These people have called me 3 times in one week.

They are  high pressure tactics to get the money.  It is "hard sell" charity.

On National Do Not Call Registry! Do not want solicitation for cancer victims from this telephone number again!

THIS is a  scam group   I  have  had  3 calls from them ,  my private  house phone, my private emergency cell phone and my office phone.  I checked the  number  on line with google and  Snopes.com   The  company is  a physhing scam and  NOT a  registered  charity funding solicitor which is mandatory under the  IRS  code....So the  bottom line is  be aware of scammers ,check them out first before donating  money  or donate to local ones who you know and see in town.

When  you get phone calls such as  those mentioned on here  take down as much information you can as to the number, time of day and  what day they called  , remember what they said and  go online to the  FTC website and  report it on their on line form ...Remember  certain types of callers are not covered  with the  DO NOT CALL  LIST   this  applies  ONLY to TELLEMARKETEERS.

Called, answering machine picked up, no message left.
Time was 10:33 AM on a Friday.

Collecting for American Cancer Society

Time Warner has an excellent home phone.  Lots of features  lots of different lists to direct callers and block others.

Called again in the evening: 4 times in a two-minute span! Zapped every time. Not much of a learning curve with these folks...

These dirtbags called three times within one minute this morning! Phone Tray Free zapped all 3 calls. After the third one they must have finally acquired some semblance of a clue.

No idea who the caller was. I'd note that, despite what other respondents have posted, it's probably NOT the American Cancer Society ? they are a legitimate organization that is very unlikely to resort to this kind of behavior. It's more likely some outfit that's picked a similar name in hopes of confusing people. (I notice someone has listed "American Association for Cancer Support" above.)

Very pushy female caller.  Cancer Research client. Insisted on a donation. Didn't get it.

They said they were calling on behalf of the American Cancer Society. My number is unlisted and on the do not call list, unfortunately charities and political orgs are exempt from that. I asked to be put on their do not call list, caller was polite. Btw when I start getting bombarded by such calls, I hook my phone to the fax machine for a couple of days. Gives me peace and quiet for a long time afterwards!  Since I mainly use my cell phone anyway, this works well for me.

This number calls everyday.  No message!

They claimed to be a charity for cancer research and asked if it was okay to send me a donation mailer.  I told them they can send me something and I'll look it over.  They told me they only send mailers out to people who promise to donate money (to save money on postage) and proceeded to ask me how much I'd like to pledge.  I then told them I don't donate to cold call charities without details.  The person thanked me for my time and hung up.

It's possible they are legit, but it's never a good idea to agree to give money to a charity that calls you out of the blue, even if they don't require you to give out details over the phone.

Received a call from this number today, no message was left. Researched the American Association for Cancer Support. They were registered with the IRS in 2011, can also be found on GuideStar.org. But: "an organization?s inclusion on GuideStar.org does not satisfy IRS Rev. Proc. 2011-33 for identifying supporting organizations." Their website lists Knoxville, TN as address, GuideStar lists Powell, TN. Jula Connatser, the president, was formerly president of Children's Cancer Fund of America (2005-2010), with a total revenue of $15,827,340 for 2010, but no expert review nor an impact statement on GuideStar.org. You should think with that yearly budget, their impact should have been immense! The BBB has no info, the charity refused to disclose! They also received a subpoena from the NY Attorney General in regards to an industry-wide investigation into car donation charities after a review found fraudulent practices: http://www.ag.ny.gov/press-release/attorney-g ... ation-charities. Guess, we just start another non-profit then...

This number called me at 1:56 PM on August 14th,2012 and I have an unlisted number and am on the no call list

If you have Uverse, you can enter up to 20 different numbers into Exclusive Call Forwarding. Any call from a number on the list is forwarded to a number of your choice. Of course, I chose 888-382-1222, the do not call  registry.

This number called me on my home phone (unlisted), then on my cell phone (different area code than home phone).  Later the same day my credit card company told me my card had been shut down due to an attempt to hit me for an $18,000 charitable donation.  Credit card company said it didn't fit my pattern.  (No kidding).  Can't say it was the same people, but I'm bettin'.  They have identified themselves with at least two different names, both having to do with "cancer".  Definite scam; hope someone digs a hole in the jail house floor and puts them in it.

Oh, and it didn't stop there; they just keep calling.

the "handful of other FILTERS" means the computer can be instructed to dial "ALL of the numbers in area code 123
SEQUENTIALLY"....thus YOUR contribution to the telco for "unlisted / unpublished number" is wasted money (especially
since the computer can ALSO be instructed to "capture phone numbers that ring through but are not answered at the time"
so they can come back and call you again....

Would like to have this # stop calling my home phone. I am on the Do Not Call List. I don't pay extra for an unlisted phone number just so people will call. Why is my unlisted # being used.

Just called. Told them was not in a position to donate at this time since I just filed bankruptcy in an effort to save my home from foreclosure.  They said sorry and I asked them not to call again and they said ok. Will just have to wait and see but I'm not holding my breath.

Same as others. No message left on answering machine. Thank God for caller ID. I never answer my phone unless I know the number. If it's important they will leave a message.

I just got a call from this number about 15 minutes ago. Caller ID said "unavailable", so therefore so am I!  No message left.
