Not legit, it's a scam only claiming to be legit.

Yes, it's legit.  I received an email about a suspicious charge to my card.  I (independent of the email) checked my account online and the bogus charge was in the "Pending approval". I clicked on the link for "no, not me" and was taken to a page on chase.com. It said the account is now suspended and they would follow up with me between 8am and 5pm. This was the followup.

Half-an-hour ago, I got a fraud alert call from that number. Then I called Chase customer service and they confirmed it was legit!

I am sick and tired of these robo calls, and it seems no one can help me.  I am on the Federal and state no call list, and they are doing all they can do, but that's almost nothing.

After reading all the "this is a legitimate" phone number messages, I actually told my elderly mom (who received the auto call) to call the number on the back of her Chase Visa to verify any fraudulent activity.  Sure enough, it is a well programmed scam.  It is NOT a legitimate phone number for Chase Fraud Alert and they are fishing for personal information.  The real Chase Security said that it was a good thing that mom did not continue with the call, even though it sounded very professional.  Her message said there was an attempt charge for $178 to a furniture store.

So, disregard all the entries that claim this is not a scam number please, because it has been confirmed by the real Chase security as a total scam.

We have declined a transaction to prevent fraud on your United account ending in ####. It is important in order to prevent further difficulties in using your card that you call us immediately at 800-454-9078 to verify this activity. Again the number...etc. We are open 24 hours 7 days a week. If you are traveling internationally you can call the number on the back of your card."

This number is legit but you should always call the phone # on the back of your credit card just to be safe.

Event Reminder
This seems to be a legitimate number for Chase Fraud prevention as the other posts have noted. What is interesting in my case is that, in the name of security after the Target attacks (and others), I received a replacement card with an embeded chip on Monday evening in the mail to replace my previous "magnetic strip" card that never had any fraud issues.

I activated it Monday night from home and put it in my wallet. I never removed the card after that and on Tuesday morning, less than 30 hours after activating the card, it had been attempted to be used in four fraudulent transactions outside of the State I reside in. That tells me they have a mole. Somebody at the plant these are made at or within Chase had to know my numbers (front and back) and when the card was activated. Or else they were extremely lucky to guess all that. No restaurant staff or online web site or anybody else got my card number from me.

I received a voicemail from Chase credit card security about fraudulent activity on my account.  I had also received three emails from Chase during a one hour period with the last one arriving approximately one-half hour before the phone call.  Each one said that a specific transaction had been declined.  I had signed up for several types of email alerts just two weeks ago on their website.  The combination of phone and email notification helps confirm their identity.

Legitimate.  They left a voicemail message saying it was Chase credit card security and they had noticed possibly fraudulent charges on my account.  I called their published number and verified that the call was legitimate.

810 is not toll free but a landline in St. Clair, MI.
But ... 800  4549078 has previous posts of "scam" for Chase.
