My attitude is if you don't leave a message, then  you must not really want to get a hold of me.  Fine with me, see if you I ever answer your call. By answering the call, it is like curiosity killed the cat.

Only problem I had was I got tricked into agreeing to the new data throttling limits by re-upping my plan for better talk minutes. The caller never mentioned the new restrictions and I did not ask. Oh well, Like Ryan says, just don't answer.
I don't talk much so unlimited talk was not a good trade off for new 2GB/month data throttle limit. Used to be 15GB, then 10GB, not 2GB per month. Next step, 100% of the time data throttling. Oh well, the good deals always fade away eventually and we all end up paying more and getting less, just like cable.

People are so Paranoid nowadays -It IS T-mobile! Customer service call about your service/plan rates. If you would like to keep as is, upgrade/change,etc. No big deal. Answer the phone, then they'll stop calling. They will continue to pursue you until you finally give them a response one way or the other.

p.s. when it's a courtesy call they dont ever leave messages.

My name is Ryan, and I'd like to take the time to inform all of you of this phone number, 877-334-7153.

I am a T-Mobile Representative for T-Mobile's Courtesy Center, and we are based out of Hayden, Idaho. Our mission is to call our existing and best tenured customers with T-Mobile and inform them of the latest money saving opportunities as well as current promotions they might not know their eligible for. In the following points, I'd like to touch base with all of your concerns about scamming, and our policies (at least the ones I can share to the public)

Q: IS THIS A SCAM?

A: Good question, and why not wonder right? Why would your cellular provider call you asking how things are going? But no, this is no means a scam, we call our most tenured customers and make sure they are well informed of money saving opportunities.

Q: I AM NOT THE ACCOUNT HOLDER, WHY CALL ME??

A: Another great question, but really...it's simple. The reason we call you is because your phone was the FIRST ONE EVER ACTIVATED ON THE ACCOUNT.

Q: I GOT A CALL FROM THIS MESSAGE, BUT NOBODY LEFT ME A VOICEMAIL...WHY?

A: Simple, it's illegal for us to leave messages and against company policy. Call us back between the hours of 8:00am to 8:00pm Pacific Standard time to reach our Return Volume department.

Q: I KEEP GETTING CALLS EVERYDAY. WHY?

A: Because you don't answer your phone, we track the call as an "Answering Machine" and will keep calling until there is an answer. Want us to stop calling, pick up and tell us to stop. We have an Internal Do Not Call List.

Q: I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST, WHY AM I TALKING TO YOU?

A: Yes, you may be on the National DNC, but keep in mind, you are subscribed to T-Mobile as a wireless customer, so of course we're going to call you. Want us to quit calling, ask us...we have an Internal DNC.

Q: WHAT WILL I HEAR ON THIS CALL?

A: We are calling to try and save you money on your current bills with T-Mobile, sometimes process handset upgrades, and look for monthly discounts, as well as inform customers of new promotions.

LONG STORY SHORT, WE ARE NOT SCAMMING YOU, WE WANT TO TRY AND SAVE YOU MONEY. IF YOU GET A CALL FROM T-MOBILE IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, YOU'LL HEAR THE FOLLOWING:

"Hi, this is (___) calling from T-Mobile's Courtesy Center, is (____) available?"

"We're calling today to let you know of a new family plan that we think might be of better value to you at this point. Let me please ask you some questions, to verify if this plan will work. This call may be recorded for quality and training purposes.

Q: What's the new plan?

A: UNLIMITED TALKING (FOR THE FIRST TWO LINES), UNLIMITED TEXT AND PICTURE MESSAGING (FOR THE FIRST LINES), AND 5 GB OF 4G DATA (FOR THE FIRST TWO LINES)...keep in mind if you go past 5 GB of data, you'll throttle down to 3G speeds, but can still browse as much as you want. The plan is the, TRULY UNLIMITED FOR FAMILIES FOR $159.99 pre taxes.

If you want to add lines, add them for as low as $10.00 or for as high as $30.00. Keep in mind, those add a line prices do not include data, only your choice of minutes and unlimited texting.

NEW RATE PLAN RESTARTS THE CONTRACT FROM THE DAY YOU GET IT, BUT WILL NOT EFFECT YOUR UPGRADE TENURE. UPGRADES ARE BASED OFF YOUR TIME WITH T-MOBILE, NOT BASED OFF CHANGES TO THE ACCOUNT SUCH AS A RATE PLAN CHANGE.

After the rate plan change, we'll ask you about discounts, and how much spend for home internet, and if you have any need for a new line.

Also keep in mind, EVERYBODY we call has been pre-selected for this rate, EVERYBODY that we call has overages or don't get the value they can get in these new plans.

Now that you have all the information, on why we call-you all can quit doubting.

Now it's my turn to rant...

If you are driving and say you can't talk, then why did you pick up? If you cannot talk, then don't answer. YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME, AS WELL AS T-MOBILE'S WHEN YOU ANSWER.

If you are talking and cannot talk, don't pick up, and don't sound annoyed that we called because YOU answered. If you cannot talk, then don't answer. YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME, AS WELL AS T-MOBILE'S WHEN YOU ANSWER.

If you are not the account holder, and if we ask to leave a message, please do it. Back in the day when people got phone calls and if they we're not there, a message was left. Don't complain that we called the wrong number, REMEMBER THAT IF IT WE'RE NOT FOR THE ACCOUNT HOLDER, YOU WOULD NOT HAVE A PHONE EVEN...the least you can do is leave him or her a message.

So yeah, a courtesy call from T-Mobile may be coming for you, we've been operating since before Christmas of 2010 and still going strong. We'll talk soon! ;)

This is T-mobile.  They called me and were talking about it being time for my free upgrade.  I went along with it(though I was also skeptical), but needed to change my billing address.  I had them change it, and about a minute later I was checking my t-moblie account online and it showed the address change (i also got a t-mobile text message that my addy had been changed.  I am confident it's really them.

I got a call tonight. They said they were tmobile but they asked for the old account holder (my mom) instead of me. I'm skeptical whether or not this is truly tmobile. They are my service provider, and the person on the other end of the line didn't request any personal information and instead inquired as to my satisfaction level with my plan & phone.  Despite the fact there were no probing questions, it still seemed a bit sketchy. They knew my plan and my phone model so maybe it is legit but play things on the safe side if this number contacts you. Don't give out personal info or any billing/account info!

I just called 611, told them about it, asked if it was legit and they said I wasn't up for an upgrade so it's at the very least a third party, they'll probably be calling me back later today, they seemed to know a lot about my account which scars me.

I received a call from this number. This was t-mobile and the caller was interested in informing me of the mobile broadband being pushed at this time.  I then contacted T-mo customer service (611) and was assured that this was a legit call and that there is a new marketing push for mobile broadband.

I have called tmobile yesterday and again today, and I had also received a call about 11 AM each day. I really do think this is a line tmobile uses to inquire how my customer service calls went. I bet we all here in this thread use tmobile..

They claim to be t-mobile but I am almost positive it is scam artists.  They called me last year when I was thinking about getting an upgrade.  The guy listed off a couple options but then when I told him I wanted to think about it he acted really shady.  He said, "Make sure you call this number back" and then he said something weird about not being able to order it online, so it didn't hit me until afterward that it was most likely a scam.  Thank God I didn't give them my info.  THey called me again today and I was totally on to them.  They start by asking customer service questions to get you to believe it's routine.  Don't fall for it!!!!!

I've been getting these calls lately, too, but never answer them. In fact, I never answer any calls on my cell or home phones unless it's someone in my contacts list, figuring anyone legitimate would leave a message. Needless to say, I do have T-Mobile, so I'm glad to know it's them, though I'm irritated that they're doing it and will continue to ignore the calls.
