I too received a call from 'Joe Philips' telling me that he was going to be at my house on friday to serve papers9(this call was on wednesday).  I called the number he left for me the same day and thought I was working with someone to resolve this debt(not my issue here, I would like to take care of it once and for all).  I get a phone call today(thursday) from 'Joe philips'....AGAIN?!  really?  and to ice the cake, he left a message regarding the serving of papers and court business on a family members voicemail.  NOT OK!  So when I spoke to the girl today about the debt I asked her which 'courier' company he worked for because I wanted to file a complaint about the message left on my family members phone(not to mention he left one on my phone as well...so the family member was overkill).  The girl I was talking to said 'oh sure, I can take care of that on my end.  Now I really start to question this whole business.  This 'courier', Joe philips is supposed to be in my state?  THis is an east coast company, how exactly are you going to file a complaint on my behalf on a third party individual?  So I get the name and number of the original company that owned the debt.  It was for $800, ok...I can agree with that.  But empire assets told me on wednesday that the debt was $3800, then $1900, then $1700 and now they can settle for $1600.  At the end of it all nobody wants to feel threatened or cheated.  I think paying the original debt is fair.

The point is that there are whole armies of dead beats out there who have skipped town (with the goods) and left their real names (or aliases), their debts, and their phone numbers behind them. In the good old days, you never made a major purchase unless you had the cash on hand to pay for it. Credit is too easy these days. Therein lies the trap into which too many people fall. And that is why collection agencies are having such a wonderful time phoning everyone and anyone -- and driving ordinary people like you and me up a wall. We may have the phone number that the deadbeat originally had, and that is why we get the calls.

The simplest things to do: Cut up the credit cards and pay cash.

Yep....got phone calls using the same blah blah come to your house and serve you with papers. I am getting tired of their voice mails and so is some of my family they are calling. I am keeping the messages saved and have reported this to the FTC as well. I wished this piece of crap man would drive up my drive and get out of his vehicle cause the Sheriff's Office is where he will be going. No one has sent me any letters telling me I owe them anything. Nothing gives anyone the right to pick up the phone and leave messages like they do. As soon as I find out their actual address and who owns the company that is behind this, my attorney will be sending them papers. They won't get a courtesy call either!

Just an FYI out there for anyone interested.
This organization 'EAS' - Empire Asset Systems is a scam operation.
They purchase old debt records and try and use illegal methods for collection.
In my case it was a case of identify fraud which was satisfied years ago through our County Court Systems.
They selected the wrong individual this time!
I have conducted research on this operation and they are currently under investigation and are in the throws of a lawsuit through the State of California for fraud.

I have contacted my attorney and will refer 'Joe Philips' to him if he calls again.
Our state does not use 'legal courriers' for legal submissions, they must go through the County Sheriffs Department.

Therefore; our sheriffs department, my attorney and the District Attorney's Office is VERY INTERESTED in pursuing this matter with Joe Phillips, Kendra Duncan and Empire Asset Systems.

Folks, don't panic - do your research - in my case, they weren't aware that the County was already involved in the matter as it was a case of identitiy fraud - and was handled by the Court System here.
So, they are pursuing a closed matter that the court systems here handled.

I am looking forward to our next conversation........

P.S.  The messages where the individual's make claims about them showing up at their door and where they were forced to pay large sums of money -- were written by their own hacks - as they are not Santa Claus - they cannot be in every state in the union.

If Mr. Phillips should appear at my door - the Sheriff will be waiting for him - as he is posing as an authority of the sourt system. - This is illegal in our state.....

I received a phone call from ":Joe Phillips" today.
Called the number they gave me and I have no idea what this is about.
They referenced a bank account I never had.

Not a problem Joe - I was told by Kendra Duncan to get a good attorney.

I contacted my "good attorney" and will allow him to settle the matter.

They try to scare you into paying by threatening you!

I have been getting messages from Joe for the past 3 days he is suppose to be showing up today so i am waiting and I am very afraid because I dont have a job and my fiance got a call about this loan that I am suppose to owe a year ago with a similar claim and he paid it for me now I think that was a scam too or else y would they be calling me again about this....so did joe ever show up in texas

I called the number and gave them the claim # they gave me.  They told me who was supposedly taking me to court.  It was an online company that no longer exists that accessed my bank account without my permission in 2010.  When I tried to get ahold of this company all numbers were invalid and finally I found one that  worked but the guy was very shady, didnt answer the phone with the same business name and was in a hurry to get me off the phone stating he had no record of me in his system.  I think the person that responded above is correct.  They are a company that has bought all of these old debts and is using this scare tactic to get the money.  I am going to contact my county online fraud agency and report them to my local magastrate because these people who ever they are claiming that they work for my county as legal couriers and it is a lie.

I got a call from Joe Phillips here in Texas. How many Joe's are there? He said I'm in his route tomorrow and will be serving me with a Notice of Intent to Appear in Court. He even called my mom's cell phone (she lives 4 hours away) and left her the same message looking for me. He said he will be coming by my residence or place of business to serve me. He never stated which collections/law firm he worked with or what county I'm in. He just stated "This is Joe Phillips. I'm a legal courier within the county."

I called the 888 number he left and CBCS Collections answered. I wish they would tell me the debt so I can contact the actual company and pay. I'm just not sure if this is a scam to get my social security number and info.

How many Joe's there are

I would like to know how many NC's there are because I got a call in NC from JOE myself from him saying he was a legal county courier and said he was serving me papers and never showed up.  When I called the number the man that answered was alittle upset that Joe gave me the number and stated that he doesn't usually talk to people until after they receive their papers.  I said I was just trying to make sure that JOE has the right address and he stood me up.

Wait for him to show up from his boiler room. If he doesn't show up, he's a wimp like his Daddy.

I just got a call from this Joe Phillips guy saying he's coming to my place of business or residence with papers. Do I call the number he left or just wait on him to show up?

Joe phillips came and served me with paperwork it was for an old loan i took out and now they are taking me to court..... i thought it was a scam so i didnt even bother calling the number he left on my voicemail then this guy came knocking on my door saying hes got a notice of intent for me to appear in court and i had to sign it.... so i did and then called the filing party and they said since i signed im going to court and going to be held resposible for the pre-litigation balance

Myself and my fiance's brother received a phone call from a Joe Phillips asking for me and to call about a reference #.  He left information about a legal matter on my fiance's brother's and my voicemail.  I know about the FDCPA and I do know that leaving such information on a voicemail is ILLEGAL!

have gotten two messages from this joe phillips wont say who he works for but leaves a number telling me to call with a reference #. Called the number and the lady starts berating me about old debts and such. A 300 dollar loan from 09 will cost me 1700 after their fees. I hung up on her and if joe phillips shows up to my door, i'll have all my cop friends waiting for him when he knocks.

they said they were a legal courier and bringing a certified notice of intent to appear in court then some guy joe phillips showed up with it i went to court and ended up paying for their lawyers and the cost of the courier....... i wish i woulda never read this stupid page or else i woulda settled outta court like they gave me the option of doing instead i paid 1100 bucks on a stupid loan i took out for 350...... they dont tell u b ut u end up paying for their lawyers if u lose too

Called today from unknown number saying that they had a pending case, and they were a process curior . called my cell phone gave me a "reference number" then I asked for the case number, and they said the ref number was it. I pulled up the number when they called and came to this page.

I asked them when  the name changed from process server to currior, and he got upset. He was giving me an old address which I haven't lived at for a few years and asked if i was still there because he would bring it to me. I laughed called him a fake, and asked not to call my cell phone again. He responded "very well sir, we will find other ways to find you!" then he hung up.

THIS COMPANY BUYS REALLY OLD DEBTS THAT WERE NONCOLLECTABLE AND TRY TO COLLECT. THE THREATEN WAGE GARNISHMENT AND THEY HAVE DOCTORED THE PAPER WORK TO MAKE IT SEEM RECENT. THEY CLAIM I HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH A BANK IN 2008. NOT TRUE. THEY SAY A COURIER WILL DELIVER A SUMMONS FOR ME TO APPEAR IN COURT. I REPORTED THEM TO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU FOR FALSIFYING DOCUMENTS TO MAKE A CLAIM.

IF THEY'RE USING PROFANITY THEN THIS CANNOT BE AN ATTORNEY IT'S GOT TO BE A SCAM
