Hi All.

Just wanted to share my experience regarding 1-888-205-3346 x.151XX.  I got a call from a supposed chase rep too.  My father took the message for me as they called my home.  I was previously told that there are not extensions for Chase numbers.  So I called the number on the back of one of my chase cards (I have 2 cred cards and 2 bank accounts with Chase) and was told that there was nothing that anyone from Chase cred cards needed to talk to me about with either cred card account.  But I then asked for the fraud dept and was xferred there.

After about 5-10 min with that fraud dept gal (in India it seemed), I was able to ask her to check the number that I was told to call back after being told repeatedly that they were not trying to contact me for any reason.  She finally came back on the line and it was indeed legitimate and xferred me over to them.

I had some fraudulent activity and had cancelled my account due to that but a preorder was placed shortly before the fraudulent activity and so the rep was trying to verify that it was a legitimate charge.

*Phew*.

It's a Fraud.

Guy called.  Live voice.  Painfully slow talker.  Claimed he was from Chase fraud.  Gave the number and extension.  Called the number.  Woman spoke and wanted the credit card information.  Told her I would call Chase directly and wouldn't give her my card number.  She wanted my name then.

No fraud on the Chase card.

This is a legitimate number for the Chase fraud dept. I called the number on the back of my Chase Visa card to verify, and they told me it was indeed a legitimate number, and the person who sent me the letter was definitely a Chase fraud investigator.
It's always a good idea to call the number on the back of your card if you are unsure.

Called the number.  It is legitimate for Chase Fraud Dept (division, whatever).  Had my card number stolen a few weeks ago.  This call was a follow up to state my case was closed.  Didn't have to pay for the fraudulent charges on the card, which they had replaced a couple of weeks ago.  They asked me for either the cancelled card number or the new card number.  Since the old card was cancelled, I gave them that number.  They verified the bad charges and thanked me for following up.

Got a call from 224-222-5000, did not pick up and he left a message.  I listened to the message and heard a Middle-Eastern sounding person on the other line asking for me or my husband to call them back at this number with extension 15779.  After reading this I am glad I never called back, like user 'xcelpro', this person was asking about a credit card that had been closed.  BEWARE!!

This is a valid Chase dept. fraud number. Received a voice message from (via caller ID) 1- 224-222-5000 regarding a card closed a few months ago after Chase contacted me due to alerting me then to a $1.00 charge which was a test to see if the card number was valid before a larger amount is attempted. The investigator wanted to verify the validity of a charge that came through after the card was closed. It turned out to be a back order item, so the order happened prior to the identity theft attempt. The call back number 1-888-205-3346 and a 5 digit extension are valid. The extension is specific to the investigator at Chase Card Services. I called the 800 number on my statement first because I was not comfortable since the account was closed a few months ago, but it's a legitimate number. Chase is very active on trying to stop identity theft. If you get a call and are not comfortable calling it, DO at least contact the Chase number on the back of your card or from a statement so you can work with them to stop theft ASAP.

I also received a call from VISA Fraud Operations, investigating a closed account.  A representative (Wendy) called me, left an extension (x15835), and asked me for account verifications when I returned her call.  I did not provide the account verification, therefore she asked me to call the number on my credit card.  When I called the number on my credit card, they did transfer me to fraud operations, and the same representative answered the phone.

I did provide account verification at that time, and she was aware of the fraudulent activity and the nature of my claim.

Therefore, the call was legitimate, but you should NEVER provide account verification information unless you validate or trust the person you are speaking with.

Thanks for your feedback folks; it encouraged me to validate the caller through trusted channels of communications.

Same number, been called twice, asked for a number to call them back and it was bogus. I called Chase directly, spoke with several departments, including fraud, and they said there was no problem with my acct and that they had not contacted me. Going to investigate further.

I also got a call claiming to be from Chase, asking me to call this number, with a 15xxx extension (forget precisely), and when I called the customer service 800 number on my bill, they had no record of any call or any knowledge of the number.  However, because the call might have been related to a closed account (hence a different account number) I called back and got transferred to the fraud division.  There they did see that a representative had called and they transferred me to him and we handled our business.  He clearly knew the details of my account and fraud claim and confirmed that he had left a message earlier.  So this number is legit.

no, it actually is chase.

i just called the number on the back of my visa card, (800-524-3880), to confirm that it was in fact a real number (after i read this thread and got freaked out it wasn't).

you never really know who to believe once you're a victim of fraud.  i'd suggest going to chase's website and getting the customer service number from them (just in case you don't believe me, lol) and then verifying that the number is correct :)

that number is actually card services fraud operations. they are the ones handling investigations for accounts that was fraudulently used. nothing to worry about. if you call the number at the back of your card, then just tell whoever answer that you are calling back re a closed account, the person who answered would direct you to the person who left you the voicemail. simple as that.

Mine was from x15616.  I suspected it was fraudulent; that suspicion was confirmed when I searched the number online and was directed to the site.  Thanks!

Got a call on my answering machine "from Chase's Front Office Department"...requesting me to call 888-205-3346 x15795 to "verify info" on a Chase VISA with an account number ending in <4 digits>.  That account # was fraudulently used months ago by some phone company in Atlanta, so that card was cancelled.  When I called the 888 # (NOT the same as the Caller ID on my phone!), I was on hold for about 10 minutes via a nice sounding system.  The person who answered wanted my account number, I said "I don't have the one they were calling about since it was closed"...so they wanted my NEW account #.  I declined giving it to them, so they asked for my full Social Security #, which I declined to give them.  They said to call the # on the back of my Chase credit card, so I did.  The real Chase only asked for the last 4 digits of my account, and the last 4 digits of my SS #.  They had no record of Chase contacting me to "verify info".  So, beware!
