Ijust recieved a phone call on my job this morning from a woman froma n unknown number stating that they have a file claimed against me, she gave me a code and telephone number to call some litigation company to get more information. I called World Wide Processing and they told me I had a debt from a Cash Advance company for $352. The young lady stated that they had already tried to serve a supeneoa on July 2 six months ago, which is my birthday, but no one was home. I stated that someone is always at my home. Then she said that I could settle out of court for $300 and she would transfer me to the payment center. I told her that I am not paying then she said well I can wait for the papers to be served and I then said Thanks and hung up the phone.  This clearly is a fraud..  I have recieved these types of calls for the past 2 years from various unkwon numbers and companies, it's really a headache!!

I called the FTC today in regards to this World Wide Processing Group.  I was told by the FTC that this is a scam.  They are calling family members telling them they have papers to service him  and that they need an address because they have gone to the address on file repeatedly.  When asked what address they were going to...they responded that they could not release that info.  BUT...they could tell them that they had all this other info.  The FTC said that companies are hiding behind names such as World Group, and other law firm titles as well as website addresses.  She told me to ignore all calls and threats to them and filed a complaint for me.

The website address posted here in your passage is directing me to go daddy. com.  Is it possible they closed their website...or possible that you might have posted it wrong?  I received a call from them and I'm concerned obviously.

These people also call from 877-277-2536. Per their VM to me "a decision was made and it involves court documents." A case number was given. I checked into it and no court has had any contact from them regarding me. The "case number" was given...it is actually a file number. Their website is: http://worldwideprocessinggroup.info/faq.html. Per their website: "Debt Aqcuisition...Worldwide Processing Group, LLC purchases charged off portfolios from a variety of different creditors." Also, this was on there: "Q: What if I decide to simply ignore you? A: Under certain circumstances and when appropriate, Worldwide Processing Group, LLC can file lawsuits to collect debts from people who have been non-responsive. It is not something we always do or necessarily want to do, but, unfortunately, there are instances in which Worldwide Processing Group, LLC may choose to litigate." So, they actually do sue some people and those on the board that say they do are not lying.

Just look at the website and you'll see all the information there.

Repost from another discussion:
--------------------------------------------

I just had the same thing happen to me.

Got a call listed as unknown but the call back number left was the same as listed above by everyone else and the msg left was verbatium as everyone else above.

This is a full on scam and in total violation of fair debt collection laws.  No debt collector can threaten a lawsuit or criminal charges in an effort to collect a debt.  This type of scare tactic has been deemed illegal and can cost the people and/or company involved thousands in penalties (paid to you!).  Also it is a federal offense to misrepresent oneself as a legal firm, lawyer or an agent of the courts.  This can also result in criminal prosecution and jail time for those involved.

My advice to everyone getting calls from these people, save all voice mails, written communications and record all live phone calls (after notifying them they are being recorded), also ask that they send you a copy of said "charges" or legal activity be mailed to you (it is against the law to use the USPS to commit a crime and automatically bumps any criminal activity up to a federal offense) After, call your AG, your local DA and the FTC to report them.  They'll be out of business soon enough and by the sounds of it, it will be they that end up facing "charges".  Isn't irony grand... lol

People in debt have rights, companies or debt collectors cannot use fear or intimidation tactics to collect a debt.  You also have a right to deal directly with the company that the debt was originated with.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.  If this comapny won't give you any information of who they're supposedly representing, when exactly the debt was originated with and the full dollar amount, they're a scam!

Also something people don't know is that there is a statute of limitation on how long a creditor has to collect on a debt.  These companies will buy what's called "penny debt".  Once the statute of limitation has expired on a debt, "reputable" collection agencies will sell the debt for pennies on the dollar owed to less reputable companies.  The more aggressive the collection practice, the likelihood is that they no longer have any legal remedies to pursue the debt and will attempt to scare people into coughing up money thereby giving them nearly pure profit as they're no longer obligated to pass on any of the funds collected over to the originating creditor.  Also profanity and calling prior to 8am or after 9pm is also a BIG no-no!

Knowledge is power!  If you're not sure of what the law is or the statute of debt collection limitations google "fair debt collection practices" to become enpowered!

There is no such thing as debtors prison in this country!  The only entity that can put you in jail for debt is the IRS and they too have a statute of limitations (10 years if I remember right) and more often then not, they'll work with you.  They only time the IRS will arrest someone is if they actively lied about how much they owed in taxes.

Well there's also the DA for bad checks but that's an entirely different matter.  A lot of payday lenders will attempt to use this scare tactic to get people to pay up as typically people are asked to submit a voided check to secure the loan.  Seeing as the voided check precludes intentional check fraud, trying to scare people with criminal prosecution to collect on a payday loan is simply illegal!   Many states are deeming pay day lenders as preditory and you have legal recourse there is well!

IMPORTANT:  Don't give your address, credit card information or any other personal information to anyone over the phone!  If they're a legit debt collector, they should already have all this information and will honor your request to handle all repayment via the mail!  You also have a right to have information mailed to you regarding the originating debt and creditor and then a certain amount of time to dispute the debt (typically 30 days) and during the dispute time while the validity of the debt is invesatigated, all debt collection attempts during this process must cease!  If they cannot sufficiently prove that you owe the amountstated, to whom the debt is owed and that the statute of limitations hasn't expired, they must automatically cease all collection practices!  You must also be very careful to never officially acknowledge that you owe the money!  If the statute has expired but you acknowledge the debt, depending on the laws of your state, you may unkwowingly end up resetting the clock on the debt!

One last thing... as to contacting other people about you, there are strict laws prohibiting this as well.  If you've given references to get in touch with you, there strict laws here as well.  A company cannot release any information about you to anyone else but you or someone you've authorized to act on your behalf!  All a company has a right to do is leave their info and ask that a message be passed along!  They cannot release any info about you to what's considered a "third party". This is another big violation and can cost them even more in penalties and as this would be a violation of privacy laws and can see them hauled into court!  People have rights and if ADR was a legit law firm or process server (it is highly unlikely that any company looking to sue you will hire an atty or PS out of state!  Usually the Marshalls or local Sheriffs office is tapped to serve people) and if they were legit, they'd know all this!!!  They sound like the most recent plague of our bad economy!

Best of luck folks, hope all this has helped!

I got a message from ADR firm.  Returned the call and spoke with someone name Steven. He said he has court papers to serve me for a dept.  It sounded strange to me because if he suppose to serve me court papers, shouldn't he do it.  The number they gave me was 888-261-8309.  Is this for real?

Just called the ADR LAW FIRM ,which I googled online and spoke to a lawyer there. The young lady told me,they have been try to use the "Law" as a "Scared tactic" TO MAKE YOU PAY. Please know, if you ask these people to stop contacting you a work and home, and ask only contact me at the contact information they have , they have to. They are break a million and one collection laws, please report them to the BBB or Consumer Report. If they don't stop, get a lawyer and those threats will end,and you can start a lawsuit against them. This is Titian Company trying get there money.

ADR FIRM is not a law firm they are debt company. The ADR Law firm, LLC is a law firm and not affliated with this collection company. Please be aware.

Please start asking these companies for address, so you can google there information. Please do your research.

I got a call from the Bam Group today. The guy who called said he was a court processor and told me if I called the Bam group in the next two hours and settled my debt he wouldn't have to come serve me at work for a court summons. I said ok see you in two hours. About an hour and a half later the man called back and talked to my boss and told her the same thing. WHat kind of business not only calls you at work but also calls your boss? These people should be ashamed of themselves trying to scare people into paying.
