After reading a bit more about this issue, this may very well just be a VOIP scam.  I didn't talk to anyone nor did they leave a message.  After reading a few different sites it looks like these people may be located in India and try calling  to collect on a non-existent debt with threatening messages. With VOIP they can assign themselves any phone number they want, using that of real law firms so when you search for the number it comes back to a real firm.  I can't imagine that this firm would be trying to call me so late, but you never know.  I keep track of my credit report(s) and have no outstanding debt, so whoever is calling is making everything up.  The name on the caller ID didn't match that of the company this number is registered to.

Noticed a missed called on my work phone, looked up the number and saw some law firm.  Then looked up the name and this is the first hit that showed up in the search.  Looks like Barbara Joy Hill took some time off from sending out her shotgun blast of calls.  No idea how she got my phone number but it looks like she is back at it again.

I got a call from Christina Walker on friday saying there is a lawsuit against my EX roommate's mother. How in all that is holy did she get her name! I called my local sheriffs office and they said call back in the AM. I called back b****  Christina Walker and said, "I googled you and your number, I know what your up to. If you call me again, I will file a lawsuit against you for fraud and harassment." EAT THAT!

My Mom received 2 phones call from Christina Walker recently. I called the number back today and talked to her. Of course it was about some magazine service(National Readers Corp.) She was talking about I owed like $1,139.41 but they would settle for $239.54. I am currently out of work and told her that, I told her that  had an attorney and that he would call her, she wanted his name but I didn't give it, I told her that I had made an appointment to see one, but not actually had one yet. She said that they could take 2 payments. I still told her I didn't have it.  Anyway she didn't ask for any personal info, wouldn't give it anyway, asked if my family would help, told her no. She was nice and didn't yell or anything but  I believe this to be a scam, I have not ordered magazines in 6 years or so, I did get them but paid it off years ago. I've never received anything from them(NRC) or any collection agency and now all of a sudden this. I will be contacting an attorney soon to deal with this. I'm not paying out money I don't have and no one else should either.

My mother received a phone call today from a Christina Longer stating that she was attempting to avoid a summons for violating a contract.  She told my mother to have me call her as soon as possible at 1-888-243-6569.  She provided my mother with a docket number and everything.

I am glad that I have enough legal knowledge to know that this was bull***t from the beginning.  First off, why would a person call my mother to acquire information about me?  If I am to be the "defendant" in the so called "criminal case" that they are filing against me, why wouldn't I have been contacted by the County Constable's office??  Anyway, this is a scam and should be avoided at all costs.  If you have to make contact with them again, let them know that you will be filing a counter-suit.  This will get them to hang up on you right away.  Happy reverse-harrassing!!!

More research.... This "Christina Walker" who calls from the "collection agency" is not a Judge, not an atty, not a policeman.  She should present all in "writing", not over the phone. And she needs to learn that you cannot leave private information on other people's message machines (and we saved it) because she violates your rights. Record everything with this lady. Then everyone should take action against her and put a stop to her.

This lady ( I called and spoke with law firm and they researched her) She is calling herself "Christina Walker", she yells and screams and then calls you hostile and will not allow you to finish a sentence. She pays the 10.00 fee to do a search on you to find out people you are related to and then  calls them and tells them "I am gathering information to put together a lawsuit against ------" and then gives a case number and this is not legal in the first place.  Then trying to talk to this person - she is rude, arrogant. I was told this number is a "SCAM". Do not reply unless they send you something in "writing". I would just hang up!!!!

My son received two calls from Christina Walker at this number.  It was a wrong number; Ms. Walker was seeking someone with a name that was not my son's (probably the person who owned the number before he did).  I did call her back to report the wrong number and she assured me that his number would be taken off the file.  I asked and she did concede that it was a debt collection call.

Got a call concerning my son last week.  Not the first one, either. The caller says "her" name is Christine, but she sounds more masculine at first. Obviously a smoker.  I usually only hear these calls from my answering machine as I , like many, refuse to answer calls with "UNAVAILABLE" as a Caller ID.

Also, using this same phone number and "story" is a man named John Davis.  He has called me twice now.  I am glad I thought to google the phone number before I dialed him back.  The number came up as unknown on my cell, but he left me a very rude voicemail and urged me to call him back ASAP.  Yeah right!

I spoke with a woman, Christina Walker, from this 1-888 number, and not only did she prevent me from going through court and litigation, she also was the most courteous and helpful person I have spoken with in a long time. THIS ISN'T A SCAM! She reminded me I did agree with a ridiculous contract for magazines that lasted for 60 months. Ms. Walker was the legit one, this magazine company; however, is the scam!!!! And people get it together ok....you agreed to a contract, and as ridiculous as it is, a contract is a legal document. This is how this magazine company is still in business...just admit to yourself that you overpaid for some magazines and pay the damn settlement. Get on with your lives!!! And trust me, these ppl will provide you with any information you need, and thank god for Ms. Walker because it's one less bill I have to worry about, considering the infinite bills I still have to pay for.

I am an attorney representing someone against this scam company Editors Readers Service.  First of all, ask them directly if they work for ERS or a third party debt collector.  Tell them you are recording this conversation and that they should "answer wisely".  They are violating FDCPA laws by not disclosing that their call is from a debt collector.

They say you signed a legally binding contract but this is bull b/c the contract is voided when you do not receive magazines.  Please report them to the Federal Trade Commission, your state Attorney General's Office, and local authorities.

Good luck and tell them to go screw!

Just got a phone call where I work with someone by the name of "Christina Walker" calling.  She gave me a case number and everything. I'm glad these posts are out here for knowing that there is nothing legitimate about the claims.  It's nothing but a solicitation for getting money.  Do not send any!

I've received these same calls and actually just got out of a court battle with Christina Walker. Unfortunatly for me, I learned the hard way about pushing her company around. She was very professional with me and presented all the evidence I asked for but I was still skeptical after reading notes on this site when she first called. I got my attorney involved and he told me to accept the settlement and pay it in full. I kept fighting and now I have a judgement on my credit report over some stupid magazines!!!! I shouldn't have believed what I read on here.

I recieved one of thesse calls from this number, but a different womens name and was left a voice message to call them back and use a case number regarding a young man that is the step son of one of my children. I had called back and left my message, not knowing this was a scam. The next day she called again and wanted to know how I knew this young man ? I told her how and she didn't even have his name correct. I wasn't even sure that it was the same young man even though the names came close to being the same.I didn't correct her, but told her he was a grown man and I never saw him and didn't know where to contact him.  She threatened me that he would be serveed a summons if I didn't get him to contact them immediatly . I asked her what the summons was for and she said she couldn't reveal private information because of privacy laws, yet she was calling me wanting private information and I am no where  close to this boy and have no idea what he is about!  He was an adult when my daughetr married his father, but they some how got my name and phone number and were digging me for private information.

I no longer have the contact number and name since I threw it away last week before I was aware that this was a prevelant scam.

I told her again that I didn't know where he was and couldn't reach him. I found out later through a call she made to my daughter ( have no idea how she found her either ) that she didn't even have my name correct . So I wonder where they get all of thier " tid bits " of information and start calling people that aren't even involved in other people's lives asking for private information about them etc.

I didn't realize until my daughter sent me this blog that this was going on and perhaps I also shoud report it since my name and phone number was also being invaded !

We are receiving phone calls from a Christina Walker looking for someone with a name close to a family member. But Ms. Walker can't give me a full legal name. She is also giving me names of associated names which again are close but not legal names.

This woman is calling my mother too, by the way has a similar name but not the correct name as one of her associated names.
This woman is giving me an case number and and says it is regarding a court summons.

Now this woman is not looking for me, but for a family member with a very close name as one.

Where the heck are they getting their info? I've done intellius searches my self and know that associated names are not accurate.

When I kept asking her where she was getting her in accurate info  she proceeded to sort of threaten me with filing a fraud case. Lol, like I'd done anything wrong.
