They called us yesterday with the same FPL story. Told us we were three months behind on our electric bill and they were going to shut it off. It's a scam. When I asked him for my account number he could not give it to me and said my account was blocked.

They said the way to keep the power in was to buy a "money pack" at Walgreens/wal mart. That this was a way the government was trying to collect its taxes.

In our case they had my wife's name and my name and our address.

They also spoke in Spanish as we are Spanish speakers

this is a scam...caller  said to pay electric bill now or electric would be cut off..........they  scammed  my  dad

0n 5/16/14 a male called my elderly parents telling them they had fallen behind on their electric bill, which was not true, and it was going to be disconnected in two hours but it could be prevented if they paid before that time. Caller told them to keep the power on they had to go to Walgreens and get a particular prepaid card.  They were to put a little over $300, the supposed electric bill in arrears, on the card and call 877-213-0022 when they had.  Caller's basic story was that if it was a mistake in the electric companies part it would be reimbursed in one or two days.
