Any caller from this number asking about AT&T accounts is a scam. AT&T confirmed that they are not representatives of this company. I confronted the caller on this fact, he insisted that this was concerning out internet coverage. When I refused to back down, the caller hung up.

I also have to say that the employees (excluding management) are good people. They are just instructed to do bad things.
Sometimes management would push an order through without the federal tax I'D number verification. In my book, that is fraud. What do you think?

They instruct us to promote the product, and we are explicitly told to read the script, cut off customers (if they ask for a vendor code) and always be selling.
When I was there I was cussed out all the time. Even if it was the first time calling, people get annoyed getting called 5 to 6 times a day. Why do they call so much? Because management tells us to set the disposition as call be back later today, or call tomorrow.  There are buttons like "not interested,  call back, do not call,  fax, has uverse." But we get in trouble for using those buttons.
I would always set the disposition as either not interested,  or do not call.

I'm glad you quit, but its no excuse for them robo dialing when the law changed.  No one is paranoid, just annoyed as the calls blow up peoples phones. If I wanted a new phone or a better plan, I'd be calling them. This is exactly why the DNC was made into law.  What makes them think if I tell one no, that 5 minutes later the same call from a different center is going to change my mind?  It won't, it just lost them any business.

It sounds as if ATT is trying to skirt the tcpa law as well on this issue.

I am not saying it is the correct thing to do, but that's how ATT wants to do it. As ar as the do not call list, there are a bunch of call centers in the states. ATT wants each call center to have their own do not call list.
Some of the things posted are funny. You guys are so paranoid.
ATN is in San Diego, CA. We are not given a choice, we sit in front of a computer and it auto dials for us. We have to call the numbers ( robo dialing )and follow a script ATT provides us.
That is why I quit ATN.

Once again..
They are still breaking the DNC - the laws changed the 16th of Oct. 2013.

If the people do not want to be called from their service provider, then its pretty simple, tell them directly DNC, this means them and their affiliates they hire. Follow it up with it in writing sent registered mail, and always keep a copy for yourself as well.

It is unfortunate for us as well. It makes our jobs much harder.  Att does not have a centralized do not call list. Instead, they make each call center put you on a do not call list. The unfortunate part is we don't have access to other call centers do not call list, so it makes our customers frustrated. Every time a different call center calls, ask to be put on their do not call list. There are hundreds of call centers in the states, so it can be frustrating to tell each one of them not to call.

With all due respect.  You don't known what you are talking about. They ask the federal tax I'D number to verify that they are speaking with the authorized att acount holder.  We already have your federal tax I'D number.  We do it to verify that we are speaking with the authorized att acount holder.  If we didn't ask, anyone could make changes to your att account.

I used to work at atn. It is not a scam. Att contracts out call centers (call centers such as atn) to call current customers and tell them about promotion. They are essentially just a middle man, they direct your calls to the correct representatives. Att has so many customers, it would take forever for att to directly call all its customer.

If you wish to speak to an att employee directly,  you would have to dial 611. You can even dial 611 from your landline. You just have to wait a minute or so after you dial it.

Number shows up as Toll free & the person on the other end claims to be with AT&T, but it is a scam. He first wanted to speak to the person who handles the AT&T account, then asked if we wanted to continue to have internet services. He stated he was looking at our bill, but he could not give correct information from the bill, as we were also looking directly at our last phone bill. He finally got aggravated with our questions & us not giving up any information that he should have if he actually were with AT&T, and he finally hung up on us. We are very skeptical of any phone calls that come into our office, as there are so many scams which is why we gave him a hard time, didn't believe he was actually with AT&T. After we got off the phone with this man, I started to research the phone number he had called from & found this number listed everywhere as a scam. Do not approve anything when they contact you, don't offer up any information either- always call AT&T directly, as their main numbers & personnel can help you with anything you need on your account.

I just received a missed call from this number. A vm was left but it was just silence with background talking noise, then nothing. I called back and the person answered "This is Jocelyn from ATM" (or ATN). I don't know what this is and I have no affiliation with this company.

One of several numbers they are using. I suspect they are not located in the US, so no call list will not apply.

There is really nothing anyone can do about this crap other than to NOT ANSWER, not have answering machine pick it up. Then maybe one day you'll get purged from the list. Wouldn't hold my breath though.

If you watch your caller ID, it won't be long and you'll know which calls to not answer.

Called today, fit the usual M/O. Receptionist informed me of the call and I knew it wasn't AT&T, so I put the call to my voicemail. The vm said something like "Wow, (insert name here), I think I get what you're trying to say" and hung up. Been through this in the past, someone gave them info once and they messed up our account. AT&T since disallowed 3rd parties to bill our account.

These people are NOT, I repeat NOT with AT&T.  They called 3 times today alone.  There is always a person on the other end saying they "represent AT&T" and want to talk to the person who handles the AT&T account.  Several months ago when these calls were starting to become a nuisance I called AT&T and asked if they knew what was going on.  They said these people were scammers and I had AT&T put a block on my phone to make sure that no 3rd party charges can go on my account unless I authorize it.  These people are a  company called ATN who are a 3rd party who will try to take your long distance account.

These people called my business phone at 2:19, 4:38, 4:08, 3:00, all on the same day.  Must be robo-calling and did'nt get the message.  They also use:  888-431-1897.  Bad business for AT&T if representing them.  Lying about interruption in your service.

And, here is the bad part...Our company is switching some phone/internet services from Verizon to AT&T currently.  It is getting really hard to tell when we should and should not provide this info.
Is this really better than McDonalds!

Received a call saying AT&T was updating their internet service in my area to fiber optic. I asked a few questions and found out that only the internet was going to be affected and not my phone lines. That doesn't make sense! If AT&T was updating to fiber optic in the area then everything related to their services would be migrated to fiber optic. Big reg flag right there.

They also wanted to verify my confirmation and wanted my business tax ID. They should not be asking for that. I told him (Dan) that I would feel more comfortable going to AT&T's web site and getting more info. He said that he could give me a better deal than AT&T. But wasn't be representing AT&T?? That's when I figured it was just a scam to get you to change your internet service provider or just get your business's info and find another way to make fraudulent charges.

When in doubt just contact the original service company!!!! In fact, ALWAYS contact the original company!!!

I checked with AT&T and they do not currently offer fiber optic services in my area.

Never trust a telemarketer!!!

This number called business phone saying they were from AT&T offering service and requiring tax ID number for business.  Offered to give last four digits, that was not sufficient and caller began to argue with me.  I hung up.

CID says 'Toll Free" with the number.  Man wouldn't identify himself, asked for my boss, then asked if his wife was there/available by chance?  Definitely not anyone he knows, since he's never been married.
