Laura is correct: never give any CC info to someone that calls you. If you want to donate to something like Operation Blessing (a very worthy cause) just tell the caller you will send the money through your normal channel... via a secure website page, or a check by mail.  NEVER give personal info to someone that has called you.
P.S. Many times calls like this are merely 'thank you' calls from the legitimate charity. But still, no personal info need be exchanged.

I received a call from this number today 1-877-255-8820. The man on the phone said it was Operation Blessing (who by the way I've donated to in the past) and they were calling on behalf of the Haiti crisis. He jumped right to the dollar amount he needed ($170)...odd amount. I said can I donate $10 he said sure not a problem whenever you're ready you can read me your card number. For some reason hearing him say that I just had this red flag go up. Not to mention when they've called me in the past their name would show up on my caller ID. This time it didn't. I told him I could only send cash so he said it would be more cost effective if I just read him my card number. So I told him I won't be able to send him my money. So he said he'll send me a pre paid envelope in the mail. He didn't ask or verify my home address. So I'll have to see if it actually comes in the mail. Maybe I'm over reacting but you can't be too sure with people taking advantage of this horrible situation.

"Giving" to charities and receiving phone calls from them are two different things. A 4-star, legitimate charity won't usually solicit over the phone.

Definitely not a scam.  They are a "four star charity", crediting them as a very reputable organization.  You don't get that status overnight.  I've been giving to them for years, and have never had an issue.

Got a call from this number on a Sunday night wanting money for Operation Blessing.  It sounded like a scam.  I called back and got a recording saying to go to www.ob.org for more information.  www.ob.org is a legitimate charity but they are only open during normal business hours for donations.  This is obviously a scam.

Don't know who this is. They call and let it ring 4 times (not enough to kick in answering  machine).
