Do you have a fax number for these people??
| Lou 2014-06-10 18:36:18 Debt Collector |
I have received an automated call from this number (Gladstone) today looking for a K Hughes. I have been receiving calls of this type for this person and her family since I moved to this area and began using this this number 10 months ago. I always call them back to let them know they have the wrong number. I have told these agencies time and time again that I am not this person they are looking for. They keep telling me they will remove my number from their list, but apparently they don't follow through. These agencies do have K Hughes' address on file. Why won't they just give up calling this number and send an agent or have the sheriff serve them with legal documents instead of harassing those of us who end up with the recycled phone numbers of deadbeats?

I received a call from 1-877-775-8512 saying to call them. Also, they can be reached at 415 Younge St. Ste 200, Toronto, Ontario M5B 2E7. I did not call them and do not plan on calling them. Hopefully, they do not ever call again.

I also called the Gladstone no. and informed them that the person they are asking for is NOT at the no. they've been calling. I also informed them the no. has been mine for almost a decade and I have NO idea why I have been getting calls over the last 15 months for that unknown person. They were politely informed that I am on the Do Not Call registry and have been for years, and should they call me again I will be filing an official complaint... which they really don't want as they are an established company.

For anyone who has had a debt which is more than 2 years old from the last time you acknowledged it, acknowledge meaning paid a payment toward, admitted this debt to the collector, ect. After 2 years from the last time of acknowledgement to the person you owe or the collector on their behalf, don't worry, THE STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS HAS EXPIRED . The statute of limitations is only valid 2 years after the last time you have acknowledged this debt. This means the company you owe the debt to cannot sue you in court for this debt, nor can any collection agency on their behalf. All that can be done is your name can be entered in the credit bureau for 6 years hurting your credit. What the collection companies will do is when the debt is to be removed after the 6 years is try to contact you and trick you into acknowledging this debt over the phone, by email, or fax. Once you acknowledge the debt, say by phone for example, if you say "Yes, I know I owe money for this debt", or anything like this, they will tape this conversation and can now put this debt back in the credit bureau for 6 more years. They still can never sue you as they usually try to state in their letters to you that they will commence legal action against you. This is just a tactic used against people who don't know any better. Once this debt is removed from the credit bureau, it can never be collected from you through court, can never be put back in the credit bureau unless you are "dumb" and acknowledge this debt. Don't talk with them on the phone, don't write letters back, or faxes trying to resolve anything.
What you can do is fax this collection agency a letter(must be a fax to be legal), In this fax you will write " I Do Not Acknowledge This Alleged Debt". Make sure you end with your closing regards such as- Truly, and under this leave about 4 spaces and print your name. Above your printed name you will sign your name in writing, and above your signed name you will initial the letters W.P.- this means( without prejudice) this will show them you are doing this legal and they will stop trying to contact you immediately. This means if you want to take them to court for harassment if they don't stop, you can use this fax you sent them in court because you have sent it and it's content -without predjudice-(W.P.) You cannot use this document in court if it doesn't have W.P. on it above your signature. This goes for any type of fax in any other situations as well. Now that you are in control by sending a single fax, make sure you also explain in your fax that you do not wish to be contacted any more by their company(make sure to state collection company name), or harassed any further in this matter. dated as well. They will stop contacting you. They will however sell your collection to a different company, but it takes about a week or longer to start contacting you again, repeat the simple fax to the new collection agency and enjoy.
After the first 2 years of a company trying to collect the debt and you haven't acknowledged the debt, the company will write this debt off through the accounting principle- a bad debt expense-
bottom line is I owed 12,000 between 2 credit card companies and their is nothing anyone can do about it, my credit is now restored and since it has been 10 years since this debt, they still try to phone and collect this debt, and I just fax them I do not acknowledge this debt.
Take back your life

Thank you, Curtis!
This # has been calling about 15 times a day for my roommate's ex-wife. I called the toll-free number you posted and spoke with a CSR names Mike to have my # removed from their list. He was very polite and respectful, and he said I should stop receiving calls immediately... Hopefully will see it in action.

they called earlier and I just called it back....actually on the phone with that number now....somehow it connected and no one answered but I am listening to a guy have a conversation with someone else on the phone. Still no clue who/what they are...but he did tell the other person they are actually in Toronto...then asked for a number he could call tomorrow.... been silent for awhile now just listening to some moving around, coughing...etc.

recieved 4 calls from this number since last night, no one ever talks.. it's just loud noise and hangs up. I finally called back, and it's a collection agency trying to collect from someone who lived in this house 26 years ago, he died before we even moved in.. annoying. I asked them to stop calling.. so we will see if they call again in another 2 hours.

Received 3 calls in a row from this number today 877-775-8512. First i could hardly make out the name when i called back and got a machine. they even left a reference number and said to call back to see how one of their analysis could assist you....huh! Don't know who they were until now. I owe no money anywhere so don't know why I'm being called, and if they keep calling I'm gonna get real nasty. hope they stop after I identify myself cause I owe nothing anywhere. hate that kind of stuff.

If you tell a collection company not to call your place of employment or your cell phone, then they are, by law, not legally able to call. If they call you at home and you don't want them to, send a registered letter telling them not to call you and that all communication is to be by mail

Received a voice mail from this number for a Crystal. I don't know such a person. This company is obviously unprofessional if it calls numbers for people who don't live there.

I just love bill collectors even though I owe no one. bill collectors are paid on a performance basis so just be polite to them and give them phony info, my favorite saying is "my payckeck goes into the bank at monthend regardless of whether you collect on a debt. I just purposely wasted some minutes of your time s****ace hahaha."

Call the 1 800 number above....inform them that they keep calling for (whoever) and they don't live at this number. They advised me that they sometimes get wrong numbers, so it's good to call in and let them know.
Guy that answered was very nice too. Thanks for the help Curtis! :)

I called 1.877.775.8512, but not luck. I did some research on the web, and found Gatestone's toll-free # 1-800-900-4238. I called it, pressed "0" and was transferred to an agent who advised they will remove my # from their list within 24 hours. We'll see if they follow-through or not.
