To be honest, Im in a legal battle with this company right now. I contacted them in October 2013 and did what was asked to cancel my account. They wanted a faxed letter from me with my account number and home address. In January 2014, the account was still not closed and they had charged my checking account for the months of November through January. Now its May and the account is still not closed after calling, faxing and screaming at a manager to closed the account. Still not closed. I canceled out my debt card to stop from payments being made. Now getting harassing phone calls from their billing department.  When they were APEX, I had no issue. Since they were purchased by Vivant, nothing but problems.

Just got a call today from this number with a left voicemail from Joyce Black (I see her name popped up in 2009, they do well with retention I guess?).  My system is with Vivint and they seem to have had a processing error. Called the number they left, they only needed the address to confirm the account information (I was sketchy mainly because they didn't even leave a voicemail with my name, or the actual reason of the call). Was all legitimate, reran and processed payment.

This isn't necessarily the best place to post if you're unhappy with their service... You're literally reaching only their current customers, or pissed prior customers... If you don't understand what it means to be in a 5 year contract with them, maybe you shouldn't sign it. They can try to help you out by freezing your account and not expecting payment, but that's what you call a longshot or short-term.. Not a permanent for-sure thing...

From November 12 ? November 19, 2013 I was without security service from Vivint.  I left for a trip on November 12 and set the alarm for "Away?. Upon my return on November 15, I unlocked my door went to the Vivint panel to put my code in and nothing happened.  Fortunately my home was not burglarized during that time, but I would definitely have held Vivint responsible since the system was not operating.

I immediately called Vivint and read the message ?Loss of sensor supervision.?  I was told by several people to take off the face of the control panel.  I responded that I am not an electrician.  I also stated that to advise a senior citizen to take the face off a control panel is ludicrous. The control panel is Vivint?s property; not a senior?s.
These are the people I spoke to:
Katiusk, account manager on 11/17 @ 3:50 p.m.
Tony Rowberry
Will on 11/18 @ 7:00 pm
Mark (left message) on 11/18

Finally, on November 19, Nat Gentles, technician came by.  He took the face off the control panel and informed me that the Vivint representative who installed the system did not do it accurately. ???Oops?.negligence on Vivint?s behalf.??? Is this a violation of The Magnuson?Moss Warranty Act (P.L. 93-637) is a United States federal law, (15 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq.). Enacted in 1975, it is the federal statute that governs warranties on consumer products.

On January 6, 2014, I learned that Vivint took an unauthorized amount of $73.99 from my account.  -  Vivint is authorized to take only $49.99 from my account (see contract). This is critical for me as I?m on an extremely fixed income which means that other necessities such as food was lacking.

On January 16, I called Vivint and spoke to a Junior, Account Manager, requesting cancellation.  He said he would send me a check for $24.00.   That?s nice of him; however, what proof do I have that someone else in Vivint will take unauthorized money from my account? This is a trust issue.  He told me the only way I could cancel was to refer a person to Vivint which would cancel my contract.  My response to him was ?why would I refer someone to a company that I am not satisfied with or trust??  That does not make sense.  I then told Junior that I would contact my congressional representative and the FBI Fraud Division to apprise them of the treatment I am receiving from Vivint.

I am requesting that my contract be cancelled immediately and no more monies be taken from my account due to the following:

1.    System was not installed properly in April, which resulted in me being without security for over 10 days.

2.    Vivint took unauthorized amount from my account. The contract is for $49.99 a month NOT $73.99 (which is fraud).

That's what I was thinking. A lot of people bi*** about a company calling to collect their money, but they are acting all offended by it when it is not Vivint's fault that you lost your job! I have Vivint for over 2 years and love it.

Have you considered blocking them?  Your answer to them does not change, why take the call, they are just taking communication history on you to put in your credit file.

I have Vivint in the house I just sold. I called them and told them that I sold the house and did not have a place for the security system and the new owner said he would take over the account. I sent them and the new owner all of the info they needed but  I guess he didn't  take over the acct.because I keep getting calls from them. They never leave a message. I don't get bills or emails from them but they still keep calling.  They will not work with you. I tried to cancel the service when I couldn't afford it after a year and a half.  They don't care and it is not worth what you pay for it.  I would say never get home security from this company.  It is way over priced and as I said if anything happens they will not work with you. If you read the fine print you are stuck in a 2 year contract so read the fine print before you sign. You may get free installation but with the price and all it isn't worth it.

That sound you hear is them trying to access the alarm keypad so they can listen-in on you.  When they connect to your alarm, they have to transmit a "trigger" in order for your alarm keypad to respond.  They can NOT use the same type of sound that a Fax or modem uses.  If they did your fax or modem would anser the "handshake" tone.  I am getting the same thing from them after trying to cancel my account.  I have turned everything over to my Lawyer.  I will not let them extort money from me.

This is Vivant/APX.  They call while I'm at work and leave about ten seconds of static on my voice mail at home daily.  I've asked them to stop doing that because if there is no voice mail, I can sit at work wondering if there was an alarm and what's going on, if Vivant did not call me so much.

The funny thing is they've sent me a letter saying my home phone number no longer works and they will no longer be able to contact me. I called them on that since I do want to be called if an alarm is set off.  They make no sense whatsoever sometimes.

And no, they claim they have not been calling my house for no reason.

When they're trying to sell equipment upgrades, I receive an email with pretty pictures of their newest keypad.

My account is up to date, and my alarm works.   My pets trigger it about once a month and they call the cops to go investigate when I'm not home to receive their call.  I'm there when my pets set it off at night so I do answer the phone besides jumping out of bed to turn it off.

My initial contract is up, and I'm considering switching because the real reason I got the alarm was the peace of mind I'd have if there was a fire since I do have animals in the house, besides sound sleepers in the family.  The break-in angle's always a possibility, but my worldly possessions are sure to disappoint.

I'm guessing your contract had expired and you were no longer obligated by it?  If not, then you better take a look at the contract b/c you can't just cancel without paying.  This is not unusual. Lots of contracts have that language.

This number belongs to what used to be APEX alarm. It is now Vivint Alarm. It is the billing department. If you got a call from them, call them back. They may have an issue with your billing (if you have this company). That is why I got the call. The card on file had expired and they were calling to update the records for the correct billing information.

I'm a Vivint customer.  Everytime I answer, it's just really really loud static (NOT a modem or fax).  Sometimes v-mail records the static too.  I did not know this was a vivint caller until I looked up the number on this site.

If you are considering a home alarm monitoring system company, whatever you do, AVOID--at all costs--doing business with VIVINT (formerly APEX).  Should you ever become unemployed and limited to one income, this company does NOT understand the words "I am still unemployed, and our total monthly income has not increased.  We still do not have disposable income; therefore, we cannot help you at this time."  The only ways out of a "contract" with Vivint are having someone else take over the account for the remainder of time on the "contract" and paying more of what you don't have (they wanted $600 from us--laughable when we clearly explained we no longer even had $43.29 a month for them after my salary from my last job ran out).

Caller ID lists this number as a toll free call, but it is really Vivint (formerly Apex), an alarm company with whom we have stopped doing business.  They won't leave a message on the answering machine (they just hang up if we don't answer, and we don't answer non-identified caller ID calls).  They are attempting to collect on an account which we attempted to close in August of this year after I became unemployed and my salary ran out.  I did call the company and explain that we needed to close the account as we would no longer have room in the budget for their monthly fee.  The person with whom I spoke tried to get us to pay about $500 we did not have (or get someone else to take over the account ... as if).  They had been getting their money through automatic billing, but I was forced to stop payment to them so they wouldn't continue to withdraw funds we did not have.  I did not hear from then until I got a notice in the mail 10/9/201 seeking a previous balance of $86.58 and a new monthly service charge of $39.99 (plus $3.30 sales tax).  I emailed them at support@vivint.com, reminded them that (due to financial exigency) we considered the account closed, and informed them that we wouldn't be able to pay the bill.  We will NOT be doing business with Vivint again any time in the near future, even if I do get work again.

We told them we were reporting their company to the Office of Consumer Protection for their business practices and would not be paying our bill until they resolved the issue, so they have been calling every day purely to harass us.  look up Vivint (formerly Apex Alarm) in ripoffreport and you will see hundreds of people like us with the same problem.
