I cannot believe people these days. Thanks goodness for this website! So many first hand testaments to this unlawful scammer.

Yes, I am one of those people that got called on a debt I supposedly owed. I had a call from a man to verify that I was at work, so he could serve me court papers. First RED FLAG here. No one from a random company is going to call you first to make sure you there to serve you papers.

He gave me the telephone number 1-866-638-1964 to call about the 'debt I owed'.

Upon calling this number, Joseph Macnanara (from the 'Offices of E. Pendleton & Associates') answered and proceeded to explain to me that I had an unpaid debt from a cash advance place, from 2006. This part is true, I had one, failed to pay it right away, but settled with the company in 2009 and received a official letter stating that my debt had been paid in full. (Cover your own behind people, always keep records of this kinds of transactions). This guy had ALL of my information, full name, SSN, my old address, names of my family members, and bank account numbers.

This 'Joseph' guy proceeded to tell me, that during that time in 2009, the debt wasn't fully paid and I owed an addition $350, on top of a $450 lawyer fee and a $100 dollar court fee.  Which comes out to a lovely even number. When in one?s life, does a owed debt come out to an even number? Never!

I asked 'Joseph' if I could have the summons stopped, he placed me on hold for all of 3 minutes, and came back to the phone stating that the papers were no longer going to be served. He then asked me if I could go ahead and $100 over the phone, and the other $250 would be taken care of at a later date. Another RED FLAG. Nothing is going to be decided that quickly, on a matter of owing money.

So I hung up, and started doing my research. This is one of the first websites I found, with all too realistic accounts of what I was currently going through. Talked with some co-workers of mine, and found out another person went through the same thing.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!

I then called 'Joseph' back, and stated that I needed him to mail me an official copy of an explanation of debt from this supposed law office on their official letterhead. Then proceeded to tell him that I was going to have my lawyer look into this before I paid them anything. 'Joseph' stuttered and stammered when answering my question, and somehow magically had my new address, of which he didn't have earlier when I had talked to him. At this point, my temper got the best of me and I flat out asked him if he was a scam artist. He then informed me that what people put in the internet isn't true, and insisted that I pay over the phone now to remedy the situation. RED FLAG #3. After asking him again if he was legit or not, he quickly said "I will send you this information via mail, and must terminate the phone call right now." and hung up on me.

Needless to say, I don't expect to hear any information from these people again.

Know your stuff people, and don?t let lowly scam artist get the best if you.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I got a call today too, from good ole Bob Caldwell.  I was going to ask all of you, did you at one time or another use
a Cash Advance type loan place. Say about 2000-2005 or so?  I think it is someone who is getting a hold of this info
and claiming that you still owe it.  Ha, I work at a freakin bank! I have had my credit checked, my SS # run through check
systems several times, I know there is not anything out there.  I pay my debts you scamming fockers!!

i got the same exact thing today!!! bob caldwell. same phone number and everything. i am in phx az... heres the funny thing.. they claim this debt is from a payday loan from feb. 2003. was never on my credit report or nothing. so march of 2010, i get a call again. they said i owed them 600 and something. i was crapping bricks because i was due to close on my newly built home and didnt want any surprises, so they said they would settle for 350... so i paid it. i'll be damned if they didnt call me today and tell me i owe the remainder of the debt and that the 350 i paid was simply a payment. almost 4yrs later? they can kiss my grits.it is a bunch of b***s***... i swear it is.

I got the same call. Bob Caldwell is not even a private investigator. If you follow his linked in page to his business website, it is set up to look like a PI's site, but it's just a scummy collection site in disguise. Hence the weird pay by check link. Also, he listed a license number. Pssh. Fake. Look it up on Indiana's professional regulation site. No one named Robert Caldwell has ever been a licensed PIi. That state. There is a cosmetologist, a respiratory therapist and some others. No private investigators. Scam, scam, scam. Good luck coming to my house, Bob Caldwell. If you bothered to make the trip, I'd have you arrested. Idiot.

I got that same call but the caller was a Bob Caldwell from a Unknown number on my cell phone. Would not give me any of his information except that he was an investigator and would be at my home between 1-2pm and to be here to show valid ID. Everything you wrote was word for word what he said to me. BUT when I called the number, no one answered and kept sending me to one specific extension (x256). I did find a Bob Caldwell in Ft. Wayne, IN but I live in Portland, Oregon....he said he would be in my area..on Dec 20, 2013. That is a long ways to serve someone one papers.

I received a phone call today from Timothy Bradwell, who stated he was calling from the Dept of Legal Services.  Stated he would be at my house or place of business within 24 - 48 hours to deliver correspondence of legal allegations against me.  If I had any questions regarding the legal allegations I was to forward those questions to 1-866-638-1964.  After contacting that number and speaking to Joseph McNamara they claimed I owed Advance America $250 from 2008.  May or may not...I don't recall 5 years ago.

They are calling now from 8775133996.  Looked up this number and it was a mobile number.SCAMMER.   I can not even find a legit listing for E. W Pendelton

If anyone is contacted by this non-existent firm DEMAND proof of their claim. By mail. NOT e-mail or fax.
If you have not received a full, complete and legitimate letter of validation, their claims are invalid and are most likely  pure fiction. These scumbags are liars. If they had a legal right to collect a debt, they'd have no problem providing proof of it as required by law. They do not provide any proof, because they have no proof. They do not have any valid claim to any debt.
A fax. is NOT proof of anything. Not in any way. A fax. is completely invalid as proof of anything, in any court of law, in any jurisdiction. An e-mail is an even less valid form of proof of anything. It's not your job to prove you don't owe a debt. It's THEIR job to prove you do. Legally, as per federal law. These jokers will NOT be able to do that.

well ben i wanted to c if u would reply and i kinda see what i figured was true u had something against this company like i said i owed the debt so there not scamming me and you also sound like ruth the truth same story as the letter and the building and being poorly written so it sound like you left all the comments and i did get a letter through fax i googgle map the building probably just like u did the picture said 28 gratton which wasnt the address when i looked it had a list of business at the address so i kinda figured something was wrong when i put the peg icon to the front there was office buildings infront which eased my fears it was the back of the building in the picture now i dont care if people pay this company or not or if they call them or not but im not gone take advice from you cause you seem uninformed and bias you posted on here as 2 or 3 different people cause of your own agenda which isnt good i no i owed this debt and people should come to there own decision instead of listening someone with bias im not saying they will sue you or there a law office i just think there a collection agency and this is coming from someone without bias the public should reach there own decision people no what they owe

Bill, they tried to scam money from and they sent me an email that was poorly written. When I looked up their supposed law firm and business there was no building nor was there any firm by the name of E.W. Pendleton. Don't be a fool and give them your money because you will further feed these idiots and put others at risk as well. Every state has a statute of limitations on loans as well. If you still don't believe, then ask them to send you a letter of validation through the mail or ask them to contact your lawyer if you have one

i check this to see if i got reply from the person i replied to and your telling me no its a scam i think i would no what loan i took out or if some information i got was correct you seem to be more mad i paid a debt i owe your probably the same person leaving all of those comments it seems as if u have a vested interest in people not paying ther bills i dont no about you or any one else but i paid a debt i owed i cant speak for you or anyone else

They call about some debt you supposedly haven't paid from 7 years ago and they threaten to sue. When you ask for documentation they send you a poorly written letter with a fake law firm heading. The address isn't even legit nor is the business itself. Most likely some idiot who learned about this scam while serving a stint in prison.
