Thank you sooo much for the advice!! I called today and  for Max I told them im not verifying anything until i can get their mailing address etc one guy gave me an address of M.S Associates in Niagra Falls, NY He got upset w/ me b/c He kept trying to slide in questions about my debt, which by the way some facts on debt are valid, however, i believe has passed the Statutes of Limitations in the State of Michigan, i couldnt find the address he sent me online, called back to confirm, they got so mad and said theyre not telling me nothing and they sent my case back over to the company that sent to them and that the company was going to sue me!!  I called again to let them know I couldnt find their address online and wanted to confirm cause i had something to send them, he said they dont have a set address, that they have many addresses, then he said they werent dealing with me anymore, i told them that I was recording and they are a scam!

Tell him NOTHING! You can NOT be served on the phone. That was "Max's"
second mistake. His first was leaving such a message on your parents machine.
If you talk to "Max" again, tell him you want a complete notice of validation mailed to you . NOT e-mail or fax. Tell him that you will expect a valid, physical return address to accompany that notice. When "Max" refuses and starts to make threats & excuses, the case is closed. "Max" is a bottom-feeder. He is, most likely, nothing more than a blow-hard working for a fraudulent debt collection outfit. They will attempt to collect on invalid, time-barred or fictitious debt. They've also been known to attempt to collect on real debt, that they have NO legal title to.
Give "Max" NO information whatsoever! If he was legitimate he'd have it already. Confirm NOTHING! Admit to NOTHING! Tell "Max" that he will adhere to the state & federal laws in regard to the lawful collection of debt or he is wasting his time. Research & know your rights under the FDCPA. It's not hard. Just Google it. Tell "Max" you've done so. If possible, record all of his calls. Tell him as soon as you answer that you are doing so.
If you owe a legitimate debt contact the original creditor. Pay them if possible. If they have turned your debt over to a collector, or sold it, find out to who. NEVER pay an unverified collector a single penny!
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Debt Collector
I received a call from an unknown number, stating to be Mike Schwartz (Similar to Max Schwartz posted above) from an asset verification company.  He was speaking monotone and spouting out a ton of legal terms and stated "I have been notified." and would be under ligitation troubles if I didn't get back to him.

No idea what this is about.  Have a feeling it is a scam.

Any further info would be greatly appreciated.

This is a long summary, but you need to read it carefully if you think you are being threatened by a debt collector.

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) includes statements such as this:

* Every collector must send you a written ?validation notice? telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don?t think you owe the money.   ["Written" means snailmailed ... not emailed or texted]

* Debt collectors may NOT
- repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.
- falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives
- falsely claim that you have committed a crime
- falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company
- say you will be arrested if you don?t pay your debt
- say they?ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so
- communicate with consumers at their place of employment after being told this is unacceptable or prohibited by the employer.
- say that legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don?t intend to take the action
- use a false company name
- take or threaten to take your property unless it can be done legally;

The debt collector may not garnish your wages unless there is a court order to do so.
+ Many Federal benefits (including Social Security Benefits) are exempt from garnishment

You have the right to sue a collector in a state or federal court within one year from the date the law was violated. If you win, the judge can require the collector to pay you for any damages you can prove you suffered because of the illegal collection practices, like lost wages and medical bills. The judge can require the debt collector to pay you up to $1,000,

Report any problems you have with a debt collector to your state Attorney General?s office, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Wow, Im so glad that i googled this number. I received a called from a "Unidentified" phone number this morning. The guy that left the message sounds like a older man by the name of Max Schwartz, and was speaking very fast so i couldn't make out the name of the company he said. But he was stated that he was trying to find my husband and verify his address, place of employment, social security # and if we dint return the "curtiousy call" in 24 hrs he was going to file litigation charges that my husband may have to report in court. Im like what the heck.

Anyone have a clue if this is a scam or legit?

Debt Collector
A company alleging they are an arbitration service identifying themselves as M&S Associates are calling my friends, family and estranged family and leaving messages that make my friends and family believe I'm in legal trouble. This company has left messages stating I have been notified on my sister's voicemail numerous times. I spoke with one guy who requested my address to send me a package but refused to give any details. They are leaving numerous and repeated messages on other people's voice mail about me. The number they are calling from is 877-937-0563
