Mutual of Omaha the caller said the first time I answered this number. Recently I signed up on line for comparison insurance for Medicare supplementary insurance. I told the caller that I'd already chosen a supplementary insurance and thanked him for calling and said good bye.

Two hours later I receive a call from the same number. This time I didn't answer it.

If you are a senior citizen and receive these calls and ask them not to call you again it might be wise to lodge a complaint with Mutual themselves or with the appropriate agency. There was no reason for them to call me back.

I don't give out my cell phone number; it's just for emergencies.  This pre-recorded call was mostly unintelligible and completely unwelcome.

they called my google voice number and luckily GV recognized the number as SPAM before my phone even rang.  (I guess enough people have reported this number to GV before I got this call)
So it just went to voicemail, same deal as everyone.

If you have EVER filled out ANYTHING for ANY offer of ANY kind then they actually do have a right.
Any contest, mall kiosk, Survey, sweepstakes entry including HGTV home giveaway or similar. Always be careful what you fill out. No I do not work for them but have been suckered in the past. Learned from my mistakes.  :)

This is a new phone number. I want to know who is giving my number out so if you have anything in common with the following please reply explaining your similarities.
Some Apps have access to my phone information and this could likely be the cause.
Some Apps I use are:
 Voxer
 ColorNote
 Advanced Task Killer
 MX Mayhem Free
I am an AT&T Customer using a HTC phone which is Android.

I think an app could likely be the cause for this but some apps have access to the phones contact list so it may not even be an app on your phone. It could be an app on your friends phone collecting his contact. If this is the cause we will never find out here but if you use any of the apps above please reply with the apps name.

I also took part in a promotion for Marlboro and Harley Davidson but this is likely not the cause.

So. How can I report this? Who do I report it too? This is bull s***. I don't give out my number to anyone that would submit it like this. I am not even of age to sign up for this. Nor do I have a spouse or make over 40k a year. WTF. I called them back and it allows you to leave a voice message stating your number to get it removed from the call list. I stated my number loud and clear and added a little comment after. Sounded something like 'MyNumber' Don't f****ng call me again! You are being reported!
So... How do I report it?

I recieved the same 'script' this morning. Dallas from America West (garbled of course) calling from a 'Restricted Number'. I let the voicemail pick it up.

I did call back the number "Dallas" left to hear more info but I agree, it sounds like a scam.

'Dallas from the Advertising and Award center for America West' said that they had pulled an entry that "you or a family member filled out at an event last year" and I'm supposed to go to Earning Texas to sit through a 'travel reception' get the tickets. I enter sweeps now and then, and I was recently in Tx, but there's alot weird with this.

"The only restriction is that you match the information on your entry form that does state you are married or are in fact living together as a couple, are between 25 and 70 years old and have a household combined income of over 40k a year."

If you really pulled an 'entry' that I or a family member filled out, you would already know that I don't qualify for ANY of this. That sentence right there is a neon sign for me saying this is a scam.

Guess who's getting reported?

February 28, 2012 - Received a voicemail only, my phone did not ring. This was probably accomplished on purpose. A pre-recorded robo-call voicemail advised me that I've won trip to either Miami or Port Canaveral Florida to depart on either a Carnival or Royal Caribbean Cruise for 7-days.  I have to call within 24-hours to claim my prize.  They claim that either I, or a family member entered this contest and they claim the name of their company is "America West" like the airline -- so that it has a hint of credibility.

They promise that there is no pressure and they swear it's not "time share" -- there are a lot of high-pressure sales events that are not, technically, "time share."  However, there is NO WAY a company is going to fly anyone from anywhere, to their location, and put them on a cruise ship, without getting that person to part with an amount of money that covers both the airfare and the cruise tickets.  Notice that the text of the voice mail never said that you "won" anything.  Your name was "pulled."  That's probably a necessary accommodation to the Federal Trade Commissions statues on unfair and deceptive trade practices.  However, everything about this "contest" smells bad.  There is certainly going to be high-pressure when you get there, and there is no way that anyone is getting on a cruise ship without giving the "contest holder" some amount of money and buying something, anything.  THIS is why people do not trust commercial speech, or advertisers anymore - because there are so many companies willing to do or say anything to sell their wares.  Here is the full-text of the voicemail below -- I hope, by posting it, that a LOT of people who received this message will find this and other posts in search engines and learn all they can about the offer, the company, and this (in my humble opinion) deceptive advertising / marketing strategy and be fully informed before calling or (God forbid) getting roped into giving their money to any company who would use such a strategy to sell any product -- here is the text of the voicemail:

"Anne Calahan from the promotion department of America West (AmericaN West?).  Please be advised that the entry form you or a family member filled out at one of our events last year was pulled.  And you and your spouse have been selected to receive two complimentary roundtrip airfare vouchers departing the international airport closest to your home, heading out to your choice of Miami or Port Canaveral.  Where you will embark on a seven night eight day Caribbean cruise aboard your choice of Carnival Cruise Lines or Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.  Congratulations.  Not a time share.  No pressure.  No obligation to buy sign or join anything.  To redeem your complimentary promotional package please call toll free 1-877-500-3990.  Now we can honor your airfare and cruise package for two adults for 24-hours so please call as soon as you can.  Congratulations again. And enjoy round trip airfare for both of you as well as a seven night eight day Caribbean cruise, on us.

ALERT: By suggesting that you OR A FAMILY MEMBER entered a contest, we are led to believe that even though we know I did not enter any contest -- I never enter contests -- that someone else may have entered on our behalf, making this more credible.

ALERT:  The voicemail does not address you by name -- because they don't know your name, because you never entered a contest

ALERT: Call within 24-hours -- or they may have to spend more time and money to get you to call them.  That would be unfortunate

ALERT: You and your spouse -- I am not married.  Ummm... they didn't know that?  If that's a requirement of the contest, how is it possible that I could have been "pulled" -- because they did not say that I "won."

ALERT:  Since I my name was "pulled" to be selected for this illegal telemarketing approach (they have no authority to contact me on my mobile phone -- it's against the law, I NOT an existing customer of theirs and I did not provide my name to them, nor did I enter any contest), I would like to offer this company access to a particular part of my body that they can "pull" on... Two guesses what part of my body I'm referring to.  Hint: it's not my leg.

This is Dallas from America West calling to tell you that you have won two round trip tickets from America West with a contest form that you or a family member filled out at one of our events. You will depart DFW to destination points, Miami or Cape Canaveral, where you will leave on a seven day Carnival Cruise. Congratulations! Please call 1-888-408-1960 within 24 hours to claim you prize.
I just got this phone, I had a problem with my last phone and also my land line which are registered on the "Do Not Call List". They are an out and out scam. You can always tell a scam if they are not following the LAW! I have had no prior dealings with this company. They have even sent me post cards in the mail. Now they are calling and leaving messages on my cell phone which costs me $2.00 to get the messages off! I only use my cell phone for emergencies. It is illegal to use recorded calling machines if you have no dealings with the company unless you give your consent first, which I never will!
Whoever is doing this needs to be stopped!

Just got the same message...  I have a Dallas number, but have not lived there in 10 years.  When the message from the overly enthusiastic woman said me and my spouse (which I'm not married) won a trip from DFW, I knew it was a scam.  Especially since I never signed up for anything.  Total Scam!

I got the same message as described by others. But as a control let me mention a few details:
1) I am absolutely positive I didn't enter any contest last year not do I have a spouse or girlfriend.
2) I didn't have my android phone or current number until about 6 months ago (technically last year)
3) A total of 3 family members and no friends or colleagues have the number (I'm a bit reclusive)
3) The only businesses that have that cell number are a couple apartment leasing agents, Enterprise Rent a Car, and one online form that I required it (I can't remember what site but it was legit)
4)My cell phone has a different area code than where I live.

I hope that helps people figure out questions about it being a scam. The departure airport on the message was listed as the area code in which my phone was bought and activated, not the area code I live, so they must be figuring things out by the phone number rather than address which they would have had I actually filled out a contest form (they usually have a blank for address). With what others have written about them needing a credit card for ID (which they shouldn't) and the caller ID being private, it has all of the flags of a scam. I was so excited to get a free cruise, too, though I was skeptical from the start. I wanted to give it to my parents. Please be careful. There are too many unscrupulous scammers and identity thieves out there.

As for those saying "what's the worst that can happen?" In a word, everything. Identity theft can destroy lives and credit that has taken a lifetime to build and protect, and it can take years to correct.

I just received the call this morning myself - really funny. The message specifically tells you that you entered into a drawing and my name was picked. It then tells you that that there is no obligation to buy and it's not a timeshare.

Well, what they neglected to consider is that if I had entered a real drawing and that if my name was really picked, wouldn't I already be expecting it to not be a timeshare or anything like it? Plus, I've won "name drawn" contests before and when I was contacted, it was

1. A real person that contacted me with a real return #
2. Not "time stamped" for forfeit within 24 hours - you've won fair and share and they give you plenty of time to get back to them for details.

Ridiculous!!

Gosh, I guess these people just wont give up...I just got this call, about an hour ago. The number they called from was local but unknown, so I didn't answer. Went to voice mail, same message as everyone else. I did call this number back 18884081960 and as soon as they said you have to attend a travel seminar of some sort I hung up. It's just like those people that try to get your money at the mall and stuff with a free trip to Great Wolf Lodge or some other resort.
