This idiot just called, went to VM and sneezed LOUD and said "oh... alright..." and hung up.

Did not recognize this number so did not answer.

It's American Express business - which I do use in my business.  Why they don't leave a message is beyond me - it makes them no better than lousy telemarketing firms.

someone called and left a message that was completely incomprehensible.  it sounded like he was drunk!

Got a call from someone asking for someone no longer at our office. Asked if we could help and they hung up.

This was an "abandoned" or "dead air" call. "Abandoned" calls (telemarketing calls that are not connected to a live representative within 2 seconds after you answered; characterized by "dead air") from any source - including "legitimate" charities and their telemarketing agents - should be reported as such to the FCC. Go to http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm to do this.

Person did not leave a name said they would call back and would like to speak to the person who makes the financial decisions.  They then hand up.

I got a 15 second message with nothing but heavy breathing.  I googled the number and site came up.  Guess I'm not the only one on this company's call list!

Three calls in 20 min. The first two went to voicemail. Each was a full length (until time-out at 5min I think) message containing nothing but idle chatter in the background. The one with the loudest voice was urging her co-workers (I presume) to have an "STD-free weekend", debating the relative merits of smoking crack v shooting smack, surveying who was going to what club this evening, and pleading for someone to show up to work on Monday with a gun and shoot "Bob". I answered the third call, same background noises but a prompt hang-up. I would have summarily deleted the messages had the voice not sounded like someone of my acquaintance. Once into the dialog, as meaningless as it was, I could not look away, as it were. This is AMEX?!

It's AMEX, wanting info about my "pleasure" with their cards, looking for comments, etc.

Called at 1pm and actually left a message - yes, it was American Express.

If it really is business related why don't they leave a message!  I am a business owner with an AMEX account, but the fact that they don't leave a message lets me know it's just plain telemarketing.  They are exempt from the do-not-call rule because I do business with them.  Shame on you AMEX!

Left message at my number for someone with my last name, different first name, but same first initial.  Said he was this person's "Business Account Advisor" for American Express.  Dunno if it was a collection call for said person or telemarketing...

Rudely called, said it was "an important business matter" and after repeatedly being asked "who he was calling on behalf of", finally answered American Express.  If anyone thinks "telling Amex about it" will make any more difference than telling them "not interested", I'm laughing at you right now. Said he was Vince Davis and his call back number is 866-490-9096 extension 33100

I called it back...it's an American Express small business product. "Open for business at American Express" so obviously you get the call if you have a corporate/business amex card. Mystery solved. If you are getting rude salespeople, let Amex know about it...you can also register with the 'do not call registry' and report the number of he sales call as well. Otherwise, this is not that alarming.
