these people have now contacted my parents (just prior to my father undergoing surgery for cancer), and a good friend (who has been undergoing chemo and radiation for cancer treatment) implying some sort of charges filed with the court by giving them a case number and telling them they are "process servers" with ccr & associates.  Both phone calls have been made to cell phones with no caller id information.  The "process servers" stated the matter was urgent and address information must be verified so the papers could be served to me.  My parents are not as educated about scams such as these and it sounds like they gave a little more information than they should (my address), but my friend did not fall victim to the misleading statements and retrieved a phone number from them that gives me the opportunity to call back and tell these folks exactly what I will be doing after reading the posts here.

Got the same call from the Lauren chick who told me to call 855-676-2520.  I answered once last Thursday.  Since then, every morning at 8:22am EST, she leaves the same message saying that she will file charges on Monday (today).  She never sent me anything.  She never confirmed the payday loan.  She never validated the debt.  So if there is a case, I will use the Texas Statute of Limitations defense since the debt is over 4 years old.  I actually remember paying this off in 2008 when another agency threatened jail time by treating the loan as a "hot check".  I was just 28 and new to Texas and unaware of the laws.

As for the people making insults, I can't speak for everyone here, but I want to pay my bills.  I have spent the last 3-4 years making timely payments and raising my credit score.  What I will not submit to is some bloodsucking collection agency making threats and using scare tactics, when they could just be respectful and honest and not attempt to make me feel sub-human because I fell on hard times 5 years ago.  Send me the documentation, allow me to set up payment, and be done with it.

I'm getting some strange calls.   My phone never rings; I just get a message about a vm left.  I suspect they are using Slydial.   Anyway, this Lauren person said she was coming out to my house to have me sign some legal documents to sue me.  I have no idea what this is about.  But you can tell when they call they are reading from a script.   I get one of these calls every day.   So if they are going to my house today, then good luck.   They have to find my house, get through a pipe fence with 2 big danes, and then they'll find out I'm not even home.....I'm at work!   LOL   The number she leaves is 855-676-2520.   Has anybody else gotten a call like this?

I suspect this is a new tactic from CCR & Associates.   They started calling me about 3 wks ago.  Then for a week, I heard nothing.  Then this lawsuit crap started.  I guess during that week they were in training for their new script.

I'm not losing any sleep over this new tactic from CCR & Associates.  They don't have the back bone to mail anything or even let the phone ring to confront me.  Instead they go straight to my vm.  BLOOD SUCKING COWARDS!!!

I'm a private investigator in Missouri and I've been trying to bring these people to justice for several months. I gave them all fake information and they still wanted a payment. FRAUD! Don't give them any of your information! They're criminals. Lookup the Dateline special about them. And btw, CCR associates is a land surveying company. Who know who these people really are.

I have the poop scared out of me and still trying to figure out if I'm going to jail or what. But, this guy said he's a lawyer for 17 years. What scum he must be then, if he took out a loan, on a lawyers' salary and can't even pay it back until it goes to collections. Whatever. Liar.

They Called me today and left a message and said that it had to do with my social security number.

Called and said it was an urgent call in regards to a criminal complaint filed this morning. This is a collection agency misrepresenting themselves.

IF you got calls from them THEN YOU OWE A PAY DAY LOAN. Why do you owe a pay day loan?.... because you have burned all your other creditors and now you have burned your ONLY other source to obtain money.  Deal with it ...and if you can not...do not avoid it call and handle it. Set up payments that work for you.  Coming on here and reading advice from deadbeats is like taking financial advice from a homeless guy on the street. WAKE UP!

Someone told me they saw a segment on dateline about similar people. Also, depending on where you are, check the statute of limitations. These people and payday loans are a harrassment. You can also get an attorney to go after them.

I recieved a phone call from a private number saying that there is a legal action placed on my social security number and she said she needed to verify information and she gave me a number for CCR and when I called CCR I got a voicemail and when I wanted to leave a mesaage they told me the mailbox was filled and I couldn't leave a message. I keep caling back and it sends me to a voicemail I never talk to anyone...don't know what I should do....it sounds like a scam...

Fake name or not, why is it funny to get away from not paying your bills.  Sounds like your the scum.

well as for them stealing your cell minutes tell them it is a cell number once they know that they are not suposed to call you on it because it is considered causing you to inccur debt in the practice of collecting a debt. as for them calling you over and over everytime they lose the info you give them and it is not your debt begin logging and recording the calls (note some states require both parties to be ware that a conversation is being recorded). every violation of the fdcpa is a 1000 dollar fine that goes to the victim i.e. you. some collection agencies have managed to rack up enough fines in oklahoma that a debtor paid off what he owed with the fines.

I continue to receive calls from a precious Singleton aka shereda moss, claiming that I owe a debt but after numerous request I have yet to receive any paperwork. I have had an eerie feeling since the first day she called. If it is legit fine I have no problem paying, but not to some Joe blow, as stated before I have not received anything. What should I do? BTW I know her name is shereda because I called back and asked for shereda, what legit business uses fake names.

Someday, they will p****off the wrong person at the wrong time and it will be another tragic incudent in the workplace. For the presumptous idiot who thinks collectors only come after people who dont pay their bills, who the hell are you to judge anybody? I hope you never lose your job or ability to pay your bills.

These people have really scared the hell out of me.  They call my mother several times a day and she gave me the number to call which is 1-866-854-6422, i talked to adam which is so dam rude and never curse but he totally got blasted.  Long story short I put a block on my account and now they are calling from blocked and unknown numbers. My husband says there are a scam. I have dealt with adam and some guy name mike and now a female.

a Katie Williams from CCR or CCF & Associates called my parents, stating a case was bring filed against me in regards to some debt....when did attorneys start calling? If a Lawsuit is gonna be filed, they have to give you WRITTEN NOTICE...no phone calls....its a debit collector, if you think you owe the debit they need to send it writting, if no matter they need to send it registered mail!!!

I have recieved a message on my phone saying that i owe a debt and their a legal company, but i don't know where they got my number from. I think personally it's a scam. I recieved a call approximately 2 weeks ago from a (616) number and come to find out it was a scam. This time the number was 1(888) 872-7992 saying their from ccr&associates. That's all a bunch of ....... these4 people need something real to do or either the law needs to get on their a..!

Called and left me a message regarding some one that I know.  Not personally but I know of him because he is a felon.  Anyway, this "CCR and Associates"  gave me a call back number 888-872-7992 which went to a message.  Called back a few times to see what was up but never could get anyone to answer,  Imagine that!

I understand being mad at this company about taking the 75$ out of your account but I dont get how you can be upset with them for collecting on something that was sold to them as unpaid. The cash store took your money and sold your debt to collection agency's. Dont you think that you should be mad at them for that?

My mother-in-law got a call from this company but would not give out our home number, but instead called us with their number. I returned the call to them, and they stated I had a Cash Store payday loan that the check had been returned on which needed to be taken care of. Unfortunately I gave them our bank card number for the set up payment arrangement. Needless to say I was curious as to how a loan taken out 6 years ago on an old bank account wouldn't have gone before the courts directly from The Cash Store for that length of time--considering it's illegal to pass a worthless check in every state of the union. I contacted the old Cash Store after setting up the arrangements to pay this loan off in full within 2 months. Lo and behold when I contacted the original debtor, they stated to me that only one of my checks had ever come back to them, and I went in and paid in cash two weeks later the loan in full as well as the late fees. I called this company back and told them that I verified with the original debtor that it was listed in error and to cancel the arrangements as I owed no money. They said they would, and today I look at our bank account statement and they just illegally debited $75 from our account. I am going to file a class action suit against this fraudulent company and report them to the BBB, Consumer Fraud department, IC3, and the Attorney general in Oregon. If you would like to join in this class action suit please reply to me with the name(s) of people you spoke with, your name and contact info so I can get you added to the lawsuit. I will post the case# as soon as I get one from the Atty Generals office here along with their contact info if you don't want to give me your name and contact info (I don't know exactly how the class action suits work for which way is easier.). I will post an update as soon as I can regarding this, and I can see from the 4 pages of replies here that action needs to be taken against these comapnies. I was being responsible, and if the debt had been valid I would have had no problem making payment arrangements to pay for my real debt. Too bad it turned out I should have trusted my gut when they called and I didn't. $75 is a small price to pay to bring down an unethical debt collection agency and those associated with it!

Could you please tell me the status of your problems with these people?  Apparently my next door neighbor gave these creeps my cell phone number as a contact number for her. They are stating that they have multiple counts of check fraud against my husband (my cell phone is in his name.)  I refused to give them any information so they are stating they have no choice but to proceed with charges.
