Called from blocked number and is coming to serve me with papers.  Gave me a claim number.  When I called the number, they kept putting me on hold and would not give me their company name or address.  Would not tell me what this was about.  Threatened to come to my job and home.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I received several calls from multiply people, from different numbers with the same message about taking legal action against me regarding a loan. They stated that I was going to be arrested on my job for fraud. They claimed that there was a pending lawsuit against my name and SSN. I received a call from David Jones(949-800-7034) and Officer Alex Turner(855-846-4750) claiming they work for United Assets. A call from Steve Sebastian(760-933-1543), Sebastian Taylor (670-795-7354) claiming they work for Legal Allegations. I also received a call from a Mike Watson & John Watkins (279-639-8654). They all ended the call wishing me luck as the situation unfolds upon me.

I fell for it.  I paid them 2 of 3 payments.  They too called my cell and said they were attempting to serve me papers and sorry they missed me.  He said if I made an arrangement now I could stop the delivery and settle.  I told them I didn't have the full amount and he said if I didn't make a payment plan I would be liable for $6-$7K due to bank fraud regarding a payday loan.  I have one final payment of $313 and I logged on to see why it wasn't out of my account.  Then I found you guys : (
The number on my letter is 855-411-4649 for Mark Wilson.  Now no one answers the phone and I'm here, reading how stupid I was.  AND, I too was scared while at work. THey threatned to tell my roommate, to serve at work or at home the next day.  I was so freaked out I was crying on the phone from confusion and disbelief.  I want my money back!!!!!!

I got a call from a local pay phone from a woman named Crystal claiming she's coming to my job today to serve me with papers. She left the "Claimant's" phone number as 1-877-495-8942 and said since she hasn't received a stop order from them, she's coming to my job and needs my Supervisor to sign off as a witness to the civil case being filed against me. The number she called me from is a pay phone in my are and she said she's in the area to serve me with legal documents. If this is just a debt collector, how can I file charges/a complaint against them. They never mention a company name, just a file/claim number.

A company called "Unified Asset Solutions" they called my cell and left a voice mail saying a Judy Burke had some field documents for me to sign, and she would be in my area tomorrow(Friday) and would be stopping by my residence or place of employment, and if I had any other questions I could call 855-398-3352 and talk to the person who filed the claim. I called them back and "Mike jacobs" told me I have an un paid payday loan from 2007, and that a Donna would be coming to the house, the vm said Judy was coming! My daughter got on the phone and told them that they better not ever contact anyone in our family or place of business or anyone associated with us again or she would sue them for harassment. They didn't have anything to say. I noticed alot of people have been bothered by these people by multiple phone numbers. I'm glad I read them all so now I won't be so worried.

I just got a called from these people and they disclose to my daughter that I was going to be served tomorrow with papers, and they gave a  tel 888-280-3233  . Anyway I called and they told me the same thing that I was going to  go to court for this ,ect, then she said it was for a payday loan, and she said that it was taken out with the intent to defraud a banking institution!!! Anyway what they dont know is that I work for a legitimate attorney that handles commercial and regular collections and I know the process. (I handle all the pretrials,ect ) They sound like a scam and I am sure they are one . What gave it away is that they called to let me know I was going to get serve tomorrow( basically taking a chance that I would purposely avoid service ,since I know when they are going to try to serve me))) but I am baiting them to keep up with their violations. I am thinking if anyone is intrested , I would like to do a class action lawsuit .( just to take them down)  , for false and misleading information.  Its these idiots that make the entire collection industry look bad.

Marc, I would like to know if there are any other names they go by. I recently repaid all of my legit debts in January and now I seem to be getting a ton of "zombie debt" recovery efforts from different agencies; four so far. You had mentioned the phrase "group of companies" and that is why I am asking if there are other names involved. Thank you for any information you can provide, Tricia

I finally got through to this "company" today  after  a week of their harrassment. I was told I had gotten a letter mailed to my po box (which i havent had in SEVERAL years) in January and that was my notification. I laughed and said how was that proof that they had notified me of anything when it would have been returned. He said it was. Then I asked him to send me something in writing to the street address they had and I would be happy to  take a look at it and take care of it if need be. He offered to email me. I told him that was illegal and what he needed to do was send me a certified letter. He said it was not illegal. After going back and forth with this bonehead for several minutes, I mentioned that I knew what proper proceedure was for collectors and his methods were unethical if not illegal. He said they weren't debt collectors....SO THEN WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO COLLECT A DEBT?! I told him at that point I was contacting the FBI, the AG, and local law enforcement and would see him in court if that is what it takes.

Scammers. Know your rights, and don't back down.

I am a New Orleans attorney gathering information and personal stories in order to file a nation wide class action lawsuit against this group of companies.  In short, this group buys old payday loan debt and then collects it by using threatening and illegally coorecive methods.  The story is always the same: "papers" of some kind have been filed and the debtor is being contacted in order to facilitate service of process.  The only problem is that they do not file law suits and therefore, there is never any process to be served.  Accordingly, this group of companies (believed to be owned and/or controlled by one man) is breaking the law in a concerted and deliberate manner.

To that end, if you are interested is possibly pursuing this matter, please go to my website (marcmichaudlaw.com) and complete an evaluation form.  Once I get enough participation, I intend to file a class action lawsuit naming all of the associated companies.

- Marc.

I got several calls from this company too.  I got them from the 877 # then a 757-389-8400 #.  Very rude and said the city contacted them that they were unsuccessful in serving me.  I called the courts and they have no records of this.  The company states its for a pay day loan from 2007 and this is the first I've heard of this debt.  I asked for documentation of the debt and they refused-also I said I would mail a money order (just so I could get their address) and they refused to give it to me.  I am reporting them to BBB for harassment because now they are blocking their # and calling from a private # and leaving messages.  They even told me that I called them first which isn't true- they called my cell and I answered.

I just received a call from a restricted number saying that a "Mrs. Joyce" was in my area earlier this week and couldn't catch up with me (which is funny because I am home all day and night LOL) and that she would be out my way again the first part of next week because she has some documents that need my signature. She also stated I needed to "contact the claimant's office" and reference case # yadda yadda... and if I resolve the issue have them send her a "stop order". She left a number of 855-844-3538 and said "I have been notified and best of luck to me"... First off, I don't HAVE any unpaid debts, 2nd "debters prisons" are outlawed I do believe, and 3rd, after my husband lost his job I don't have enough to pay attention, much less pass out to scammers! Let them try to sue me... can't get blood from a turnip ya know! BITE ME SCAMMERS!

These scumbags just called my cell, my home and called me at work.  All I told the woman was what company is she calling from and she said I had to call this # where my file is:  855 844 3538.  I called the number and yep, Unified Asset Solutions.  I also told her to remove my number and never call my job again.  I work for a major Investment Bank and I will inform security if they continue to call and harrass me at home.  I also have comcast and will block their number from my home phone and cell phone.  I have received no letters from a collection agency and am unaware of any debt for payday loan.  I am drafting a letter to the attorney general on this company for the scare tactics as well.

I recieved a call from Crystal as well.  She said that she would be in my area on Monday and she would call 2 hours ahead of time she had some papers for me to sign off on.  She didnt state for what all she did was leave the 877 number for me to call. Me being suspicious of the whole thing called the number back and got UAS which is Unified Assest Solutions. The man was saying the exact same things that he told the rest of you all.  That it was my lucky day and they would settle this payday loan back from 2007 and that I only had today to pay something and they had a person they pay 300 dollars to bring the papers to your house and then they will garnish somebody. BIG SCAM!!!!! Happy I read the rest of ya statements to

I received call stating same thing that I was going to be sued in court for a debt from 2007. I do not have any unpaid payday loans outstanding and I am not sure what this was for. He came on the line stated I have an amount of 2500.00 to pay or could settle out of court for 500.00 now. I didn't have the 500.00 now so they put me on silent hold and then told me I could do installments for 750.00 and they set up check dates to withdraw money. They got 150.00 from me already, but after researching and reading other posts I am going to cancel my card and file a complaint. The gentlemans name was Frank Lowery from Unified Asset Solutions and he said he was going to file a stand down order for me. Think we all need to complain about this company so that they are out of business for good.
