They call all the time and the message they  leave says that they have "sensitive information" with my name involved and they need a statement from me as soon as possible.  
What scam is this???

I got this too, said that they have an "urgent matter that I am unaware of"...???

This "company" has called many times.  Says it is a very important matter with a reference number but NEVER gives the name of their company or what this is about.  Left message at this number and said I will not respond if they don't give me info as to what this is about and their company name.  They called again and did not leave info I asked for.

Got two calls from this CRA company to my home phone voice mail.  Both times the caller identifoed herself as Samantha.  On one call she referenced case #582585 and the other time case #368931.  Seems they are trying to get in touch with someone who certainly never lived here nor is a member of our family - does not even have any of our family names.  Attempted to call back and get only music.   Samantha/CRA - please read this - you do not have the correct numberon these files.  they have left two different numbers for return calls:  877-253-4627  866-298-1590.

These people called me at work saying i was in violation of some federal law and that i was being brought to court on federal charges of fraud. LOL Turns out they were the ones violating state and federal laws by saying that to me.
It is illegal for a collection agency to:
1. Imply that the failure to pay a debt will result in imprisonment, arrest or garnishment of wages.
2. To call you at work when they know it is against your company rules to receive calls of this nature at work.
3. To talk with third parties such as children, neighbors or employers except to acquire your location information.
4. Cause the telephone to ring, or engage a person in telephone conversations, repeatedly or continuously, with the intent to annoy, abuse, or harass a consumer;
5. Threaten to take action such as filing a lawsuit when they did not intend to do so
6. Call consumers at times or places that they knew or should have known were inconvenient
7. Fail to notify consumers of their right to dispute and obtain verification of their debts, and to obtain the name of the original creditor.
8. Continue to try to collect debts after consumers disputed them in writing, and before verifying the debts.
9. Use obscene or profane language.

Left a message for Mr. Steven Bramble - I called back and told them I never heard of him.  Extremely urgent to reach him -- but I don't know him.  This is his number; no, this is MY number and it has been for 8 - 10 years.  How can I reach Steven Bramble; I don't know, who is he?  You have the wrong number.  No, this is his number, No, it's NOT... This is a VERY SERIOUS MATTER - maybe to him, but not to me.  I don't know him.  Have you tried Facebook?  He's listed on there.  Maybe you can reach him.  Please don't call again.  BUT THIS IS HIS NUMBER .... no, this is MY number ....   (are there any functioning brain cells there???)

Called my aunt and cousin looking for me. How they tracked them down and they don't have my information is beyond me. They told my cousin explicitly that they do searches for friends/family of hard-to-contact people. They told my cousin it was a legal/tax matter and my aunt that they wanted me to be aware of papers being "filed".

People who post these blog s or reply to these are just as bad as the debtors trying to be contacted. Pay what you  owe no matter when u did it. This is why our country is in so much debt and the economy is in the situation it is. Stop running up debt and your complaints will stop.

the above number has called my brother (that I have not spoken to in over 7 years) looking for me. Asking them if they were representatives for me. They told this company (which did not identify themselves)that he has not talked to me in over 7 years, however he was the ONLY living relative on file for me...So this unidentified company is "people searching" me.  

I get home and there is a message from Mrs. Corrner - warrner. Cant tell.  STILL no name of this company, but they have paperwork on their desk for me - for me to call them back or my representative in the state of california to call them back.  

I am thankful for this site...I have no intentions on calling them back.

Person left a message for me to call to help brother.  When I called and asked them what type of business they are, they said due to my arrogance that he had until 5pm this evening to contact them.  They provided me with no other information.  Does not sound like any type of professional business to me.

Voice mail demanding my son-in-law call this number urgently.  Not sure where my name connected other than probably a reference for a job.  Said it was regarding and then a 6 digit number.  Too bad I wasn't home! Based on what I've read on this and other sites, I'd at least have the satisfaction of telling them off!

"Mr. Struother" just called to try to track down my brother-in-law and said he needs to call "Mr. Adams" back at 877-253-4627.  When I asked him if this was in regards to collecting a debt, "Mr. Struother" claimed he didn't know.  When asked what CRA stands for, he told me it was not an acronym.  When I said I felt uncomfortable passing information along under such suspicious circumstances, he hung up.  He called back a few minutes later, and when I asked who was calling, he hung up again.

Just got a call from Casey Masters on my answering machine who said she was from CRA and for me to call back immediately at 877-253-4627 that it was time sensitive.  Also left me a file number.  I have recently received my credit report and there is nothing on it.

File a report with the FTC. There are collection laws in EVERY state. Most of the time they cannot do as he says an "blow up your line" because it is illegal to make positive contact more than once daily. I woked medical collections nearly 10 years ago and if it is a valid collection agency they teach thier employees the laws...Do not give them any information, get the name and address of the company (doubt they'll give it to you though) and file with the FTC. As for the 7 year rule...true because this same company is calling me regarding a debt from 1999. It is not on my credit report as they stellar individual said. I highly recommend contacting the FTC and your state agency.

8772534627 Left voice mail yesterday for my father who lives in another state and haven't seen in 4 years. We rarely talk and I don't know how these people got my home number. I called back and asked what this was regarding and "chris" told me that was none of my business. That I needed to have my husbad call back. I told him that I wanted to be removed from the calling list since I am not the debtor and I do not know where he is. He told me you better watch what your saying you might just make things worse. I asked him exactly how I would make things worse. He then told me he would have the dialer call my phone until it blew up. I told him to go screw himself. I want to know the name of this company since the 8.00 an hour bottomfeeding scum sucking skill lacking skip tracer wouldn't tell me. He hung up after telling me he owned the company- poor soul actually thinks that he could fool me....buddy people who own collection agencies hire scum like you to call people's relatives. Ms. Blakely called me today as well looking for my cousin. I told her that I don't know where she is or how to reach her because I only ever see her on Christmas day.  She made it very clear that she wanted to speak to her or her attorney "before she takes further action" regarding a serious matter.  I have received collections inqueries about her debt before, so when I insinuated that she was a collector, she seemed aggrivated and said that she is not from a collections agency.  I don't know who she works for, but if she really is a collector, I think that it is illegal to lie about it.

Received a call from Mrs. Blakley at 877-253-4627, these people harrasig my 87 year old alzheimers mother telling me she needed to get an attorney or they will sue her for a bill that is not nor has ever been hers. I informed her that I'm her POA she quickly transferred me to another number which was a recording asking me to leave my phone number.

If your debt was charged off in 2002- you said your stat of lim is 7 yrs.. it is 2009.. its not out of stat yet. And by the way they can still collect on out of stat debt. I have done research because something like this happend to me. You are wrong.

This is a fraud.  Company is CRA, which they tell you is not an acronym but is Cosumer Recovery Associates.  They called me claiming to collect on a debt for a card that had been charged off in 2002 and saying they were going to file a 1099-C with the IRS.  When I asked them to send me documentation they said they couldn't send anything without a settlement agreement.  I told them that I was not willing to settle on anything without documentation and wanted to check my credit report first.  Then they said that it may have dropped off the credit report.  Checked with Equifax and the FTC who told me if it is not on your credit report you do not owe it.  They are trying to collect on debt that has passed the statute of limitations.  If they call you try to collect all the information you can from them and call the Federal Trade Commision to file a complaint.  The statute of limitations per the Federal Government is 7 years, various depending on states.  Call and report them, it is a fraud and they are in violation of the FTC.

Some stupid idiot from this place called me and wanted to know if I could get a hold of my ex sister-in-law. She must have put me down as a reference or something more than 10 years ago. These jerks tried to act like they were involved with law enforcement and were being very deceptive in the way they presented themselves.

Bottom line is I am sure it was a bill collector trying to collect a debt from many years ago.
