Had the same issue, chatted with Norton via their official website. They took the charge right off my account and unchecked the re-occurring fee. Oddly enough, the Norton account was linked to an old email. It seems like a weird glitch on Norton's side, but they were quick to take off the charge, which obviously suggests something is wrong with Norton, which ironically enough is an internet protection software.

The exact same thing has happened to me that you are all speaking of.  I purchased the anti-virus protection a year ago in March.  A couple of days ago when I signed onto my computer a big message came up on the screen that said something to the effect of "would I like to renew my anti-virus subscription".  I responded by clicking "no".  Today I looked at my bank statement on-line, and I have been charged $73.49 for a Norton renewal fee, which I, like everyone else, did not sign up for.  Even if I had accidentally checked a box that said I wanted automatic renewal (which I didn't) why wouldn't Norton notify me that my account was about to be charged?........and by the way.......why is everyone's renewal fee a different amount?  I called the number above (which was on my bank statement) and was on the phone for 20 minutes.  The representative tried to convince me that Norton sent me an email notifying me of the renewal charge, which is a bunch of B.S.  The representative finally agreed to refund the charge and cancel the subscription.  She said I would receive the refund in 2 to 3 days.........I won't hold my breath.  I don't understand how this business can continue to get away with this practice.  I would rather pay double the amount of the fee I was charged by Norton than to deal with a dishonest company.

I canceled my subscription months ago and I'm supposed to get a credit for it.  After a few months, I was surprise to find a charge of $49.99 for Norton Annual Renewal!! and of course i didn't get the refund that I am supposed to get.  I'm calling customer service now and I've been on hold for more than 30 minutes now.  What a terrible service!!  In addition to that, I cannot delete completely the Norton software from my computer.  I called their tech dept. and they cannot help me with it.  When I tried to delete it, it screwed up my computer and I have to call a Computer Technician to fix it.  He himself could not remove the software from my computer.  It keeps screwing up the computer every time you try to delete it.  NORTON, why do you still continuously pissing me off even if I have canceled you months ago??

I was also charged a renewal fee.... I first called the Norton # on the statement... the guy with the very heavy accent couldn't even find my "account"!!!!...  after trying a few different emails and being on hold for  a while, I was given a "manager's" email address to email my info to, so that the manager could help me with receiving my refund!!! (Total Blow-off!!)... I hung up, found this forum, tried another of the recommended Phone numbers from Norton.com and, same thing!!  The only difference was that I got a girl the second time, with an even heavier accent!!!  She also gave me her "manager's" email address at the end of it all!!!!!!!  So I decided to call my bank (TD Bank NA), how refreshing it was to finally hear an authentic American English accent!!  He filled out a fraud claim for me, and temporarily credited the amount back to my account until the claim is fully investigated......  Hopefully I can get my money back!

Moral of the story:  DON'T USE NORTON!!!  And if you do, make sure you UNCHECK the hidden box that says: "Automatically charge my credit card next year and redirect all my calls to the middle east"!!!!!!!!

It is a charge from Norton's. Mine was for $75.66 and I did NOT authorize it in any way,  Been on the phone with someone from India for the last 45 minutes being bounced around from person to person.  I think they are just hoping I will give up.

Found this on my credit card too. I called Norton Customer Service - not the number on my bill - but the customer support number on their website and they could not find any record of my billing. During the call, I then noticed the phone number on the credit card bill and asked them if the phone number 877-294-5265 was a Norton phone number and they said it was. Since they couldn't find any justification for the charge they offered to send me a check for the amount of the transaction. They said it would take 4-6 weeks. I responded that I would rather dispute the charge (with their consent that I was billed incorrectly) and not accrue interest or pay and wait for the check. Because once I pay, I have agreed to the terms and will no longer have the leverage to dispute it. What if the check never arrived? So, I am disputing the charge with my credit card. They have a form on the back of the bill that I am filling out.
If this is a scam, Norton doesn't seem to want people to know about it. So, maybe they hired a third party to do their dirty work. Who knows, but it doesn't look good on the part of Norton  - in my opinion.

I have a charge for 84.09 in my checking account for a Norton Annual Renewal.  I no longer own the computer and have not renewed service. This is a deliberate business practice aimed at unsuspecting former customers who may not notice the charge, it happened to me last year as well.  They claimed I had a recurring renewal since 2007.  I had the problem solved in 15 min and my refund would be completed within 3-5 days.  Call 1.877.294.5265 to reclaim your money, all you need is your email address.

I had the same problem....A charge on my Credit card that I knew nothing about... I called the number and spoke to an East Indian sounding Lady.... After a 20 minute call she told me that the charge would be returned to my credit card with-in 3 business days and a confirmation number... 2 days later the money was returned.

Could you send me some information on the class action? Because of Norton's fraudlent debiting of my checking account yesterday ($75.41) I lost an important loan request with Alliant Credit Union, because of the unauthorized debit for renewal on a product I do not use and have not used for years, took my account under, thereby nullifying a loan modification that would have otherwise been approved. When I made my follow-up call this morning after being told that Norton would fix this within 24 hours, I realized that Norton now had a pre-recorded message set-up, so they must have done this to a ton of people.

Having a negative balance on my checking account is causing me a ton of problems today. I think Norton should be responsible for all of this stuff and has likely damaged a lot of people. When you call, you get put through to Rahul, and he just keeps generating order numbers and reference numbers, and tells you that they have reversed it and the problem is  on the banks end and that Norton never took the money out. The bank says that this is a lie.

I was able to call and I got through right away.  I didn't even wait a minute.  I made it clear that I no longer wanted this product and did not want fees automatically withdrawn from my account and that I wanted the charges reversed back to my checking account.  I was told it would take 2-3 business days, to reverse the charge of $65.69.  The representative tried to get me to agree to getting reimbursed 50% only so that I could take advantage of a 6 month membership, to which I repeated that I did not want to use this product AT ALL and to cancel any automatic withdrawal of fees from my account.
