Got a call on my cell from this number today, in Toronto, at 1:15 p.m. Normally I don't get 800 calls on my cell and, though I normally do not answer such calls, and answered. Was totally unintelligible and could not hear anything so told them they had the wrong number and they hung up. Now I find out it's Rogers apparently calling about my new phone? Strangely I got another call from Rogers about a week ago wanting to upgrade me one day after I had just got a new phone and plan change.

After receiving MANY calls from this number, I finally answered. It was Rogers calling to check on recent changes to my plan. Why doesn't the call say it's from Rogers then?? Didn't seem legit, so I checked with Rogers. It's a third party marketing group that is contracted out.

I just upgraded to the Galaxy S5 and they started calling me yesterday. I ignored the call yesterday and today and decided to look it up on 800notes.com. Once I found out it was Rogers, I logged into my Rogers account, clicked "Update My Profile" and then clicked a grey tab at the top that says "Update Marketing Permissions".
This is where they become sneaky. You HAVE TO CHECK the boxes of the stuff you DON'T WANT. Normally it's the other way around (where you check off boxes for stuff you want to subscribe too).
There are 4 sub-tabs, "By Email", "By Text Messaging", "By Telemarketing", and "By Direct Mail". Check off all 4 checkboxes under all 4 tabs so they don't ever bother you again.
Once you submit, it says "Thank you for completing this marketing permissions request. Your request will take effect within five days."

It's been a week and every single day around 11 this number keeps calling me.

Getting called by it about once a day, have not answered. Assume it is telemarketing or somewhat.

It is Rogers, they called me too.

I was expecting a phone call from my insurance company, which has an 1-877 number. So of course, I answered the phone when this number called me. They wanted to know if I was satisfied with my newly upgraded phone, and wanted to confirm a few details about my plan. As soon as she asked me if other people in my household used Rogers services, I got very suspicious and just hung up. What do other people in my home have to do with my plan and services anyway?! Trying to get more information out of me, definitely not happening. Have received 3 calls from this number since and have not answered any of them. I would recommend ignoring any calls from this number!!

I have never dealt with Rogers in my life!

Rogers Customer Service shouldn't have to call me on my cell phone (when we have our home phone with them as well), and ask for me to verify information when THEY call ME for THEIR purposes, regardless of whether those purposes are to make more money or improve their customer service with my input.
Have asked them twice to stop calling me, but they continue, so it's pretty obvious they're not actually interested in customer service or my input. Shame, that.

Got a call everyday but got bored and decided to answer the call. Got an extra GB of data for $3 increase on my bill so a total waste of time

I got a call from these guys yesterday and was being told that I was already over 1/2 my data plan cause I own a Blacberry Z10. I told them it was impossible. At the time of the call, I could not acces my account. After the fact, when I was able to check, my account was in fact telling me that I had only used 26.4 MB of my 500 MB plan. She wanted to upsell me an my family more Data. I went to my Rogers store in the afternoon and they told me it was Sales or a scam. This number just tried to call me again and did not answer.
Have a great day everyone :)))))

Thought it was weird that it came up on my call display as from the United States. Definitely didn't answer it and no message left. Just checked my marketing permissions on Rogers.com and they've all been reset...needless to say I changed those again.

WTF keeping me call all the times! for what?
Lex 2013-05-22 18:36:55 Unknown
Just got a call. I did recently upgrade my Rogers phone but I never answer 1800 numbers. I find it easier adding these numbers to a contact called "Ignore" and put it straight to voicemail. I never notice unless I check the call history. Best way I find to ignore the telemarketers!
Frustrated 2013-05-07 16:01:55 Unknown
I spoke to rogers and they told me to go into my rogers and change the marketingt permissions so I won.t receive anymore marketing calls however it may take some time to update their database.

I too have recently upgraded my phone and this number has been calling me. I find this very annoying on Roger's behalf and I will be taking my business elsewhere. I never had these issues with Telus or Fido (per-Rogers). I am thoroughly discussted by Rogers's marketing practises. they could simply send a text for their offers.
Kelly 2013-01-23 14:06:56 Unknown
They tried calling me once
but haven't spammed me, yet. Hopefully not.
I think on my answering machine I sound stern enough to scare them away hehe

I upgraded my Roger's phone and they just called me. With the endless spam coming from long distance numbers, I no longer answer ones I don't know. If they don't leave a message on my voice mail, I come here to 800Notes to check them out first.
After reading these comments, I'm going to use one of the options available on my new phone. It's called the "Reject List".. I just added their number to it and now they won't bother me again :-)

Called me twice so far, didn't answer.
Mouse 2012-12-19 21:21:55 Unknown
This number has called me every single day without fail for the past week. They always call at times where I'm unable to answer the phone and, even if I was awake or near the phone to do so, I don't answer telemarketers.
They don't even show up on my caller ID.
Waiting it out to see if they stop calling.

just got a call from this number, pulled the Sienfield trick, said I was busy, may I please have their home number and I'll call them at home when I have time.......no answer. hung up.
Pete 2012-11-30 22:28:54 Unknown
They said something like "Please hold for Rogers telemarketers. To be placed on our do not call list press 7 at any time" and then it went to some music.
I didn't press 7 as I figured it was a scam.

This phone number directly dials to numbers that are associated with recently upgraded mobile devices. They will continue to call you until you dial them back.
This number will dial you to someone who will ask you questions regarding how are you enjoying your phone, review plan/phone changes, and also suggest you to add some bundles. In other words, it's some new marketing scheme Rogers tries to do.
They might also ask you for an e-mail address so they can send some information regarding how to start with your phone. I suggest making some fake e-mail or give them a backup e-mail.
Just say you are enjoying your phone and plan, and that you do not need anything else to be added to your plan. Good luck.
