I don't know which location you went to, but they are not all like this. My puppies are enrolled in the puppy program and the Sunnyvale location is awesome. We are literally in and out within 15 minutes when I bring my pups to get checked out and everyone is super nice there. The only time they called me was when my card wouldn't go through because I forgot to call them with a new number. Other than that, they have been wonderful.

They are relentless. They continue to call and call and call. No matter what you tell them. They actually started calling and claiming I had appointments just to get me to call back AGAIN to discuss renewing my plan. They call multiple times a week. It's getting to the point I'm going to change my number. Ridiculous!

I had the same sort of situation.  They told me that I could cancel at any time, however, they did not tell me that IF I cancelled, I'd be responsible for paying the full price for all the treatments/preventatives given to my dog.  I was unable to keep the dog and let them know that 3 days after taking him in there, they informed me then that if I cancelled I'd owe $342 for the rest of the services.  I have written them letters and informed them of the situation yet they're still calling me and trying to get me to pay.  I have informed my bank not to allow the transactions so they will not recieve the money.  I'm not paying for something I feel mislead about.  I would never have signed up for it had I known all the details.

Same experience. Our puppy plan expired last December. It is now the end of September and they will not quit calling us no matter how many times we go around and around with them that we paid through the end of the contract and they are getting no more.

It is ridiculous when you want to get out.  I had to block them on the credit card.     They call numerous times a day with an automated system with these ridiculous messages about how concerned they are about your pet's health.  Funny, they were never concerned when they were collecting money for years.   They only became concerned when I stopped letting the charges go through on my card.    And today, despite calling to cancel twice, they told me, with attitude that we had not cancelled.  Maybe because they kept giving my husband the run around when he called to cancel. They kept auto renewing.   They also began calling my cell phone which was not the contact number they had for us.   This is a complete scam.   I regret that we used such an unscrupulous group when our pets were alive.  If I had known how they would handle their business when we were ready to leave, I would never have supported their program all of those years.   It is obviously motivated entirely by greed.

My elderly mother signed up for this plan for her 4-pound dog. I have been auditing the service tickets we got from Banfield in Houston. Info in the dr. notes conflict with the Rx's they prescribed for this dog through the first couple of years of the plan. When my mom told them by phone to cancel the plan, after having the dog's teeth cleaned once, & vaccinations a few times, many of which are not necessary & probably harmful to a tiny dog, they told her she couldn't cancel & she told them she would stop the debit authorization. Five months on, they still call her daily insisting she owes them money. It's not a lot of money, but I have advised her to ignore them. I will request itemized service bills from the main office (since the local Banfield offices can't give that info, they said once the work is done, all paperwork goes to Corporate) and I bet I find that the services she received for her dog do not equal or exceed the $1000+ they collected from her before she attempted to cancel. These posts have been helpful as I read them to her but I wish she had not been such an easy sell. They prey on your desire to keep your animal healthy, & bill it as a good deal. It's ridiculous.

I signed up with Banfield, took my cat in to get spayed.
She came out sick as hell, not eating, peeing blood, throwing up every 20 minutes, etc.
Took her to a veterinary hospital, $5000.00 later, my cat ended up having to have a kidney removed.
I have told them that I REFUSE to pay them anything and have sent them all my receipts for the $5K.
They still call.

They pulled a bait and switch on me in getting me to sign up for one of their plans....my contract clearly states $29 per month and they tried to take $49.99 out of my account! Our contract is null and void as far as I am concerned. I do not do business with people that write down one price and then charge me another just because they have access to my bank account! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!

Signed up for a 1 YR. membership for our dog because at the time of his injury he needed surgery & w/membership surgery was way cheaper & for a yr., we thought the membership was pretty reasonable.   Till the 1 yr. was up & into about 2 month into the 2nd yr. I called to ask when the yr. was up & they told me it AUTOMATICALLY renewed for an additional yr. I told them I was never told this & did not want to renew. They told me I was responsible for the whole yr. During this process my credit card has expired so now I get calls 3-5 times a day. Tried to cancel but since my husband signed the form & it was MY credit card only he can cancel.  Rude people on the phone who put me on hold for 10 mins., hoping I would hang up. Got address & will be sending them 100 letters till they cancel my membership & refund my money!

I was able to cancel a plan for my kitty because it is not insurance, but prepaid medical services.  I told them I was moving and wasn't going to be able to afford to pay for it anymore..  They cancelled it for me because I had already paid enough towards it to cover the services he had received, so all I lost were the free office visits, percentage discounts, and the remaining services.

I also had a dog and another cat covered at the time.  After moving, I had to change banks and I updated their information with my new bank, but never received a charge to that account.  Now I get calls.

Got sick and tired of the upselling and the fact they refused to give my pup the most basic of shots without a full day visit. When he was neutered they administered enough drugs for 3 dogs his size and then told me he flat lined on the table and had heart problems. They wanted to outsource me for cardiac tests costing $1100 which I declined after getting a real vet's opinion (and where I found out about the drug issue in surgery). In fact, their mistake did ultimately cause my 10 month old pup to die of heart failure later weeks later.

When I notified them that he had died, they insisted on the remaining 5 months of the plan or a cancellation fee. When the card expired 3 months after my pup died, they started crazy calls to get the new expiration date on the CC. They were given the new expiration date for the remaining months and never used it....instead they sent me to collections.

If you love your pet (and your sanity) DO NOT go near Banfield!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have talked to them at least 4 different times, telling them that I was NOT continuing my plan after the first year. Our year was at the beginning of August 2011 and now in November they are still calling me wanting permission to charge my card... F.O. Banfield! I have told you NO and last time I checked No means No!

I signed up for this plan as well as for my two kittens.  I was more or less suckered into the program.  I rescued two little kittens from being put down and I took them there for their shots, etc.  I got suckered into buying the wellness plan so that they can be neutered and spayed.  Well, when I took them, they told me they could not spay the female cat because she was allergic to the medicine they wanted to give her and she almost died on the table.  So, the wellness plan did not do me anygood since it was not going to cover the surgery.  Well, they are still trying to charge me for that wellness plan for a cat they never ever treated but once.  Ridiculous!

I signed up with Banfield's for my two dogs and was very, very happy with the plan.  I paid a little each month and my dogs got excellent care.

But the office that I went to changed vets and the new vet''s primary goal was to sell me junk my dogs did not need.  I told him over and over and over, my 14 year old dog was OLD and was not going to get well no matter how much you try to run up my bill.  I'm not paying $400 in test for this OLD GUY.  He eats and he poops and he and I are are happy with that.

I tried to cancel the policy on the old guy just to get out from under the stress every time I took him for shots and was told that I COULD NOT CANCELL THE PLAN and had to finish paying for the year.  I told them that I was not paying another dime and cancelled my credit card from accepting their charges. Unfortunately this meant that I lost the plan on both dogs which I regretted.

Anyway, my OLD GUY died and so I figured that they could not now insist that I pay for a wellness plan on a DEAD DOG.  Wrong!, I was told that it was a yearly contract and still owed them money.

WHAT A BUNCH OF STUPID FREAKS.

I've always recommened the plan to my friends but NO MORE.  These people are crazy. After paying on this plan for 6 years I think I deserved more consideration.
They can take their plan and put it WHERE THE SUN DOES NOT SHINE.  And I told them that same thing.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS WELLNESS PLAN.  Put $30 a month in an envelope labeled Dog care and when you guy needs shot you will have funds available.

Prank Call
Sign up for a "wellness" plan, and you enter a world where if there is ever a minute of your life that you are not spending money at their place, they are harassing you on the phone as to why.  Then, when you do (and always - surprise - more $$$ than what is "covered" in your hideously expensive plan) you become a high roller, and they'll harass you to spend even more.  And, they could give a rat's butt if your pet lives or dies.

Do not Enrol with Banfield hospital.
This is a big business that encourages their employees to up sell, scare clients into unneeded expensive procedures so they could make more money.
The whole experience goes like this:
You set an appointment, you come and wait, and wait, and wait...
Then you get to be put in a room and wait, and wait, and wait...
Then someone comes in and on your precious time starts to fill out the form on the computer, (you think finally...) but no... This set up is designed to keep you waiting some more, so then you wait, and wait, and wait some more...
Then the Vet comes in, you are now so happy, BUT WAIT... THERE IS MORE...
Then you have to wait for an assistant to come back in and give you the price, but... you have to wait...
She or he then comes in and gives you the price and "HOW MUCH IT WOULD HAVE COST YOU, IF YOU DID NOT HAVE THEIR PLAN" MEANING THAT THEY WOULD HAVE OPENLY SCREWED YOU FOR IT.

Well, now you think this is finally over, right? WRONG!
You now come out of this claustrophobic room only to find out that you are back in line to pay for your pets meds, but... you have to wait, and wait, and wait...
If your patience has run out just reading this, imagine what is feels like going through this scam.
BUT WAIT... THERE IS MORE!!!
Now that you have dedicated your entire day off to this set up, you are angry for your time being scammed out of you, you don't want to come back anymore, so you go to a local Vet whose office has been in business for the past 50 or so years and you get NO BS, your wait time is minimal, your bill is 2 to 3 times less with no monthly fees and no follow ups unless needed, and you finally see that whatever they did to your pet is working. You are so happy, you feel like you finally have won a lottery! BUT WAIT... THERE IS MORE...
You are now facing early cancellation penalties at $150 per pet, BUT WAIT, YOU HAVE TO CALL THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND TALK TO NO FACE ABOUT IT.
So you say, screw this, BUT WAIT, THERE IS MORE...
You are now getting automated harassing calls from them early in the morning about past dues.
So, you realize how much Banfield sucks and you decided to BAN the BANFIELD by changing your phone number, BUT WAIT... THERE IS A LOT MORE TO CHANGING YOUR PHONE NUMBER...

It is Banfield Pet Hospital WELLNESS PLAN.

They do not call for telemarking (as far as I know).  They are calling because your automated charge for your Wellness plan did NOT process because there was an issue with your credit card.  It could be not enough funds or as simple as the card expiration date needs to be updated.  They usually leave a message as to the problem unless your voice mail does not identify your name.

The number they will have you call back on is the same number.

Yes, this is Banfield Pet Hospital.  More likely your program has ended and they are trying to cross-sell other insurance programs for your pet.

I only know this from Scott's post.  They left a recording message but couldn't understand if they said post box enrollment program, but when I "googled" the number, Scott indicated Banfield, and sure enough - it clicked, because we have a puppy insurance program with Banfield that has expired.
