my mom got some letter in the mail saying that she had wrote some bad checks to places that we have never been to and the letter say that if she did not call with in five days that she would be lock up. my mom has never has this happen to her so someone plz help :)

I just received a call as well from this number 18885883429 they left a message on our answering machine telling us to call 18882661667 regarding an important criminal matter and to do so by the end of the business day to resolve the matter. I attempted to call this 18882661667 and it led me to an automated voice message stating that this number had not yet been set up and that if I wished to get a number for a professional appearance I could do so by going to ringcentral.com They to gave me a docket number and I do believe this to be a scam seeing as it was left on my 77 year old grandfathers house phone and my grandfather has never taken a loan outside of his house back in 1989 and my husband and I have no outstanding loans ourselves. THIS IS A SCAM!!!!

Its true that bad checks are illegal, and you can be arrested.  Still this 888-266-1667 number is a scam.

Recieved a recorded call at general office number stating there is a person of interest at this # & to call his firm right away to get it resolved.  Its a business # & no info was left like name or company.....just to call back 888-266-1667 & reference doc# 10927-US.

I was contacted by this number. He did not leave his name. He cited a case number. Said I was a person of interest. He said he has to report if I cooperated. His so called case number was garbled. I think intentionally. Obviously he is a rootless debt collector. They have tried so many schemes in the past three years. In one instance I did pay one of these a***oles for an american express debt. But two months later american express claimed that the debt collector had no right to negotiate on their behalf. Bottom line, delete all messages from these blood sucking company and do not pay a dime.

This is a scam made by a debt collector. Its loans that have been taken out over the internet and not paid back as so they say...well dont give into them they will scare the hell out Of you its fraud people dont give in..its illegal to give info over the phone like that to anyone and pretend your an attorney. I was given a telephone number by Verizon in 2003.  The person who had this number before me obviously was a dead beat.  I have been harrassed for 8 years by debt collectors looking for Shante Thomas.  Yesterday I got a call from 1-888-266-1667.  The person said that their name was Joe Roma and he said he had all my personal information and had legal documents that he was unable to explain over the phone because of state laws.  I was told to call immediately.  I called the number and told the man that I was not the person he was looking for and that I have been harrassed for years just because I had the unfortunate luck to be given the phone number of someone who was not an honest person.  He then asked me my name and I told him and he said that now he has all the information he needs about me and that he is smarter than me and tht he could ruin my credit to the point that I would never even be able to buy a loaf of bread.  Then he said his real name is not Joe Roma and that it was a robot that called me and left the message (A lie!)  He said his name was James Johnson.

I had a call from this number but it wasnt for me !!! If they called you do not give your info just ask who are they looking for.

i keep getting a call with a recorded message from this number. a male says there are allegations against a person with my number, address and SS#. this call is BS, because this is a work cell number that is not at all connected to my address or SS#.  seems like a scam to me.

This company left a VERY intimidating message on my mom's answering machine and scared the crap out of me.  They rattled off a case number and told me that I am the respondent in a fraud case and that it is in the investigation stage while they are reviewing the charges.  The guy said his name was Mr. Shepherd but did not leave a company name.  What do I do about this!!????  First of all, is it legal to leave such a message on an answering machine?  Secondly, if they had a legitimate case wouldn't they serve a summons?  I mean, if they have a landline number they have an address to serve me at.  Is this legit or a scam?  I refuse to call them back, but will this stop or am I really in trouble for something?  Please advise.

These people have been calling my parents phone and my sisters house and who knows who else. All for the exact same thing a cash advance from 2007 which was paid in full in 2007. They also threaten that within 48 hours that authorities will be here to arrest me. I told them that I had looked them up and I know there are a SCAM, the "Attorney" told me that he is tired of hearing this S*** that its a scam he said get a good defense attorney and Good bye. This isn't the first SCAMMER that has called for the exact same thing. They said they will stop calling when I call them back. So far warning when one finally gives up another will try. I certainly agree with you.. But these are scams my household has been getting calls from this number and others. First it is Illegal to leave that sort of information on an answering machine or with another individual. I think it is unfortunate that people such as yourself do get screwed by people that knowingly write bad checks and due to scams like these aren't able to recover what is owed to you because people simply won't respond. But for those who do not have any such thing out there it is harrassement and we are not able to seem to do anything about it. If its not one company it's another place claiming they are gonna serve you at either your residence or your place of employment... And NEVER show up... and of course they won't cause nobody here has written a bad check... But good luck to you..

I received a call saying a case would be sent to local district because I had a payday loan from 2007. Said the bank I am with forwarded the case. I called my bank and was advised there was nothing in their fraud or collection department. Called Joseph Kolowski back and left a message my bank advised it did not exist. He then called and left a message saying I may have been confused it was another bank.

when you search the nys division of corperations that law firm dosnt exist and when i got a intellus report on the number there was no company listed with the number and it comes with a buffalo address not cheektowaga or depew. im contacting the FTC and  the FBI

I received several voice messages left on my answering machine at my office which I have saved. The jist makes it sound like some governmental official will prosecute me if I do not give them certain information. I called the number left and talked to two representatives that refused to give me the name of their company and were extremely rude. I would be glad to help get this form of debt collection tactic prosecuted by the FTC or other appropriate governmental agency. Oh, BTY, I was not even the person they were looking for!!

I received a call yesterday ftom my stepmom saying that these people called. I got extension number 104 with a name of Ms. Cain to taln to. They said I wrote a payday loan back in 2007, which I did along with a few other bad checks that were paid off. I had thought that this one was too. The lady told me that if I could get $693 in 24 hours that nothing would be filed and all charges be dropped. Of course being a single mom and coming from a family that doesn't have much money I couldn't. I was told to call her back by noon. I called three times since 11:30 and the lady has not answered the phone nor returned my call. What does a person do? I'm scared. I don't want to go to jail over something like this. I can only hope towait for one of these attorneys to call me back. And I do believe there is a statute over how long they have to file something to get their money from a bad check. This is a bit rediculus. Give a person one day to pay something and threaten them while they're at it.

I am getting harrassing calls from this number and when i try to call them back the answering options just loop and you cant get a person. I have never wrote a bad check in my life and they dont say a persons name only that some one that they have the ss number of someone who lives here. I am worried about id theft.

I have received numerous calls from brown nd scott, brown andrew and scott, acs and scott ... numerous different names. The first guy called my son, my mother (shes 81 yrs old) my employeer, an neighbors housephone(a number i have never known) a neighbor that i just say hi and bye to. They have harrassed everyone I know. They sound so believeable and really frighten you. I CALLED THE NUMBER MY FAMILY GAVE ME. 888-266-1667 / 888-588-3429 / 866-599-5783 / 615-222-2342 all who want you to leave a message. I called back the 866-599-5783 and got Anthony Cartell, who said it was from and online payday loan (something i have never done) back in 2007. He said it was for 450.00 and now its 840.00 , but you can settle out of court for 500.00, but you only have two hours to do so. I asked the name of the company he said ACS,  I asked were they were located, he said here in my town. I told him I never did such a thing , he said he could only talk to me if i wanted to resolve this matter out of court. I asked were to send a payment if I chose to do so, he said they only take credit or debit cards. I explained Iwasn't comfortable with either. He told me to go to my local walmart and buy a prepaid card and call him back , but I only had now, less than 2 hrs or a prossesor would be serving me papers to appear in court. The call ended , but they have called everyday since , leaving the same message , as if they never talked to me. How do you stop this? this is really borthering my family and especially my 81 yr old mother.

I have been getting waged garnished for almost a year now from this company and my professional business license was suspended for 3 years and and wish I had the opportunity to be able to pay this company back for what they agreed to accept as an out of court arrangement back in the day. You two can do with what you want to do but I would settle anything that they are calling me about only because now I am charged with theft and fraud and have to deal with this garnishment for alot more than if I only settled out of court with them. If you do not know a company that is calling you and do not feel they are legit, then you can go to http://www.dos.state.ny.us/corps/bus_entity_search.html  and search their Business Entity Name at any time. If they are listed as a company doing business then they are a true and real company. The company name for which you two are complaining about is Brown, Andrews, and Scott llc they are a large firm based out of NY and use an attorney network to be able to file suit upon you in any state. I would also check your local and state criminal check fraud laws and that is what you could face if found guilty in your state under penal code 609 for check fraud. Do as you two wish but you will lose in the long run and then have them say I told you so. Good luck. Before you complain on this site for anything about an agency I would consider who and what I owe then pay it back. Payday loans are no joke when taken to court upon. You two will eventually find out as I believe both of you are ignoring the debt and them. This is no longer collections and if they have your case then they will eventually get you to pay. If it is with them or in the courts hands either way you will have to eventually pay their debts. Do the right thing and do research but do not hesitate to make an arrangement with them because they will file for suit and then you have no choice but to pay and it will be at a much higher price. My daughter received multiple phone calls from  Joseph kozlowski, with Scott an brown law firm, saying that i was facing criminal charges for check fraud from a payday loan in 2006 that i never paid. They called my Mother, Sister and friends. I called them back and explained that i never received any letters from them and i had no money to pay at this this time, that was about 3 months ago. Well yesterday 2 men went to my daughters house with a warrant for my arrest, they left this number 888-266-1667 said for me to call that number and they would dispatch someone out to pick me up and take me to jail! I have never heard of such a thing and i have yet to call. Has this happened to anyone else? I have a young daughter and i am a single mom, i am scared!

Got a 'possible' recorded message from a male voice saying that he has business with someone who's SSN is listed at being at address. Further stated that he is 'mandated to at least attempt to contact regarding an out-of-court resolution.' The male left  his name - Anthony Cociano (not sure of spelling, since he did not spell out last name).
Still have no clue why this call was made nor why the voicemail was left as we remain clueless.
