Got same call for my brother who doesn't even live with me from CRA Jenny Rodriguez 877-241-8787. The CRA stands for Consumer Recovery Services a debt collector.

Mr...blocker and himself trying to be someone else also called me..threatening me with 2 felony warrants. I contacted an attorney and the county in which these charges were to be filed and they both informed me this was a scam....worthless a***oles!!!

All of the above is accurate except that theya re calling my work from 757-563-4546, a Mr. Glocker saying a attemtped to defraud a financial institution and that I need to call back ASAP with personal information.. My place of employment, the folks who answer teh phone, politely tell them that if this is a a debt collection (which it is not) that they need to call me personally, to which they scream at tehm and get abusive and then hang up.  SCAM!

Just got a call from that number 10 minutes ago. Told me call back immediately or tell my lawyer too. Thanks for the info.

they called me from a 757-716-7198 and were  yelling at me and threating me with a warrant

I just recv'd call from 757-716-7196, looked it up and it came from CRA in Virginia Beach, so this is a new number they r using.

757-716-7193 called giving me info about my cell #; called them back and it said CRA! The lady caller gave me the last four digits of a social security number. Then began asking weird questions, but the last four digits were not mine! Strange, so I began research!

I received a call from an Ellie at 757-716-7190 asking for my brother stating they had received "paperwork" for my brother and needed to forward it to him.

I got a call this mornig from 757-716-7194, when they guy asked for me I could hear in the background numerous people talking and typing so automatically I knew it was someone trying to scam me, I told them they had the wrong number and I didn't know who they were looking for, so that should be the end of them calling me....do like I did tell them they have the wrong number all you have to do is listen if you hear numerous people talking in the background they are in a call center and trying to get your money.

Got a call from them today leaving a message for a relative I haven't seen in years. Foolishly called them back and they were mean mean mean and hung up on me when I told them this was my phone and not the relative's. Nice. Very Nice.

I owe no-one, so I won't be answering their calls again. She was  very rude. Get a different job lady as the saying goes what goes around comes around.  They may call you. Don't call my house anymore as I have CALLER ID.

They left me a voicemail... Sheri from the offices of CRA, she sounded like a psycho hose beast!!!  It was scary and therefore I am not calling back!!!  I am not sure how they would get my cell phone number... but YAY for caller id and the ability to ignore :)

I was provided a 7-digit number, and asked that either I or my "registered representative" call an 800 number immediately.

I got these calls too today from A NUMBER OF 757-716-7196. VERY RUDE PEOPLE !!!! I wish I knew how to make them stop !!!!!

757-716-7196 Too!!! It was "Candy" who left a message and she didn't sound sweet. She probably uses that same name evenings on the pole. They got me on a company cell phone only used for business and never given out on forms and such. It was CRA.

"these organizations" = BBB, FTC, etc.  *Clearly* not CRA :P

Got a call from some woman at 8am asking for my social security number.  Refused to give it to her.  She refused to say what company she was with or her name.  Her pathetic attempts at being intimidating led me to hang up, but what IS intimidating is the thought they this organization may actually have my social security number (she had the last 4 right, even though i didn't confirm).  Why have they not been shut down?  Proves my white collar crime professor's point that these organizations are not in fact set up to protect consumers :(  Feel awful for the people they may have killed through these tactics (reading the chest pain stories). I'm tempted to "play around" with these folks - what kind of losers takes a job of scamming people - but the sensible side says I should just ignore all their calls and voice mails.

I would like to report them.  But since it is now 2011 and I see evidence of these parasites in this link going back to 2007, it appears that they continue with impunity.  

I would like to play along with these creatures, saying that "I would love to pay whatever they think I owe" - I will be "scared to death" and "relieved to settle"... but I will need to hand over the check to someone in person.

Ahh.... yeah.

Since they seem to be scaring seniors, particularly, sometimes to the point of hospitalization, I am kind of amazed that someone, or their adult child, has not paid a personal visit to the office in Virginia to deliver and collect on their own debt.

This is simply not right.

My number was 757-336-8065,and it was the same as all the rest.They call and will not leave a message.That's when I called them back and found out they were calling from CRA..I searched the internet and found  this web site.I thought it was just me that were haarrassimg but I guess i'm not alone.As long as have caller ID and an answering machine I don't expect to have a conversation with them any time soon.
It's really sad,people like this are allowed to operate like they do.Having the manners of a grapefruit and the intelligence of a fence post we the public are subjected to their rudeness and persistence.

I got this number on my cell phone. It said I should call or have my representative call. I have no idea who this is

left VM on sister's home phone for me which I never have given to anyone ever. It sounded odd because he asked for me or my representive to call him back.  When I called back it sounded like a home phone voice mail.  It was just weird.

I just got a message from CRA, a Mrs. Beagle. She gave an account number and mentioned the name of a long dead relative and said it was urgent I contact her.
It's a obvious scam and soomebody needs to stop these jerks or in the least throw a couple of shoes at them... Hey I think I know just the guy for the job, I ment him a couple of days ago! :)

have received 4-5 calls from this number over the last month. message asks us to call back and give reference number, they mumble the callers name, but the company name is CRA. They claim to be trying to contact a person and that it is urgent we call back same day.  I did call back once. The woman asked me if I knew the person they had called about.  I responded "Maybe" and she lost her mind!  "This is not some guessing game" "Maybe you should call back when you are in a better mood"... well, duh, lady it is too a guessing game.

I am not sure what the scam is, but I am certain it is a scam.

If you do not recognize a number, do not answer your phone. If nobody ever answers these calls, they will stop. Do not call them back or become upset. These calls are a ploy by the cell phone providers, propogated by the sale of our phone numbers to anybody willing to pay for them, to increase usage, and therefore increase charges and provide them justification for more bandwidth allocation. If nobody ever answers these calls, then the calls will not generate the desired effect. The calls will then become an expensive liability to the callers, and they will be forced to stop.

If somebody calls you from a number you do not recognize, and it is important, they will leave an important message. Then, you can call them back.

Thank you for this blog!! I rec'd a panicked message from someone named Liz Casinger at this office. I returned the call to let them know they'd called a wrong number, only to speak with a belligerent person who hung up on me once he had the information. I decided the CRA Offices must be a collection agency. I feel so sorry for the person they were looking for and hope they never find her!

A I too received a call from this company 17573638056 but this call was for someone I didnt know upon asking them who they were I was told we are CRA. I asked for more information and was screamed and yelled at and then the guy hung up. I goolged the company got their full name and called back asked the guy who answered if they were Consumer Recovery Associates and he immediately hung up in my face. I called back and asked to speak to a manager and he yelled screamed called me foul names and then threatened that he would personally call me everyday he then hung up in my face also. I called back and gave them the "number" for the person they were trying to reach. Have fun talking to the Virgina attorney general guys. STOP HARRASSING PEOPLE.
