Yeah, I got a call from Microtech, but I did not allow them to do anything, because I know that no reputable company would call you to tell you of your viruses, and install software that you didn't want or need. Every computer has errors and warnings, and you would know if your computer had viruses anyway, as your computer would run extremely sluggishly. Its a scam, just like many people that call to sell you something. Personally, I will go to a store and buy anything that I need, or order it from trusted companies online, but I am not willing to buy any software from a sketchy guy who calls me out of nowhere, from a company that I've never heard of, who doesn't even speak or understand English well. This is 2013 and you have to watch yourself, there are many dishonest people out there. I can install my own protection when I need it.. Don't fall for this crap!!!

I goofed.  I really shouldn't post here early in the morning, before I'm fully caffeinated.

ssmith is a shill.  Most people find this site when they google a phone number that has been harassing them or that they suspect is a scam.  ssmith came here to sing the praises of a company that called her.  The only way that happens is if she is one of the scammers.

Shut down your computer and take it to a reputable local computer repair place.  The caller turned off your anti-virus and anti-malware program.  If you do on-line banking the caller now has your access codes.  Contact your bank and get your account number changed.

My neighbor fell for the scam, too.  She got lucky.  I told her its a scam before the scammer got into her bank accounts.

I got a call from 888-408-6649 saying my computer was badly affected by spywares and i had many other critical issues with my computer. He (Jack Miller) 'with a bit asian accent' informed me that he was calling from "Microtech IT Solutions". He walked me through all the errors in my computer. and i ended up paying him $350. I was informed later by my husband that there are many scammers around who just ask you to pay money for taking care of your computer but they never call back. But to my surprise this guy called me on next monday as per the appointment fixed while paying the money. Its been 7 months now and these guys give me a call on every monday and clean my computer for me! GOD BLESS u Miller! lots of LUV! :-)

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected-corrupted scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

I am sure there's nothing wrong with your computer but there's something wrong with the ones who are calling you.
