You have an A+ rating because you are operating under false pretenses.  You are probably a Debt Settlement program operating under credit counseling.  All debt settlement companies will have either a D or F rating with the BBB because the BBB is concerned with the industry in which it operates.  So yes, you do have an A+ rating, but you are lying about your business model to get an A+ rating.

I hate spelling errors, certainly wouldn't trust them.....

I received a letter today from 1101 Pennsylvania Ave NW 6th Floor, Washington, DC.  The zip code 46802 in the stamp area is what made me suspicious about the debt settlement.  So I goggle the zip code and found out the mail came from Indiana not Washington.

The contact telephone number in the notice is 1-877-805-9823, probably the same company as 877-294-1025. They need to be reported and stopped from sending out false, misleading documents.  I have been receiving calls for various debt companies, but I just hang up, now they are sending mail.

I received an 'actual document' personal & confidential from the same?company Debt Servicing Division
1101 Pennsylania Ave NW 6th floor, Washington, DC 20004 with a case number and an expiration date of August 13, 2010.The only important information missing on the check is the address of the responsible party for the amount of the discount/rebate voucher. Now,if any company truly wanted to help, would there be an expiration date? The postal date is of a presorted first-class mail black box with a permit no.1099 and the zipcode is 92677. I was the one who did the initial phone call on Monday. The person I spoke with told me he was based in San Diego and gave me a long distance number to call, but I told him I wanted the other toll free number he had recited just seconds prior. He already had my credit card balances without asking me.He asked for a phone contact and even my SS#(was I stupid to trust)? He said he would go over my case with his supervisor and call back in 15 minutes. He did, I wasn't home. And his message was he had good news(or greatnews)and I was to call him back.I've not called back.Got too late also, and I wanted to do a search for negative feedback on this 'National Debt Relief Stimulus Plan' check of $12,826.00.The phone numbers I've got are 877 805-9635 on the realistic document and the other phone number is 877 471-0800 with an extension.I wonder if the post office would have some answers for validating if this company is trustworthy. They must've received inquires from some people by now. Since the BBB hasn't gathered any or enough information, the post office usually does have enough.I certainly liked hearing my $22,000 total debt would be reduced to about $14,000 and pay $400.00 for the next 30 months;but that it had to be approved.

Aug. 14, 2010

?Dear Steve,

I am currently involved in debt reduction on two of my 4 credit cards. We have been burned before with financial advice and people seeking us out , claiming to be on our side. I am looking for some good adivice.

I received a letter from the company Credit Relief Today. It has a case number and and says I could eliminate my unsecured debt my up to 50%. I spoke with a representative, John is his name, he gave me the website, his direct phone number in Sacramento Ca. , he told me the process and the difference between their company the the debt consolidators. I want to know if this company is for real for fraud. Could you help me find the answer?

there Sac. phone number is 916-873-1562. The letter has a heading of?
National Debt Relief Stimulus plan
address: Debt Servicing Division

Veronica?

Steve?s Answer:

Dear Veronica,

It sounds like a fairly typical mailer that I?ve reviewed before. See this article with samples.

I previously wrote about another similar program, the Consumer Debt Hardship Initiative, that was linked to Credit Relief Today as well.

Frankly I?m surprised Credit Relief Today is still at it with these mailers. There is no national debt relief stimulus plan. That?s just not true.

And the claims the sales representative made to you will be illegal as of September 27, 2010 under the new Federal Trade Commission telemarketing sales rules. See this guide as to what must be disclosed.

In looking at the Credit Relief Today site I can?t see how their process is different than that of every other debt settlement company. They say:

Settling of Your Debt. Once you have been enrolled into the program, the independent processing company will commence the Service. You will be advised of all good faith offers made by creditors and debt collectors, and of their acceptance of any offers made by the independent processing company. The independent processing company will not settle any account without your approval, and you have absolute discretion to accept or reject any settlement offer. A settlement can only be completed once the full funds are available in your settlement trust or savings account. ? Source

In fact I?m left with a new concern after reading that on their site. Since they allude to an ?independent processing company? I?m left wondering if Credit Relief Today is just a front-end marketing company trying to sell people debt settlement and not the company that would actually be able to service your account.

So I?m left with a few concerns and some homework for you.

My Concerns

  1. The mailer seems misleading.
  2. The savings estimates seem unfounded.
  3. The company seems it is a front-end marketing company and not the actually settlement provider.

Your Homework

  1. If you want to continue to pursue this option I suggest you ask them for a copy of any contract you would need to sign before you obligate yourself to anything.
  2. Let me know what their fee structure is and if the fees will be paid before settlements are actually achieved.
  3. Ask the sales representative for his ?Good Faith? estimates of the services they will provide based on the new rules that begin soon.

Please update me on your progress by posting updates here in the comments section of your question. I?m very interested in how this works out for you.

Big hug.

Yep, I received one also.  To expire on Sept 29.  Evidently they have changed their phone number.  Same address 1101 Pennsylvania Ave NW 6th Floor Washingto, DC 20004 United States of America
The phone number is listed as 1-877-805-9825.
I didn't call them.  It's bad enough the government has allowed us to get into the messes we are in, but to allow these companies to continue to do so is uncalled for.

The address on this scam is definitely designed to look like official government address, but it's just a mail drop. Regus.com rents out small offices, conference rooms and mail boxes to companies, including 1101 Pennsylvania Ave and 1050 Connecticut Ave.

I've been getting a bunch of these things for the former tenant of my apartment. Calling them and asking them to take me off their lists hasn't helped. Please let me know if you manage to get through to someone and do find where they are getting their info.

Hey everyone... From all the posts and information I have read about this debt relief thing, I noticed that they kind of change there letters a bit as time goes by. What I mean is that I read older posts on other sites with the same number and address but a bit of changing in letter content. One post says they got a letter (same address & number) and it was from the Debt Servicing Division. Another post says from Debt Resolution Division......etc....several changes in letter content... And I called the number and the first thing they ask me for to ''see how they can help'' was my social secutrity number, date of birth...etc....soooo yeah....kinda fishy.... just don't buy into it...

What  a scam, I don't owe any credit card debt.  This scum company sent me letters and when I called they must have caller Id because now they are constantly calling me.  I am also getting calls from some
National Health Services stating my claims have been denied and I will have to pay for services.  I think they must all work together or share false information with each other.  So much for do not call list.
Do not call from your home phone they will never leave you alone.  Why doesn't the government step in.

They make these things look so offical.  I am not even sure if all of these inet post are legitimate.  I can tell you this one is.

I get letters like this all the time and I wish I could stop them, since I don't have any debt except one credit card with a $2,000 limit and I only owe around $450.00  My payments are never late.  I have no need for a debt resolution.  The last letter stated  I owe $32,625.00, yeah that is so wrong.  The other letters have given different amounts. Beware this is a total scam.  I don't know what they are doing or how, but I do not owe that kind of money.

I have received several letters from these people in the past couple of weeks.  It's starting to get annoying.  I can see people falling for this, since they make it look like a government thing.

On a related note, I am also enrolled in a debt consolidation program that I love.  My best friend and my sister have also both used it.  I highly recommend them, if anyone is looking to get out of debt with a reliable company.
