I was contacted by Merchant Referral Services in October of 2009 by phone. It was first presented to me that this company represented Visa and Mastercard. I was told that they were looking for someone to cover the northern ‘half’ of Michigan and that if I signed up I would be given that territory exclusively.

I was told that the registration fee for me to do this would be approximately $500.00. I signed up with the company on October 26th, 2009. as an affiliate. There was also an additional ongoing fee of $20.00 monthly taken directly from my checking account.

In my home office, I was unable to get into the companies’ ‘back office’, the website/address where I could check on referrals I had submitted to the company. When I called the company, no one answered. I thought the problem was my home office computer, but tried from other computers/internet connections and still was unable to reach the companies’ ‘back office’ to check on referrals.

When I spoke to a company representative about referrals I had submitted, I was told that I had faxed the form to the company with ‘errors’ and would not receive credit/payment for the referral.

When I spoke to different representatives from Merchant Referral Solutions about the problems I was having with access to the company’s’ ‘back office’, and not being able to track referrals, I was told something completely different by each new person I spoke to.

I feel I was lied to about who/what Merchant Referral Solutions really is/was. I know I was mislead about their relationship with major credit card companies and how the process actually works if you do sign up as an affiliate with them.

I did speak to someone from Merchant Referral Solutions about a specific business that I turned in as a referral/lead that had later been contacted by someone else for their business. I asked this man if Merchant Referral Solutions had a sister company that referrals were submitted to. I believed my referral was sold or given away to someone else by Merchant Referral Solutions.

I have been unable to reach a solution with this company. I would like a full refund of my initial affiliate fee of $495.00, as well as the $20.00 monthly fee being taken from my checking account since October of 2009.

I take care of my husband, Bob, a disabled veteran, full time and was hoping this company would be a solution to financial struggles we’ve already had, not something else we would have to worry about.

This is Merchant Referral Solutions, who used to go by the name Bankcard Empire.  They are scammers and thieves.  On the BBB website, Bankcard Empire has over 250 complaints and was given a "cease and desist" order by the state of Illinois for scamming people.  Now they have just changed their name and are stealing from people again.  If these people call you, don't even give them the time of day.

A person called me stating that they had information that I was interested in a home based business. I asked them for their website and to send me some information.  They stated they were Merchant Referral Solutions. Would not give me a phone number.

I just got off the phone with a rude, rude individual, who told me that this is not a debt collection agency, but a home based business company.  I asked for their address, she would not give it to me.  She said the company name is
Merchant Referral Solutions, although they answer the phone with the name Empire.  I signed up for Google at home business solutions and have been called by 5 different companies, and charged $70 for something I did not authorize.  She said if I wanted to stop their calls, I would have to go to the website or give her the information.  There's NO WAY I'm giving her anything.  She hung up on me.  Very rude.

Just spent 62 minutes on the phone with "high pressure Victoria". Ended up trying to be-little me that I did not have $149 towards the $251.95 package. (balance would come out of my 1st commission check) This Christian living man could not convince her that I was at the lowest point in my life financially at the age of 61. Told her I was interested and would call her back when some comp checks came in a few weeks. She said she did not believe I would call back. Told her if I did she had to pay 1/2 of the $499.95 package. She said she had promo money and would do it.  Well I have pent the last 2 hours in scam forums and things are not looking well for this company. She may be right that I will not call back after everything I am reading.

I signed up with Merchant referral solutions 3 months ago. They live up to their end of the bargain. These people are lazy and not actually going out there and doing the work. They are expecting the money to be handed to them. Ive gotten only 3 businesses signed up and i got what they promised me. I got my 500 dollars for each terminal and i get a residual check every month from them.  Im not making millions of dollars. Thats not what they promised me. What they told me i got. Don't expect anything handed to you. You get what you work for. People are posting that these sites are scams because they can't make money. Not because the program is a scam, but because they don't have the patience  to stick with it. Its sad that companies like this are trying to share the wealth and people are bringing them down because they can't make it work. If you opened up a physical business and it didn't make money would you call it a scam? DONT THINK SO.

Chris, would you care to share the names of the three companies who (allegedly) signed up with MRS?  No, I didn't think so.  Because if they were to reveal the names of any businesses who have been scammed by MRS, then people could call them and find out how dissatisfied they are with MRS's "services."  It's a bad deal for both the merchant and the poor suckers scammed into selling to the merchants.  Chris, if you really are an MRS affiliate, please share with us your affiliate number and contact info.  Yeah, I thought not.

Yes, Chris, do indeed share with us the actual addresses of "Willows Antiques" and the others.  How convenient that you didn't provide these in the first place.  And the reason they haven't canceled (presuming they signed up with MRS in the first place?) is because there are obscenely expensive PENALTIES for trying to get out of their rip-off contracts!

I am an affiliate with Merchant Referral Solutions in Bay City, Michigan. My experience with them has been very positive. I've been a business owner with my husband for over 25 years now, and like most things, you get what you put into it. I was contacted by outside contractors to sell me 'add-ons', but just said no. I am currently working with fellow small business owners locally who are interested in saving money on credit card transactions and like the cash advance feature.

Merchant Referral Services never mentions their name in their attempt to pull you in. They claim to work FOR, not with, but FOR VISA & Mastercard. They will tell you that the fee you are paying is for a "license" to be a merchant representative and that the company, "Superior Enterprise Solutions" which will do your "background check" is a government agency. Both these companies share the same address and according to the BBB of Arizona, MRS used to be Bankcard Empire. My guess is that they get your credit card number to set up the web site account for 19.95 then start charging other things, I'm not taking chances and cancelled the card. That account is set up through MyCatalog and I'm still looking into their connection with this scam. Don't anticipate getting any refunds. When you speak with the third party to confirm, and they will tell you they "know nothing", they tell you JPK is the company your credit card will be charged but it will show up as SUPERIOR888-791-6243 888-7916243 AZ and the web account is charged to MRS. 1-888-232-2141 888-2322141 AZ. Try calling any of those numbers and you will have to leave a name and number for them to call back, or be on hold forever, don't hold your breath. TG I'm only out $314.95! If anyone is doing a class action suite, please count me in! I'm chalking this up to having a stupid moment and going on.

Looks like it's a "Visa/MasterCard" merchant representative...  Sounds like a scheme...  But not sure.  They have the operator play back a message...  It's about payment charge machines, for example for stores, etc.  They are trying to get you to set up credit card charging machines, so you can get money from every machine installed.

Don't know how I feel about this one yet.

I've received phone calls to join a class action suit (Of course for a cost) I looked up the .com and it was something about sex.  What is this world coming to?  I wanted to start a home business too, just like you.  I got a brand new credit card and maxed it out on this" plan".  What a cruel and wicked thing for them to do to a grandma!

I too, am a victim of this scam.  I wanted to join a class action against them, but I believe these "suits" are a scam too.  I looked up the .com address they gave me and it's a porn site!  No thanks!! Didn't open it, but the name sure gave it away.

What are you trying to do?  I'm going to go to my attorney general from my state and see what they can do.

Hey Jane!
I hope you are still reading your replies.  I am sickened by losing $5,000 to this scam.  I'm ticked that there's people out there that are saying it's a good business---HA.  And what about the 90+ year old man who was taken who's story was on the news?    Now there's a "new scam".  It's a company stating that MRS went out of business and they are getting all the people they can to join a class action suit against them.  (Of course, this will cost you money too).  The guy gave me his .com site, went there and it's a porn site!! (didn't open it, but the name is obvious). Come on creeps!

EVERYONE OUT THERE.....BE CAREFUL!!  THE BAD GUYS ARE REALLY TRYING HARD TO GET US.
