Debt Collector
This number belongs to Black Mountain Capital, a debt collector that will leave other people's private information on your answering machine, since their computer does know that it is talking to an answering machine. They call and call, unless you contact them and tell them to stop. They were not rude to me, but they should not be leaving private information on answering machines willy nilly.

These people are Black Mountain Capital - they are a collection agency and if you have an answering machine they leave private personal information on the machine without knowing if they have the right people. We have been getting other people's information left on our phone. There computer tells my answering machine, 'If you are not so and so, hang up, if you stay on the line we presume you are the so and so we are calling. We will pause 3 seconds and then give personal information." My answering machine just records and plays back so private information for someone else was on my phone. Bad Black Mtn. Capital.

What you seem to be failing to understand is the "7 year limit"  can be renewed if the original debt, paperwork or note is sold to another company in order to collect. The timeframe can become renewed as a new company now owns your 'debt' and that is why the new company is calling you on it and trying to collect. They too, now have 7 years to try and collect. If they cannot, they are free to sell you debt AGAIN to another company if they wish and the 7 year timeframe can begin yet again. It just becomes a renewed debt each time they sell your debt, you see?

If only knew what one was collecting from or to, would be great. They came up with a 760 number which is Empower Communications. They finally left me an 877 number to call back on. My financial situation is the same as the others. I lost my good job in 2008. Now I have several collectors on my back. What is the newest thing is they send a 1099 from the creditor. One has to put it on taxes now for income earned. This bill dates back to 2008 how does one fix that one now. Meanwhile they went to court and the judge did a motion to vacate in 2009.  Isn't that kind of redundant or illegal. I am filing a bk as soon as I have the money to do it. However in my case I am clueless. The tax person says we have to use it on income from what year I asked. I guess for 2011, hmmm what about the motion to vacate which threw it out of court to begin with?  Isn't that a double jeopardy law?  Will send a complaint to the bbb and the ftc

GMC called a number that I can no longer be reached at around 7pm today.  I was called, told about the phone call and immediately called them back.  When I called, I was told they we attempting to collect a debt and asked me how I would like to proceed.  I ask that they send me something in writing to verify the debt and was told that mailing would take to long and that they could email it me something.  I agreed and gave them my email address.  I told them I would verify the debt once I received the email and would be back in touch with them.  I asked that they remove the number they called as I was no longer living there.
At around 8:45pm, another call was made to the same number.  They let the machine answer the call and immediately called me to let you know this company called again.  I called back, a second time, to find out why they were calling so soon after I spoke with them and why they hadn't removed this number.  They denied calling, said that they had removed the number when I originally called and asked me how I wanted to proceed with this debt.  I told them that I spoke with someone earlier and that they were emailing me information about the debt and I would verify the information and get back to them.  The man I spoke with informed me that he was a supervisor and that the notes in my record stated that I refused the pay the debt when I last called.  I again told him what was said between me and the first representative.  He was rude and very unprofessional.
I understand that they deal with people all day who do not return their calls or are rude to them, but that does not excuse the way I was spoken to and how this has been handled.
I know my rights and will not be calling them back until I receive something in writing from this company so I can verify the information and will be reporting them each time the call the number I asked them to remove.

Whenever you get a call from a third party collection agency, simply tell them that they are not allow to contact you via phone. Not on your home, cell or work number and they should only send information to you via mail. This is per the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). This will only work on a third party collection agency and not with the original creditor. If they continue to call you, which I've never had one that called back, keep a record and press charges. Everytime they violate it, they will be fined $1,000. But again, once I've said this to them, I've never had a call back. I've even called collection agencies before they called me and told them this so I didn't have to wait for them to harrass me again. Trust me, it works.

My buddy was a collector for 5 years ...  that FDCPA notice works.

Orrr just answer " This is John" ... or whatever name you want (that ISN'T your name), then tell them you just got this phone number and to take you off their list.

Try it ... it works !

I don't know what debt these folks want to collect on, but they'll have to get in line.  Gee, I'm so glad the trillion dollar Obama slush fund, also called The Stimulus Plan created all those "shovel ready jobs."  I have a shovel.  Now where are the jobs Mr. President?

Can they legally keep calling my cell phone?  I have a pay per minute phone and it costs me every time they call.  And it isn't even for me.  I've asked to have them remove, etc. and like everyone else, they change the number and keep on calling.  It costs me.  If I can sue, how and is it worth it?  So far less than $2. in calls, but still........

For all of you with problems with these people not getting the hint you are not who they are looking for, try you mail.  www.youmail.com  it's a free service, it forwards the call, you can block their numbers from being able to leave a message and the message they here is that the number is disconnected.  A friend of mine showed me this for calls I was getting when I got a new number when I moved to another state.  worked great.  no more calls!

Glass Mountain Capital. Robo-dial call with message to call back and refer to the account number given. Don't owe any delinquent money, never have. Called them back, gave no name, told them to remove number from list. Once he said he would, I informed him I had the Attorney General's Office of Consumer Affairs involved a year ago to stop collections calls. If I got another one from them, I would have AG involved on them. Get this--he said I didn't have to "threaten them"! What a joke! No threat, just promise.
