They asked for me by my first name.  When I answered him, he said  "okay, I will get back to you."
and then he hung up.  I would appreciate no more calls. Thank you.

If you research, the only reliable cancer organization (All cancers) that I know of is American Cancer Society. As someone who just lost her dad to cancer and is a survivor of my own cancer, I deal with them. I am going to do the 12 hour walk to fight this unnecessary killer. Hopefully they can find a cure soon. This reputable and they have never called me.
I have a good relationship with other Cancer fundraisers for specific cancers and a legitimate organization will NOT call you without out some kind of relationship.

Here's how I answer:
"Department of Intelligence.  This call may be monitored for quality control assurance and/or illegal use of telecommunication purposes. Please stay on the line for the next available AGENT."  Then I play a little music.  Needless to say, they don't stay on the line.

If they do, however, I answer as follows: "This is AGENT CLERCH. What is the purpose of your call?"

They have been calling me about 2-3 times a day for the past 4 days.  I haven't answered, thanks to caller ID, but I'm really tired of it.  Next time I'll ask them to take me off their list.  Can't hurt, might help.  Thanks!

They called for a donation of $30.00.  Are they a fund we should help?

I'll probably be ostracized for this but I am an employee at Corporations for Character. Just so you guys know, this is a charity and therefore it's supposedly exempt from the do not call list. There is an in-house do not call list but you have to ask for it and if you hang up on them without asking for it they will continue to call. The same thing goes for if you don't answer the phone.

It's a terrible recording and the employees don't care if the calls sound terrible because the management treats them extremely poorly. With a scammy set up like that, is there any surprise really?

And as crappy as it is, they take a very high percentage of the donation. Last time I heard it was about 95% that the fundraiser keeps. That's stupid and unfair but the CFA agrees to it. I don't know why...

After responding "Speaking" (I NEVER say "Yes" to an unknown caller!) when asked "Is this the lady of the house?" I got the spiel about "...from Corporations for Character calling on behalf of Cancer Fund for America..." I had to talk OVER her to say "NOT interested, DO NOT call back!"

Caller ID said "Not Available". No one would answer my inquiries, but the line stayed open.

Seems they'd love a good "stealing from the sick" story, especially when cash-strapped people
are donating their few precious dollars. The news loves "outrage". If the other branches of the system can't be bothered to fix a nasty problem, try the press.

We keep getting these harrassing calls!  We are on "No call List". I do not understand what good or joy anyone gets in sending unwanted calls to people. They must be lost in life!

Some cancer foundation.  This is a first.  She actually said, "Don't worry, we're not doing research."  Nothing about not asking for money.  She was reading from a script.  I hung up while she was reading.  These people get to call the DNC list because they get to claim they are a charity even though they keep most of the money.  I'm tired of paying big bucks for my phone to be called by scammers.

This number belongs to a "for-profit" solicitor/ telemarketer/ fundraiser named "Associated Community Services" or "A C S" working on behalf of 3rd party "charities".  

You may also be getting the same hang-up or solicitation calls from other unknown numbers or "charities" but they may be coming from Associated Community Services. Some of the ACS "charities" include:

Some fun facts about Associated Community Services:

1. Per the State of Washington Secretary of State, only about 42% of collected donations go to the 3rd party "charity". I've read that in several cases they keep 80% of donations. In the case of Cancer Fund of America, the BBB indicates that the "charity" donated less than 3/10ths of 1% of cash contributions. These are  FOR PROFIT "charities".

2. ACS was sued by the State of Missouri and awarded $100,000+.

3. Google "Associated Community Services lawsuit" and see all of the other lawsuits and complaints ACS is involved in.

4. The State of Connecticut filed suit against ACS in 2009

5. The State of Oregon filed suit against ACS in 2010.

6. The State of Iowa filed suit against ACS in 2010.


Contact Associated Community Services at 248-352-2600 and ask for their customer service department and demand they put your number on their Do Not Call list.

File a Better Business Bureau complaint against Associated Community Services. They are listed with the BBB as "A C S" in Southfield MI. Don't forget the spaces between the letters when you search!

Contact the "charity" and demand your number be added to their Do Not Call list (good luck)

File a BBB complaint about the individual "charity" ACS is calling on behalf of.

Contact your State Attorney General and file an FTC complaint

This phone number is calling to try to SCAM money for a Cancer Charity. The Fundraiser is “Associated Community Service” A professional fundraiser caught up in the US Navy Veterans Association 100 million dollar fundraising fraud scandal. Has been sued by many states for using unfair and deceptive trade practices, violations of the do not call list and much more.  Or they are “Corporations for Character” acting as the professional fundraiser for the Fraternal Order Of Police nationwide. They suck 85% and 73% respectively out of your local communities at the same time they tell you, the prospective donor that 100% of your donations go the local charity. It is a potentially criminal misrepresentation.  
I have NOT called the number, nor will I.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions using potentially manipulative techniques, help you waste your donation on fundraising fees and high administrative expenses, or anything else related to the Breast Cancer Charity getting a small fraction of your donation, 12% to 27%. The BBB has said this charity gives LESS then 1% of your donation is put to the charitable cause. Some fundraiser's pocket as much as 73% to 99%. Also, there’s information on www.badgefraud.org on the massive numbers of warnings put out by Charities that do not use so called professional fundraisers and Real Police and Sheriff and Fire Departments as well as Veteran Medical and Children’s Charity warnings. But you can contact the folks there with any questions or requests or comments.

BadgeFraud (dot) org is doing a lot of really great things for the families of police fire vets and children’s charities by making sure your donations go where YOU intend. The people that post are NOT trying to raise money, they are trying to protect the money of the people who protect us, and that is something very good.

I wish someone (not a phone company) would invent a device we could attach to the phone where we could enter phone numbers that we want blocked and we would never be bothered with them again.  I think there one or two people I know whose numbers I would also add!

When did you make this up.  Cell phones have always been protected by the DNC List ... since a call to a cellular is handled just like any other call.  (And, no, there are no plans for a nationwide cellular directory, in spite of the warning email that goes around once a year.)

Lastly, political organizations and charities (so long as they are registered as such) do not need to recognize DNC numbers.  They are allowed to call!

This phone number is for "Cancer Fund of America Inc." at 514 W. Pickett Circle, Suite A Salt Lake City UT., 84115.  I received a phone call from this phone number weeks ago on my answering machine.  There was no message left, but the caller ID and the time stamps (that matched) gave this number.  Neither I nor my wife ever talked to them.  Today I received a letter demanding to know "where the $25.00 I pledged" is.  That "To date they have not received it."  I DID NOT pledge any money to these people and what's more, the letter they sent is very condescending, demanding that I send at least $5.00 "to cover the cost of printing and sending these pledge letters."  I have yet to check them out on the web.  But I smell a rat.  The implication of the letter is that either my wife or I had made a promise and have failed to keep it.  We give yearly to the American Cancer Society because we both have had parents who had died of cancer, not to mention that my wife is a 20 year surviver of this dreaded disease.  To imply that we'd make a promise and then renege is infuriating.

Cancer fund is the caller.  After being annoyed 6 times in two days by them calling and hanging up every time I answered the phone, I called the number back and was able to remove myself from their list, supposedly; we'll see if that happens.

These jerks called at 8 am in the morning. i only got 4 hours sleep, i hate morning callers jack-ss jerks. i sent a text to them to ceast and desists so apparently, this is their cell number. so send them texts and fill up their inbox!! also, i don't vote, and never gave this number to anyone but family and doctor emerg, so this had to be snarfed either from verizon or tracfone phone companies. My bet is Verizon probably sells them out. jack-ss's. How else could unlisted numbers be called??

I finally answered this time - have gotten several calls each week and have ignored them.  They never left messages.  The woman said she was calling about donations to the Cancer Foundation.  I told her I already donated to the Cancer Foundation.  She said thank you and hung up.  It will be interesting to see if I get continued calls from this number.

I got a call from them today as well. Luckily, only one phone in my house has an active ringer and they didn't disturb me as I slept.

Hung up as soon as I answered, so sick of these calls!!
