I just got home from being in a Hospt and nursing home for 3 months I live alone and pay my bills

I received a call from this number and they told me that they were collecting a debt from Deaconess hospital. I always pay bills on time, and I had never seen a bill from Deaconess at all. So naturally I thought it might be a scammer trying to get my card information over the phone. After I ended my call with the guy, I immediately called my doctor's office at Deaconess Woman's Hospital (which is the only reason I go to Deaconess) and told them about the call and asked them if I owed them any money.  They said that I did not owe them anything and to not worry about the call...well a week later I got a letter from the collection associates inc. telling me again that I owe money to Deaconess.  I'm very confused and don't know what to do...any thoughts or suggestions? (please be nice, I'm young and have never had any issues like this before)

you send them a cease and desist letter and they have to stop!

I am so sick of these calls. We always pay our bills. This company needs to stop calling my number.

Following thru the thread - yes debts ARE sold.  My daughter hsaworked in the banking industry for over 15 years and when one bank or collection agency gives up, the debt is sold to another for pennies on the dollar.  It's like shooting craps 9 sometimes you win, sometimes you loose.  Got another call from this same # last evening - the debt it that of my 23+ years ex-wife.  The agencies use the Lexus-Nexus programming to cross-reference names & people using public information.  Look yourself up online some day, and see all about yourself good or in error.

I am grown up and I pay my bills.  These people keep calling my office anyway.  I know they get my office voicemail, so they should know this is not the right number.  However, they use robo-calling devices that can't tell when a wrong number is reached.  These devices should be illegal.  If you want to call and collect on something, a real person should be doing the calling, that way when a wrong number is reached, it can be removed the list.  I believe this is the complaint that most people have.  Those who owe a real debt should pay it, but those of us who don't should not be harassed because the collection company has a wrong number.

FYI . . . I do owe a hospital bill.  But I am by NO MEANS a lowlife.  This was one MRI that cost me over $5,000 (that resulted in them telling my I would have diarrhea in a couple of days, and evertthing would be ok).  I'm sorry that I don't have an exra $5,000 laying around or that I cannot pay them as fast as they would like me to . . .

I just got a phone call from this number, said i owed $5k from a loan, I have never taken a loan out, I had to end up calling 202-656-0317 (washington dc.) said they are taking me to court over it. They said something about a bank account, I dont own a bank account, never have taken out a loan either. ID thieft maybe?

They are a collection agency. They've always been horribly rude, refuse to send an itemized bill, and refused the Payment we did offer every month and said that if we didnt pay at least $150 a month they wouldn't accept it. For our income that's unrealistic and again they will not accept the amount we tried to offer to pay.

If they follow the law, 15 USC 1601 (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act), then the collectors are not scum.  However, if they use the threats, foul language and the other illegal activities reported in the many threads here they are scum.  In addition, the FTC has warnings about fraudulent debt collectors and is warning consumers about them and has even taken action against some of them.  If the first thing out of their mouths is arrest or process service and they will "stop" the action if you pay today and also refuse to 1) give their actual first and last name; 2) the name, mailing address and phone number of the company; 3) do not state this is an attempt to collect a debt; and 4) refuse to provide a validation notice via US Mail they are in violation of 15 USC 1601 and are scammers and scum.

I find it hilarious that everyone who doesn't bother paying their bills (after they've already received goods or services from a business) somehow thinks that the people trying to collect the money are the 'low life scumbags' - should it be the other way around?

i have received multiple voice messages on my home phone from persons stating they were calling from Quicken Loans. They all leave this number for callback. I notified Quicken and they are investigating.
If they are a legitimate collection agency, I do not have any outstanding bills that require collection and should not be harrassed by them. I will report to better Business Bureau and any telecommunications agency

..this wont stop the calling..but don horan, CEO of CAI and his wife were killed when he crashed in the fog this week while trying to land his new plane after vacationing in florida. he was 46. they  talk about what a great 'christian' he was, but the only people that get sent over to collections are people with lousy insurance or none at all...half the bankruptcies in america are due to medical bills. mr horan lived a comfortable life..unlike the people his callers harrassed..

I agree with Zeta. I have had two heart attacks, 5 heart caths ,3 stents and breast biopsy in 2.5 yrs. Lots of meds which are not cheap. I hate owing these bills but do try to pay what I can. I am just getting back to work full time and it is really rough. Not everyone is a deadbeat or low life. Sometimes life throws you curves and you just can't get any where. I do have insurance and even with them paying almost 500,000 to the hospitals and doctors I still owe almost 50,000.Maybe that does not seem like a lot to some of you on here but to this 57 year old it is devastating!!!.

When answered they said I was being recorded.  Told them I didn't want to be recorded and they said sorry we record everything.  I believe if I don't want to be recorded it is myconstitutional right.

Obviously you appear to be spokesperson or employee of this bottom feeding number.  Since you certainly
are a sophisticated educated person, did you see what web site you are posting on?  It is a phone number
look-up site.  The discussion on a website like this is "who is calling me".  The perfidious tactics used by some collectors "is" the problem.  The tactics are used to avoid identifying themselves according to law before the "victim" gets on the phone with them to be abused and intimidated.  A website like this is designed to identify who is calling, not judge people on whether they can pay their debts or not.

My 2 cent worth is Never Never pay a collection agency.  If you owe money and you finally can afford to pay
go directly to the creditor and pay, get rid of the middle man.  Eventually the calls will stop when no money is getting paid directly to them.  If you are getting called and it is a wrong number, tell them to stop, if they do not, sue them for everything the law will allow as well as attorney fees.

There are some decent agency's that are respectful and don't use deception and tactics to collect.  They
have actual skill and respect. Hiding behind autodialers and not leaving messages says alot about a company.

Just received a call from this company.  A Mr. Morris asked for someone with a similar name to someone who lives with me.  I confirmed the name then he started saying the person owes money and they are going to take legal action.  This was before I was even able to ask clarifying questions.  I started to ask clarifying questions then he gave me an old address to confirm the person and I confirmed never living there.  Then I said I didn't appreciate being threatened with legal action.  He said he didn't need my smart remarks and hung up before I could even confirm a phone number or to tell him to stop calling.

This number calls twice a day every day.

People who like to tell other people that they don't know what they are talking about is very irritating for those who do know what is going on and has the facts to back the facts up with. Seems like those who have debts are the ones causing the problems, the uproar and leaving posts bad mouthing those who are collecting the debts that they didn't pay in the first place!
