I agree with MOM.  Called Verizon and they called the 1888 # to confirm that it is a VM number.  Then I researched it.  In the past it was a number for a scam.  Do not call the number and do not give out any info.  Verizon's relays that if Verizon has any case against anyone they will send out a letter.  Verizon does not call individuals unless the customer calls them first.

Received the call from 8882346786 with request to send missed monthly bill for toyota 2013 loan.
I don't have toyota's loan, so female who called, asked for address and then SS number which made me suspicious.
I haven't provided SS number but then I tried to call back, system asked me for the code, and I couldn't contact them.
I also couldn't find out who owns this number (verizon customer service refused to provide legitimacy of it, and 411 also wasn't very helpful)

Calls and leaves a message that my daughter has a pending court case against her, that's against the law to do. They are scam!!!

The number is for Verizon FIOS Voice Mail, and when converted to letters is: 888-2FIOSVM.  So if you have Verizon FIOS voice mail (VM) it is supposed to be easier to remember.

I keep getting calls from this number with a message about a message for somebody else with a different name.  The message says it's from Verizon, but I don't have Verizon service and am not the person they're calling. How can I get it to stop?

This is a number used when you set your voicemail to call screening.   Verizon voicemail will call you so you can hear your caller leaving their message at the same time as their leaving it.

This # is becoming more $ more a nuisance.  Calls on cell 3-4 times per day & now has started on landline.  Can't seem to block it!

The telephone number is someone with a Verizon Landline Phone forwarding a Voicemail message to a Verizon Cell Phone.  I forwarded 2 phone calls from our Home Phone and this was the telephone number that appeared on my wife's cell phone. Her cell phone was called 3 consecutive times using this Verizon Call Forwarding Service.

I answered the call from the number 888-234-6786.  My telephone screen identified the number as a "Toll Free..." number.  The person on the line was my friend.  She has no idea how or why her call to me registered on my cell phone with the number 888-234-6786.  There were no calls to my telephone for 9 hours prior to her call to me.  She did not call the number or receive a call from the number before calling me.

888-234-6786...555-5551212... These two numbers call me once an hour EVERY hour beginning at 7:30 am EVERYDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!  How do we make it stop?This has been going on for weeks. Will they neget tired of calling and not being answered?????H E L P !!!!!

Thanks for the sharing by other folks.  I guess I should consider myself pretty fortunate, after reading the posts and the numbers of calls received by others--including to non-Verizon customers!  However, a couple weeks ago I got two calls on the same day from 888-234-6786 to my cell phone.  I didn't recognize the # so didn't answer.  (No message was left.)  When I later returned the call to that number, the recorded message said "If you have a mailbox on this system and would like to access it now, enter your 10-digit phone number."  I entered my cell # first, but was told the system did not recognize that number; & ditto for my home #.  Interestingly, we have Verizon phone, Internet and wireless service but chose to disable the voice mailbox for Verizon since we have a separate answering system.  So, I have no clue why--even though we're Verizon customers--we'd get these calls from them.  Plus, their system didn't recognize either of the Verizon #s anyway!  (By the way, all our phones have been on the Do Not Call Registry for several years; and we still get some telemarketing calls, all of which we try to report directly at the website where we signed up for DNC.  There's a simple form to complete.  Also, if someone's being obnoxious with repeated calls, sometimes I decide to answer, inform them we're on the DNC Registry, & tell them we're reporting them, etc.  (We've gotten rid of a couple companies that way.)

you are right but it's a call waiting call. I get it when I'm on the phone and another call is coming through, it leaves a essage on the Verizon message system for you

You do realize that Verizon is breaking the law? You don't have a business relation with them, they can't call. Call them & get the address of their legal department. Send them a certified letter, US Mail, with return. Then keep track of the calls & don't forget to tell them you'll see them in court if they keep calling.

I call Verizon once a month since LAST December to please stop calling me. I DO NOT HAVE VERIZON SERVICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They assure me that the calls will stop. Well, it's been a year, and they still Call me 5 or 6 times a day. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAKE IT STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Called twice last night... ignored the first one, answered the second. Automated message from some clown group called American Patriots soliciting money for Mitt Romney,TWO WEEKS after the election. These "patriots" are an embarassment to intelligent people

No voice message from caller, just background noise that sounds like copying machines or something similar.

I have verizon Fios, and I have verizonwireless. I recieved a message from a family member on my home phone. I wanted to forward it to my cell, so I did. Now my cell is getting the calls from 888.234.6786 trying to deliver the message for me. But when I answer I just get nothing silence and then a hang up.
When I do not answer it,hiping that it will deliver the message I forwarded from home to cell, well it does not complete the delivery. Unfortunately it keeps trying. For me this is what is happening. And for many of you , perhaps friends,family, or work relation voicemails are trying to be forwared to your phones and Verizon is unable to complete the delivery.
I dont think its a hacker?? LOL, just bad phone service.

Sorry I don't know how to retract or erase this negative message I left about Ron Ferrara. I got him mixed up with another person with a similar name, when I Googled his name I found the street adress and business name Power House Reality, but I had mis-spelled the name and it should not have been Ronald Ferrara, as far as I know he is a good guy just a victim of my anger and misspelling and jumping to a wrong conclusion. please disregard the original message

It was annoying to get calls from 888-234-6786 every 15 mins between 6:40 and 7:40 PM. Phone rings, but no response at the other end.
