My 80 year old grandmother received a yellow postcard with a
"winning prize" for her to call so she called and they asked for her credit card, she told them she didn't have one then she told my granny to go get her checking book and read off the numbers on the bottom. Guess she though my granny was too old to catch on but my granny told them no thats her checking account info and she isn't stupid. The "sales rep" tried to convince her she needed it to send her "prizes she won" (ie. magazines) granny told them to keep the magazines and hung up.

This is to Karen. Why would an employee of Wachovia be giving out any information except to tell Wachovia customers to call the number on their card or statement to verify their account activity. This is a fraud and a scam. Even if it wasn't, Wachovia needs to improve on their customer service and not sound like some fraudulent phishing scam to steal money from unsuspectin people who don't know better than to give out there social or account info over the phone when they don't know who they are talking to.
Does Wachovia know you are on public forums giving advice. I think you work for these scam artists. I will begoing in to my local office and filing complaints with the fcc and the ftc.

I recieved the call also knowing I had overdrafted. So I was eager to get the overdraft issue resolved. So, I gave Camil Brooks, Antony Jones, and Hernando Torezz whatever they asked for. They said if I did a transfer with someone who also had a wachovia account that they'd waive one of the fees. Yes the transfer was done over the phone. So, I put someone elses account at risk for a fee waive. Any ways the fee didn't get waived but the waived amount was transfered to my account and was only negative the unwaived amount, thus to say I deposited some money in my account thinking it was going to brinng it current only to find out it was still negative. I call the number back and Camil assures me that the my account will be fixed. A week goes by i check same thing, negative. I call the number again got Camil again, tell her my situation and she says that my account is no longer in their office so Im S O L. Well I guess I just need to make my next deposit in another bank.

I started receiving these calls and indeed my account was overdrawn. An e-music subscription had charged to this account; I thought I had transferred it to another debit card.

The fact that I receive calls when that happens doesn't bother me if I need to take care of a problem like this. The fact that these calls come at 10pm to midnight does bother me alot. There are laws which limit when someone can be called and I believe that the cut-off is 8pm. Midnight calls need to stop. That's plain harassment.

I honestly think that nobody takes the time to read these messages boards....because its been about 5-6 people that have verified that they have called this number and spoken to a Wachovia rep and had their numbers removed. After getting these calls all times of the day I finally I spoke with Wachovia about a week ago.  That number IS a legitimate number.  First, I called customer service (the number on the website).  They verfied the number and transferred me to another department.  After sitting on hold for what seemed like hours I finally got a representative. I found out its the number to their Overdraft Resolution/Deposit Recovery department. I asked to speak with a supervisor and after waiting for what seemed like some more hours I was connected to one, Karen Basham. I kindly explained to her that nobody at my number has a Wachovia acct and that I would like to have my number removed. She apologized for the inconvience and assured that the number had been taken out and I haven't recieved another call since that day. If you call customer service and have them transfer you to the department you can by pass all that info that the recording ask you for and they will get you on the line with a representative. Once you do get a rep ask to speak with a supervisor. Then just explain that you don't have an acct and that you would like to have your number removed. And if you do have an acct with Wachovia verify with customer service if something is indeed wrong with your acct. Because when I asked the supervisor what the nature of the calls were she stated that Wachovia calls customers in reference to their accts when they overdrawn for a substantial amount of time  So this is not fraud it IS a legit number. I've provided the info for the supervisor below (including email)

I am constantly getting calls from this number, and it is a recording asking for George. I've tried calling them back with no luck. It is very annoying to say the least. I really would like to get them to stop calling my cell. With all the scams out there this is freaking me out and has me scared to try and contact these people to get them to STOP calling me!

Karen (above) described exactly what they did when they called me. My account was indeed in the negative (for 11 days due to the fact that I had a yearly subscription renew that I was unaware of, and I rarely use the account so I haven't checked it in months. It's dormant.) Only the person I spoke with demanded payment (after telling me exactly what the amount was, and she was right.) FOUR TIMES, each time I told her that I would be in today to pay it with cash, each time she demanded a credit card or check number from a different account. We went back and forth for several minutes, me telling her I will pay it face to face, and her telling me she could waive the NSF fee and asking for a credit card over and over again. I finally had enough and hung up on her. I bet you anything they get a cut of what they recover. Otherwise I can't imagine why she'd be that insistant that I pay her right then and there when it had only been negative for 11 days. Blood Sucking B*stards. I think it is legit, but I still wouldn't give them s**t. Just go to the branch and pay it.

this claims to be wachovia bank either overdraft department or deposit recovery. this is a FRAUD. i spoke with a representative at my branch who called them for me and confirmed this. if for some reason your bank called you they would know your account number and You could confirm what they had. do not give your information over the phone.

I got a call from them.. a lady said I need your address and name to access your WACHOVIA account.  I said, "Why do you need to access my account" multiple times.. Each time she said "I need to access your account" without giving me a proper explanation.  I said "I dont know who you are. You called me.  If you don't tell me why you need to access my account I won't give you my information."  She said, "OK Sir you can go to your local branch to get your message".

I actually did do some work in Wachovia this morning (adding an outside bank account).  This may very well be a legitamite call, but the way they are going about it is STUPID.  I don't think weary people would be willing to give their information out to anyone who APPEARS to be calling unsolicitedly.

Also, if you listen to the message completely it gives you the option to choose number 2 I think if this "is not...your name...". I got this call yesterday and chose that option because they have been calling for over a month now. It doesn't stop them. I just got a call a few minutes ago just before me last posting a few minutes ago.

I am having problems with Wachovia and bank fees posted to my account/s from people or companies I don't even know. I requested they stop any ACH withdrawls from any account which by the way Citizens can and has done so I know they can but they tell me that I have to contact the company's that are attempting withdrawls. I learned my wife took one of these calls not knowing if maybe it was a "bill pay" company confirming info so she gave them, luckily, an account number I don't keep money in but Wachovia refuses to do anything about it except keep adding 35.00 every attempt and telling me if I don't pay it, they will report it to the Chex systems. Great web site. I'll also save it.
