I would like you to know for your self that the comment from 6-10-10 "gary" is an actual satisfied consumer that is happy with the way she was treated and the plans we have to help people take care of their debts. if you dont like what i have to say you can hang up and go back to writting your assumptions. Just remember, you should know the whole story before you form an opinion. we get enough un-informed guesses from our government.

The voice mail from "The State Claim Adjuster's Office" sounded like there was some official state agency after me, but in my state there is no "Claim Adjuster's Office".  It's just a name this collection agency uses to sound more ominous.  They're after me for a credit card debt, probably legitimate and perhaps originally owed to Discover Card or Citibank.  They weren't impolite on the voice mail, but I would be very suspicious of the report here ("Gary", 10 Jun 2009) that calls them "the most understanding and helpfull".  Don't let the bad spelling convince you that Gary's report came from a real person; more likely, it's from a collection agent who wants you to feel comfortable returning his call.

I keep getting call from State Claims Adjuster asking that I return their call.  When I do I receive a message stating that it is outside their business hours.....no matter what the time.  Not a very effective or professional way to do business.  If you want me to call you back, make sure to make it practical for me to get back in touch with you.

They are calling my number looking for my brother.  I don't know the whereabouts of my brother and they indicated that they would still continue to call me until i get a hold of him.

Yes I have a complaint with "SCA" known as State Claim Adjusters. For starters their name is misleading.  Claim adjuster typically refer to insurance claims, as in auto claims adjusters.  Bill collectors do not  "adjust" anything.  Additionally these people, SCA are the scum of the scum.  They are not licensed. They have violated every Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices as well as California law which expounds the federal law.  We have Jeff Coffey on recorder stating that "I am aware of the collection laws and I cann do whatever I want to collect a debt".  Ha, the jokes on you Jeff. We've filed with the CA State Attorney General and our attorney has the recordeing.  Hope you have personal liability coverage and your employer is solvent because we are coming after you.  Also you went to my mother in laws posing as a sheriff to serve a "warrant"  in civil cases it's called a summons idiot

Yes, but within limits. A debt collector cannot:

Call you before 8 a.m. and after 9 p.m. unless you agree.Call you repeatedly or use the phone to harass you.Trick you into accepting collect calls or paying for telegrams. Use obscene language, make negative comments about your character, or make religious or ethnic slurs.

Call you at work if the collector knows your boss does not allow such calls.

If you have an attorney, the collector should call that person, not you.

Fair play under the FDCPA also means a debt collector owes you the truth about who it is and what it intends to do. False statements and deceptive practices like the following are not allowed. A collector cannot:

?Claim to be an attorney or government employee when it is not.
?Send you documents that look like legal papers when they are not.
?State that forms sent to you are not legal documents when they are.
?Say that you committed a crime.
A debt collector threatened to sue me. Can it do that?

A collection agency can file a lawsuit to collect a debt. However, among the many things a collector is not allowed to do is threaten you with a lawsuit just to get you to pay the debt. Examples of threats and deceptive practices prohibited by the FDCPA are when the collector:

?Says it will garnish your wages or sell your property if it is not legal to do that.
?Says it will sue you, if the collector doesn't intend to sue.
?Is not truthful about the amount of money you owe.
?Says you will be arrested if you don't pay the debt.
?Threatens you with violence.

first my answer service played blank for 10 sec or so and a female voice said she was from state claim adjusters.voice did not sound like a live person sounded like pre recorded message to me. the name was so fast, played it 10 times and the name and middle int was wrong.so i tend to think its a false and not forward enough to be taken serious.forward means.this is my name. badge number.where my company is from.and why im calling you for.just a voice saying call this number.?????????????????????????.......

Vicous, hostile people who keep calling even though the person they are looking for does not live here. I am filing a police report next time they call.

We keep getting calls from this company for someone who is not at our number.  The first person I talked to was a female (name unknown) and she was very hostile.  She would not let me talk.  She would interrupt every time I tried to talk.  I called back and talked with Michael.  I explained that there was no such person at this number.  It was very spooky.  He knew my name, my husband's name and our address.  Obviously, researching us!  We have no back debt and are not in collections in any way shape or form.  When I asked to have our number removed, I was told that he would do some more research and might be calling back.  I am a little freaked out by how much information they had on us. My husband and I are considering filing a police report.  It is scary to be stalked and harassed this way.

I too received a call from this company. I found that they were looking for my ex wife. After some research I found that this is in fact a legitimate collections agency. I even found their website www.stateclaimadjusters.com.

Victor from State Claim Adjusters Office called me because I am in collection, he was the most understanding and helpfull person. He helped me with my finc situation and helped me settle my account with out all the demand and threats i get from other collection ageancy, he is not like any other collector i have dealt with was very pleasant to deal with and understood my situation and really worked with me to come up with a settlement arrangment I could afford

Victor called said he was from the State Claims office.  He was looking for my brother who is behind in his bills.
