Who texted me? The message said to call them back but I don't know who it is I'm calling.

This number is a part of Careers Inc, which is a verification service
for employers for hundreds of different job boards. I'm a
representative of Careers and would like to clarify why you're getting
a text from us on this number.
We receive a large quantity of resumes for thousands of positions
across the country, and our job is to verify that your contact
information is correct. Employers use Careers because they get such a
massive response to job postings. It's very hard for any company to
sort through interested applicants - people are not reachable, their
phone numbers are disconnected, or their email is invalid or typo'd on
their resume. This leads to frustration on both ends, where applicants
receive no response and employers get bad contact info for an
otherwise qualified individual.
Careers attempts to contact applicants to confirm that their
information is correct - if it is not, then we help them to correct it
and update the employer on the applicant's status.
We do not ask for any sensitive information such as SSN. We do not
charge for our service. We will never ask you for anything beyond
confirming what's already in your resume on file.

They called me to verify details from my resume for a specific job I'd applied for with one of their clients. They didn't ask any strange or unusual questions. They didn't even ask me to provide any identifying information, only to verify the details they provided.
It seems that they've expanded from the services their website lists, because I'm not an executive, though their site says they are "Puerto Rico and the Caribbean's Leading Executive Search and Management Recruiting Firm".

I've been getting hits from this outfit for a few days now, always refering to the "Human Manager" position I applied for. I almost fell for it filling out some basic resume stuff on one of their web sites, until I got about three pages in and it began to take on a sparse, phony look. I closed the browser window but get occasional e-mails, texts, and one or two phone calls since, all about this supposed postion. (I am maintenance and continuous improvement by trade)
Careers Inc. is a highly respected recruiting firm out of the Carribean. Doesn't sound like they would be doing this kind of work, and in all honesty, with the databases available to companies, I don't know why they would even need that service. Verifying resumes is bogus. Never heard of it. if you can't get your resume right, the company doesn't want you anyway.
American Careers Inc., on the other hand, is a scam who will eventually ask you for money. I don't know if they are connected.
