these people called me saying they had a process server on the way that I had gotten a loan for Advance America Payday Loan in Texas in 2009. They demanded a credit card number right away, I refused, but gave them a defunct debit card number. They said I owed $825 and if I didn't pay it I would be arrested for check fraud. They said they would call back April2nd and if I didn't pay I would have to go to court.

Shill if you were not illiterate, meaning you could actually read, you wouldn't embarrass yourself posting on the Internet.  Problem is most of these people indicated they never even took out loans.  But hey, maybe you can post some information to confuse consumers and make your scam look legitimate, right ?  You morally reprobate piece of fecal matter

"Jessica & Joe" here are the poster children for our "Help the Desperate Frauds" campaign this week. If you can spare a buck or two, send it to your local animal shelter. Be sure to send a note that it's coming on the behalf of "Jessica & Joe" @ the "Starving Illiterate Frauds Home" of your state.
The shelters will appreciate your donations. "Jessica & Joe" may not be as pleased. It will hurt them to know that a needy, 3-legged, rabid "Cockerdoodlespaniel" is going to have a larger income this year than they will.
Research and know of your rights under the FDCPA. Look up the regulations regarding debt collection in your state. Look up the Statutes of Limitations regarding debt in your state. When you've done that...help stamp out the "Jessica & Joes" out there. It will be best to put them out of our misery. Otherwise, we may have to put them in shelters....
Live Well.

The poster didn't say he had debts to be paid.  Nice try, shill!  These callers are scammers - if they were legitimate, they would have no problem being in compliance with the FDCPA -which means they would MAIL a debt validation letter to the alleged debtor!  You need to stop being a shill - people come here because they know they'll get good information on how to avoid being scammed by people like you!  Get it together, shill!

I'm sure you do agree "Joe". Your income is just as at risk as any other fraudulent debt collectors is when people become aware of their rights & the laws regarding the collection of debt. Legitimate or, in your case, fraudulent.
You're a joke "Joe". The federal regulations regarding debt collection are out there for anyone to Google. That bothers you doesn't it "Joe"? Well, there ya' go "Joe"! What? Did you think that being a fraudulent debt collector was going to be your "road to riches"? Go figure! Hey! You weren't hired for your intelligence "Joe". Walk it off & go find a line of work that's more in line with your station in life. You'd probably make a good crew chief for those crews that collect litter on the sides of streets. You know? Those guys that wear those spiffy uniforms that say DOC on them. Oh, wait a minute! You've been there & done that. I guess I don't have any recommendations for you then "Joe". You're just a failure & that's all you're good at.

If you pay your bills, you wouldn't have to deal with this nonsense. Yes, their ways are not ideal or logical but, this is happening because of responsibilities you haven't taken care of. Stop taking out loans and you won't have these problems or at least pay them! Get it together people

They call and give me a case number and tell me I have officially been notified and they needed my address.  I gave them my address and work address and they acted surprised.  I am more than willing to wait for this so called "debt" and court order which you cannot explain.  I feel bad for these people doing this because they must be the most pathetic, bottle of the barrel, useless and waste of O2 for our planet.  Please, 1-877-318-5617, please jump off a bridge or shoot yourself.  It would be fantastic if you did.

Thank you!

We received an annoying demanding phone call yesterday from someone who claimed to be the "processor" for Statewide Mediation. The call came in restricted. He claimed he didn't know what it was on, but we had better get it paid or we would be getting served papers, arrested and going to jail. ! I called the actual "so called" Statewide Mediation Group and they were definitely smooth talkers at 877-318-5617.  Something told me the whole thing was a scam. Said it was a payday loan from 2008 and they would "settle" for an amount if I gave them my debit card #.  We talked to someone named Anthony.  I will give them props. They know how to use their "legal" words and convince people.  Sadly, I'm sure they have ripped off tons of people already. Good luck losers!

This is a total scam. Some guy called me from a number that doesn't show up on my cell phone and said that I was going to be served if I didn't call this 866 number, first of all a server doesn't call you that defeats the purpose of catching you unaware, they just show up. Do not give these crooks any money!

These guys are at the front of the line for harassment. They are a real collection agency BUT their methods (inc. threatening to serve court subpeoans) are out of line and in most states illegal. They calim to be collecting a debt from me for 2 $200 un-piad loan (that I did in fact take out) and is now $700.00 beacuse I defaulted. They demanded $25 from me today and $100 every paycheck unless I paid $500 today. They yelled at me and said "good luck in court" when I told them I was uncomfortable with giving out my debit card #. They then continued to call my work and my phone and even yelled at MY DAUGHTER. ps - NO ONE EVERY SHOWED UP AT MY WORK OR MY HOUSE WITH THEIR THREATENED "COURT PAPERS"

So I received a Restricted call today.  I don't typically answer unknown numbers but I did today and muted my phone trying to see who was on the other line.  After the first call...they called me back 3 more times...now that's a total of 4 back to back calls.  The 4th time I answered...was given a file number and the 877 # to call.  Before calling I decided to use a well known tool called Google...which needless to say brought me to this site.  So after reading everyone's comments and replies I decided to call myself.  Instead of being questioned I was doing the questioning which in turn made the person on the other end very angry.  I asked her what she has being recorded as the first date they contacted me regarding this matter and she stated today's date...which was surprising to me so I asked her again.  See when I received the first call today I was told that I had already been informed of this matter which I had but many years ago.  This was not the first time I received a call like this.
Not only that but they have an address that I haven't lived at since 2005.  If this were a real legal issue...I'm sure they would have my current address where I have been for well over 2 years...

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I do not know what state you live in, but every state has a "statue of limitations" for debt collection. Some are 3 years and I think the longest is 5 years. Check it for your state and if it passed, they can send all the civil papers they want, but if you go to court, claim that the limitations is over and the debt is in "dead debt" and the suit will be dismissed. As for this company, they are scammers!

I just dealt with these guys. Spoke to a Mike Laursen. The company is called Statewide ADR and also called Nationwide ADR. They are scam debt collectors! They try to serve you court papers for bad payday loans claiming you committed bank or check fraud. Payday loans are civil issues, not criminal and in some states it is illegal to prosecute you for this. Only sheriffs and deputy sheriffs can serve you civil court papers, not "hired" process servers hired by "the firm." If the process servers name was either Timothy or Troy, you got scammed!
