"Allied Interstate, a collection agency." We began receiving calls from these people a year ago when we first got our phone number...each time trying to reach "Edith Scattle". Before we could add the number to 'Call Blocking', the calls stopped. There were 2 calls, minutes apart, this morning...once again looking for "Edith Scattle." I answered the first time and disconnected; the second time a message was left. Judging from the dates on the posts here (they date back to 2007), these creeps have been around a while. If the purpose of this site is shut down scammers like this, why are they still in operation? For the record, I had never heard of "Edith Scattle" till these calls started coming; I wouldn't know her (if she even exists) if I tripped over her.

If this is a debt collector, they have no reason to call me. My credit is perfect. If they're trying to collect from someone with the same last name (very unlikely), how did they get my unlisted number?  They can't be trying to collect from someone who used to have my number- I've had this number more than 26 years. In other words, they're crooks. They just call & try to make you think you owe something in order to get your $.

I'm in the same sort of situation.  I told them I wasn't working at the time, or working really really part time can't pay what they want me to pay.  I did tell them I could maybe swing $50 a month and they weren't happy with that amount.  I have yet to answer my cell phone when they call.  I still don't work full time, and I don't make that much money.  Don't know for sure but I think they took some money out of my state taxes this year, and I wasn't getting that much back to start with.  If I had the money I would pay them, but all they want is there money.  They never leave a message on my phone either it's either dead air with sounds in the back ground or one maybe two hello's.

It's only going to get worse as the economy goes further down hill.  If people are un employed how can they pay their debts... You idiots.  Unless they happen to have a money tree growing in their back yard.  If it's between feeding your kids and keeping a roof over their heads versus paying say a10 year old credit card debt which do you think will be paid first.

I keep getting phone calls from 888-253-3108 on my office line claiming that they are trying to collect a debt but I don't have any debt in collections.

If your report is accurate, you have a very clear annoying and/or harassing call pattern as loosely defined by the FDCPA, which means you can sue for relief ... unless of course in your rush to block and ignore you've thrown away the Caller ID evidence and never made written notes.

This is just the sort of thing iQor/Allied Interstate has been punished for in the past couple of years by the FTC and the AG's of Oregon and Minnesota. When the abuses only continue apace, it's up to each of us to apply any pressure we can until a scofflaw collection agency either reforms or self-destructs.

My advice to JR also applies to you, and any "not me" case. It's in the comment appearing directly behind yours, lagging by only a couple of weeks. You "have told these people over and over again" only verbally to cease contact, which will never stick because you cannot prove your demand was made and legally the debt collector may go on assuming you are a liar and call again. Keep doing as you have done and the nuisance will continue another seven years.

If they can't leave me a message then stop calling my phone. These people will ring my phone while i'm at work in mettings a refuse to leave a message. STOP Calling If you can't leave a message!!!!

I also keep getting daily calls from this number but when I answer it always says  dial extension  bla blab when I do it hangs up. I blocked them but its annoying.

I keep getting these calls & their looking for Peggy Turner. I have told them before she DOES NOT live here at this address nor this phone number I had blocked this number before & then I just did unblock & I started getting these calls for Peggy Turner again early morning & I want it to STOP. I am on the NO Call list & will look for further actions if the calls DO NOT STOP! Thank you so much!

Do not know why they are calling, they do not leave a message called 18 times yesterday!

Obviously letter didn't work, received another automated call today.  Called them, told them I received a call from this number, person who answered didn't identify what company she worked for but said let's look up your number - didn't ask my name but assume they have Caller ID.  Asked for my X, told her he was not at this number, never lived at this address and don't know where he is, told them to remove this number and she said she would, like I believe that.

Received a call from Allied Interstate as well as letter which was addressed to my X-husband.  They are looking for my X  whom I've been divorced from since 2003.   Assume they did a skip trace/old credit etc. and also got my local phone number which is in my name only.   I hate the automated calls because I will not return calls like that.  Fired them off a letter advising them under the Fair Debt Collection Act they must stop call me or sending mail to my home address.  We will see.

These jerks keep calling our cell phone EVERY 10 MINUTES from sun up to sun down. I answered the first time they called, over 6 months ago, and finally put them on my block list.

Called looking for my brother-in-law, who hasn't lived here in over 10 years. I have told these people over and over again he doesn't live here, and given them his cell and work numbers.I tell them to stop calling, but they call constantly. I have even had to go to the postmaster to get them to stop sending mail here. it lasted about 3 years, and then the mail started again. This has been going on for over 7 years.

The is guy asking for this one person, I've told him there's nobody here by that name. He said I will remove the number from the list.

None of your personal problems matter to the debt collector and they have no bearing on your case either. You are still entitled to debt validation, a quiet phone, and humane treatment even in the very stubborn category of student loans.

Great job, JR. Your idea of protecting your new phone number is to give it away on a discussion forum which is crawled by Google and data harvesters. I'd talk to Admin about a redaction. What's more, you have this forum confused with a direct channel to the call source. Callers do not manage this site or this page. Every thread header on this site tells you as much.

The FCC has little oversight of debt collection, which is the domain of the FTC. However, you need to take your complaint straight to your offender rather than rely on complaint filing. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how and why to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.

I just got this number 510 684-4962. I am not the person you are looking for, Do not call me again.I am notifying the FCC that I am asking you to stop the harassing and fraudulent phone calls.

These scumbags called my house. Don't know who they were calling for, answer machine picked up and no one said anything. I looked up the number on Google and then came to this site. Love this site by the way, have found out all types of information about these random numbers. Now I know it is a debt collector, don't know if I have any Sallie Mae loans, but if they are educational loans then this might be them. Was in school but had to drop out due to a medical emergency. Did get a deferment, but I guess the limit is over and now they want their money, wanted me to pay over $300 per month, told them that I am not working and can not find any type of job and that this amount is too high. Don't look like I will be paying them back any time soon. Hate that they are calling my house and I will not answer the phone, those people break all sorts of rules. I only deal with them in writing, somehow they got my house phone number, I don't use this number because it is not my phone, I only use my cell phone. Unfortunately, you can not declare educational loans in bankruptcy, if I could I would. Have too much debt to really pay it off.

Must be Sallie Mae for me too then. The collectors are relentless. They called 3 hours ago at 9:03am then again 10 minutes ago. I don't know how they got my cell phone but it's really pissing me off. that's why I got the cell phone so that I could give the number to whomever I wanted and not worry about this crap. Where do they get you cell numbers? They called me four times yesterday!!

I was home when the call came in from 1-888-253-3108. No one responded when I said hello. Finally I heard a male yawn and when I said that I was sorry to wake him up, but he called me so what did he want, he angrily said good bye and hung up! I just knew it was a collection group since I keep getting them on my ex and his family!

i get a call almost everyday and when i answer it clicks and goes dead! Every time! And when i don't answer,it doesn't leave a message.So i called them and get a "that # isn't in service"message! the only reason i now know who it is, is because i looked it up on the internet and found myself here..i know who they are looking for cause i had a bunch of collections calling me when i first got this #. ive managed to let everyone know that this isn't her # except these unprofessional people.

Received a call a few weeks ago for person I did not know.   Foreign caller said he would remove my number within 24hrs.   I block the number but received another call from a different number.

  Contact your state AG, file a complaint, and mention that they are already under govt action.   The AG will be more likely to piggyback your complaint.

OMG... Sallie Mae..debt collectors.. they keep calling here too and I never received money from them, nor did I attend the school they are claiming that the money was sent too. I have repeatdly told and tried to explain this, but it falls on deaf ears.

Found an envelope between screen door/front door with a court summons and a letter from an Allied Interstate, said they were suing someone. Never heard of the person.
Called them, explained. The man was rude, unprofessional and actually asked for my bank account number. I hung up and blocked the number.
