are banking on the idea that it is not much money and that i will let it slide.  It would cost me (my business) more in down-time to get a new card.  Yes,  i'm angry at these crooks, but i can't aford to fix the problem.... I hope the FBI catches them soon.

Wasn't a call. There was a charge on my credit card bill for $9.75 from ALS 8772111387 MA. Had no idea what it was so I called the number. Got an automated answering service asking me for detailed information about the call. Credit card company called the number too, said it sounded like a scam, canceled the charge and put out a fraud alert. I also made a complaint to the FTC and FBI. Had to cancel my cards. I'm not letting this slide.

I have a similar story as most of the posts here.  I was reviewing my bill this month and saw the charge.  The first thing I did was Google the telephone number and found this thread.  I immediately called my credit card to dispute the charge.  They said their records had the company listed as Marketing.  They removed the charge for this month and adivsed me to call back next month if it reappears.  I have never had anything like this happen to me before.

I was just reviewing my Chase cc statement and noticed an unauthorized charge of $9.80 on 04/16/08 from ALS 877-211-1387 MA. I don?t recall receiving a phone call from that number. I very seldom use the credit card and the last time that I used it was about three months. So, I don?t know how they got my cc #! When I called the phone number, to make a dispute, it went directly to voice mail which didn?t identify the company. I had to call my cc provider and dispute the charge, which will be reflected on my next billing cycle! I decided to googled the # and found this website, which I am very thankful for. I hope this crooks get caught sooner than later!

If this has happened to so many people why haven?t banks, credit card companies and other authorities done anything? If it is in fact a collections agency they now have a name to go after, don?t they?

As an addendum to my earlier posting, I became extremely pi**ed after reading other folk's comments as well as brooding over my own situation, so I also filed a formal complaint with the FBI citing wire fraud as being a federal crime.  Sent it via their website at WWW.FBI.GOV  Figured that 10 minutes of my time (5 with each agency) was time well spent.  Good luck to all of you who experienced the same with these jerks at ALS.
