After stopping for several months, they are back calling both my home phone and my cell phone including Sundays several times a day. I blocked my home number so it only rings once, but can't block my cell number or turn it off as I need it to receive specific calls.

They get paid a flat fee per call no matter the gift. It pays for employee, long distance and all of the mailers too. There are shady calling centers ived worked for them but mds is about as good as they come for ethics.

It dosent matter if u give ur gift direct. The charities will still pay mds to do their calling. We are decent people making a living. Non profits are not under the national dnc reg. Mds will put u on the list if you ask(employees suppose to). I know sometimes it dosent happen and it is a performanced based co like most call centers. Just be sure and ask to be put on their dnc list and if they dont the employee will get in trouble. Im not a jerk just trying to bring perspective here. Its the saying dont hate the player-hate the game

The problem is, people are receiving calls when they have already told them to remove them from their lists. Many companies (like MDS) take most of the money they make for "admin" purposes. So really, if they call, tell them to stop calling and take you off their lists, and donate directly to the charity of your choice. That way you can be sure your charity is getting 100% of your donation. If a solicitation company like this cannot get at least 90% of the donation to the charity, something's wrong.

I work for mds. Its not a bad company. We do raise funds for many great organizations. The reason you keep getting calls is you are not proactive. Answer the phone. Either tell them you have no intrest or ask to be removed from call list. The way they get youre number is by someone donating or signing a petition in support. It may have been you and you dont remember. They call for non profits which do not fall under the national dnc registry. The reason you keep getting calls is you hang up prior to call or tell them someones not there. They are trying to reach donor. Im a carpenter by trade but economy has me doing this now. No calling is perfect. Ignoring a prob wont make it go away. By the way they are paid a flat fee for calling. Its actually a good company with decent workforce. If you dont agree with the organizations we call for thats ok. There is no need to get hostile to a caller, they are not personally calling for youre money.. lighten up. Have a good day

Americans for Prosperity - aka Koch Brothers. Find out who your state director is and bother them at home every time you get a call. They are paid over $100,000 a year to spread propaganda and lies and promote the billionaire Koch brothers' agenda.
Also - watch the Greenwald Film - Koch Brothers Exposed. It will help you to understand who Americans for Prosperity really are. They are not a "grassroots organization" as they claim.

They take nonprofit donor lists and then telemarket the donors. Not necessarily giving any of the funds to the actual charity - just getting credit or debit card information from well meaning donors.

They are calling from the Obama regime trying to raise money for him after he already spent 10 Trillion of our dollars already. I really don't think he needs anymore, and he sure doesn't need any more time in office to spend more of my money. He does NOT know how to spend my money better than I and I won't give any more.

yeah, maybe they give a % to the charity they are calling about, but in the end I question if the said charity contacted them 1st . . getting doner list is not that hard to do . . got called on behalf of the republican party, from a guy who was reading a script about how much obama needed to go .. I started asking him a few 'political' questions, he didnt know squat about politics.
didn't even know the proper amounts that could be given to individual candidates . . .. If you want to donate to a political party . .donate directly
to that party. your dollars will be most effective that way

FURIE-OUS -
I'm with you on your "parting shot".
Just went to their do not call page and entered my home phone. I figure, how much worse can it get? Because they are calling for charity organizations, the Do Not Call Registry doesn't apply.
Per Their website -
A small sampling of our current ongoing clients include:
CARE International
Catholic Relief Services
Habitat for Humanity
American Bible Society
Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States

Many of these companies call and "support" great groups. HOWEVER, many of these companies that call actually only turn over about 5% to the organizations they are calling for. 80-90% goes straight to them as PROFITS. I never donate through third party groups.

MDS Communications is the name of this slippery bunch of privacy invaders - they rarely identify themselves. They call early & they call late - they are relentless! Here's a diabolical little ploy: MDS hides behind numerous unidentified phone numbers; so that, as soon as you call-block one, they'll call on another (G-R-R-R)! Here are some "decoy" numbers compiled by "Dixie": (I got calls from 3 in 1 day) 866-825-2610; 866-842-1465; 877-849-2372; 877-634-4434; 877-696-8597; 877-674-4280; 877-237-3945; 877-685-8491; 888-243-2981.
One plus is that MDS offers a do-not-call option. Simply go to their home page: http://mdscom.com/ & click the do-not-call button (top right) & follow directions. I'll let you know if it works.
A parting shot: MDS' PR states they raise funds for more non-profit clients than anyone. However, MDS' methods are so infuriatingly off-putting & onerous It strains credulity how anyone could possibly retain them to represent their organization!
