YES! CANCEL THE CARD. OR THEYLL KEEP CHARGING YOU FOREVER

My mother received messages on her land line which no one uses saying they were trying to serve me and she called back to get information about my "case number" which isn't even a legit case numb with any WA court. They said they needed to serve me. Talked me into setting up a payment plan with them. First I was speaking with "Madison Moore". Then some jack a** named "Jacob/Jake". Ive been making payments foolishly and they've been doubling up my payments and charging my mother on her card (I had to use her card to set up the payment plan in "good faith" because I'm a starving student and don't have an income). THIS IS A SCAM. I LEARNED THE HARD WAY! I was told two weeks ago I wouldn't have to make any more payments and today "Jake" called to say they made a mistake. That my contract was still valid. I was still liable for the debt. When I disagreed with him he said I was being abusive and strong arming him and he was going to press charges against me then I'd go to jail and my credit would be ruined because I wouldn't be able to finish making payments...etc. He said they would allow me extra time to make the payments because he was trying to "help me." They don't have a web site. They use an "answering service" who when asked questions laughs in the phone at you. They use 5 different numbers 8884906958, 9174775381, 8884906964, 8886620490 and 8888806930. Something needs to be done to stop these people. Thank goodness my bank has fraud protection. Had to cancel my card and file a report against them with Bank of America. Don't fall for their BS. Oh and the account that I apparently had a debt with- has not been satisfied with any "law firm" and they have no idea who ERA and Associates are.

I have been getting this call for months. It is either Ms Voss or Ms Kennan. Seriously i wish they would get lost.....

These people took money from my sister's account should she cancel the card or have the bank stop payments from ERA?? Will some on please advice??

I CALLED THESE PEOPLE AFTER I HAD MADE SEVERAL PAYMENTS. I ASKED THEM TO SEND ME A SCHEDULE OF MY PAYMENTS AND OR PROVIDE THE WEBSITE. THEY ASKED ME FOR MY SOCIAL IN ORDER TO PROVIDE WHAT I HAD REQUESTED, THAT'S WHEN IT HIT ME THIS IS A FRAUD.

So I get a blocked phone call yesterday, which I never answer blocked calls.  Anyways, a voicemail was left for me, but I didnt bother to check that either, as I was pretty busy.  Then my boss calls me from the office, saying that the police are looking for me to serve me.  So of course then I got worried, and checked my voicemail, and it was the same message as several other people have mentioned, the whole, "we will make 3 attempts to serve you at home or your place of employment, and will give you a 2 hour window to call back."  Well I come to find out, the police werent looking for me.  Someone had called my office saying they are looking to serve me, but wouldnt identify who the caller was.

So being a little freaked out, I did call back, and they told me about this debt I had which was in the amount of a little over $2200.  He mentioned the name of the card, and which bank it was issued through and it did not ring a bell what so ever.  I did have a lot of credit cards when I was much younger and around 10 years ago, that ruined my credit, but then he tells me this card was opened in 2007, which I never opened a card in 2007.

Anyways, he keeps putting me on hold every couple minutes or so, "to talk to the attorneys" as he keeps saying.  And then says, they are willing to accept $1300, in 6 installment payments.  As freaked out as I was at that point, I agreed to it, and stupidly gave my debit card number to draw funds out of on the days they said, which was every 2 weeks.

Well today, I get into the office, and start doing research.  First I search the number, and come up to this site, which really got me curious.  Then I pulled my credit report, and I had nothing on it in that amount.  Then I called the company which supposedly the card was issued through, and they had nothing on file with my name, social, or account number.

This definitely is a SCAM!

I just received a message from a Mrs. Clark from this number stating that I was going to be served with papers at either my home or place of business.She even left me a "case #". She said I had a 2 hour window to respond. I called the number she left and an old man with an accent answered and had no idea what i was talking about. Total scam!!!!!!

These same people have been calling me for months now leaving the same message but with different callers and leaving different phone numbers to reach them at. This is a bunch of baloney! Their idea of a "three-day window" is incredibly different than mine I suppose (like I stated, MONTHS). And the same comments keep showing up every time I google a different number, they are certainly using decoys, and copying and pasting comments... Don't believe these commenters! Calling and settling will achieve nothing! They cannot garnish your wages! B***S***!

Got the same call yesterday. Was not my debt but they said I was a secondary contact and that I would be served with papers if they didn't hear from the primary contact before the day was out. Could not find any info on this company but finally found this site and all I can say is "DITTO",

PEOPLE...era is not registered with the BBB....that means there a scam company.
FAFA...very smart that you didn't pay with your debit card,,if they don't accept money orders then don't pay them,they want your cc card number or debit card and i bet when you go to the ATM to withdraw some money it will say..FUNDS UNAVIABLE THE LOW LIFE SLEAZY DEBT COLLECTION  COMPANY ERA TOOK ALL OF YOUR MONEY FROM YOU.

If they do call you again, answer the phone saying something like; Welcome to the gay search hot line, (if a woman is on the phone) ask them what type of woman are they looking for? (a guy then reverse it.)

I had one of these calls 10 years back, and just received one the other day...
I told them to bring it on then and told them again.

those whom ruin their credit have to wait 7-10 years to achieve more.. people already receive their punishments in that form. We all know when we are out of money credit saves our a** at that time frame and with out credit we seem to be screwed for that moment..

So if your on probation for ruining your credit,,, your already serving time for it,, don't fall for their inhumane tactics they try and pull on you...

So, I got the "you are going to get served" papers also and I actually called them back. Boy what a mistake. It seems like everytime I would talk to them something just didnt seem right. I alos had the pleasure of speaking with "Mr. Carter" who sounded just like "Mr. Cooper". This company is # hours behind me in time so when they called me at 930 something in the morning I knew something wasnt right, they should not have been open until noon my time. "Mr. Cooper" said he just went in to work early that day, the people who answered the phones werent even there yet. He also stated that he liked to go into work early so he could leave early and not be stuck in the "office" all day, its kind of hard to be stuck in an office all day when your business address is a box at a ups store. Everything that I have looked up and found on this supposed company has not been in their favor. I dont know about everyone else out there, but I work hard for my money and dont really want to get screwed out of it!!!!!!!!!!!

These idiots called me and threatened the same mumbo jumbo. Broke tons of laws in the process! These people are ridiculous!!! Yes the debt is yours and owed but they have no right to talk to people how they have no right to talk to people that way! Mr. Carter went rounds with me refused to give an address or company name. Said they had a private investigator hunt me down but had mailed all info to address used years ago! I finally said I'd just wait for subpoena since he wouldn't let me settle in Oct versus that day he said that's fine. I hung up another call immediately after male stating his name is Jake Edwards but was Mr. Carter without accent...said he heard recording of my convo with "Mr. Carter" and it sounded like I was going to settle I said I didn't know I was being recorded and yes I was going too settle but you guys are going about this in an illegal unprofessional pathetic manner so I will just take my chances with the subpoena and judgement hearing thats supposedly set while I file a complaint and he hung up the phone!

The messages here have been very helpful...explains a lot. They can't possibly be legit...I don't owe any debt and there is no judgements, etc. against me. They should be stopped. Some of you that have replied or are "working' with them need to get a lawyer! I am saddened by how many people are just too nice and will fall prey to their scare tactics. Let's just say they better not call me again!

I just got a message on a relatives answering machine from this company telling me it was a process-server. I called it back and left a message telling them they called the wrong number and am currently waiting on getting a call back. As some of you who posted before me, I worked with GE Consumer and commercial crediting and I know the laws inside and out and this is a scam and it will be brought about if and when I get a call back from this so called company... I can see now that this is some sort of scam and I will be doing as some of you before me, reporting it to the local police department... I sure hope others who come after me dont have to deal with this scam...

THESE PEOPLE CALLED ME SAYING I OWED A DEBT WHICH I DO OWE BUT I DONT HAVE $4000 TO PAY UP FRONT AND THEY TOLD ME THE PAYMENT I OFFERED THEM WOULD NOT BE ACCEPTED SO CAN THEY REALLY TAKE ME TO COURT OR GARNISH MY PAY CHECK?

I got a call from a Human Resource lady at my job (how embarrassing) said to call this number they are trying to serve me papers.  I called and got some guy who said he was not the person that had called my job but he would look into why I was being served.  He claimed to have talked to a lawyer.  Wanted to verify my info.  I gave him hell on that one.  He finally gave me all this.... were gonna sue you, garnish your wages and put a lein on your auto.  He had my bank info and all the info on my auto also.   I said I am going to call a lawyer to see if this is legit. He said give me your lawyer's number so we can call them and talk to them. I said I don't have one just going to call for info.  I hung up on him.  I am assuming this is a scam because my address has been the same for over 11 years and if I was going to get served they would know where to find me.  I hit some really hard times 5 years ago.  The death of my child and a husband that walked out due to depression.  I am a single mom with 2 sons.  I had no way of paying on some of my credit cards and just let them go.  People have hard times and things happen.  I know this debt should have been paid.  I am surely not going to let some company that I didn't have any kind of debt to collect money from me.

i received the same phone call and i just left a message for them to call me back her name was sharon clark she gave me a case number that i can't find.  also i had filed bankruptcy a little over a year ago and i have no credit as i filed on everything. so i have no clue besides it must be a scam.

With all do respect, they are a collection agency trying to scare you or whomever they are calling into paying an old credit card debt that was most likely charged off by the original creditor. They have been calling me periodically for over 4 months now with the same threat to serve me a summons to appear in court for a judgment filed against me. Aside from there being no judgment filed, they cannot disclose half the information that they do. They can not threaten to serve papers and then not do so. They are not a process server company. They are simply a pathetic excuse for a collection agency with no proper knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and what they can and cannot say or do. I would get their address and a manager's name and send a cease and desist letter requesting that they validate proof that you owe the debt. Upon receipt of your letter, if they attempt to contact you or your wife without validating the debt, they will have broken additional laws and violated your rights. You would be amazed at the information available to you by searching FDCPA online.

They are a collection agency trying to recover payment on old credit card debt that was probably charged off by the original creditor. Although they may be a legitimate collection agency, their practices of trying to scare you into calling them back is against the law....in any state. They are in violation of your rights according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act on several counts. They are not a law firm, they do not have the ability to deliver a summons to appear in court to your home, employer or relative. There is no judgment filed against you. You most likely owe an old debt that was never paid, that's it. They will most likely be pleasant when you call them back until you say you can't or won't pay the debt they show you owe. They can be sued for their illegal attempts to recover a debt.

These people are bill collectors from old debts that they have bought or found..and, they are trying to scare the people into paying the debt with up cost and fees....what they are doing is illegal from most all angles of debt collections. I was was a skiptracer/ debt collector with the American Creditors Bureau out of Jax Fl. ignore these people and call the police to write up a report on them...make sure to get names and all the information about their company as you can...the names they are giving are aliases as as so are supposed to be documented with the united states government....good luck to all of those who believe this scam of persuing debt in this manner

They called me as "ERA and Associates"   The number actually came up blocked one time, and Unavailable another, but this was the number they gave me to call.  I've been up and down all over the net about them.  Nothing is found.  The woman "Erica Kane" was very nice and friendly and revealed a debt I had many years ago.  She was reading off information about my debt and tried carefully to get more info out of me.  She asked if I still work at a job I had left many years ago.  She asked me to confirm my social and I did not want to give this info.  So she met me half way, and it was clear she already had it.

During our convo she kept putting me on hold to speak with her "attorneys" and less then a few seconds later she was back on the phone with their answer.  She gave me 3 options to pay.  She said she was extremely surprised that the "attorneys" would offer such a deal.  Mind u my debt was around 350 and change, she had informed earlier that the debt was up to 1300 plus because of fees and such.  Options were a settlement at about half the price to be paid in a months time, settlement plus 300 in lawyer fees to be settled in 3 monthly payments, or the entire amount in 6 monthly payments.  I informed her I did not have the money and she put me on hold to speak to the attorneys to get me more time.  2 seconds later she informed me they were willing to give me 24 hours.  She would call me back the next day.  

I never did receive that call back, I may still.  If I do not, it may be because I mentioned that I had done research and they come up in a lot of "scam" info.  I also forgot to mention when I asked the woman who answered what company I was calling she said "I do not know, I just answer the phone".  

After much research and thanks to them telling me the date of my old debt I found that the statute had run out a few months back.  So these people who are serving me with papers are not in the rights.  Lucky for me Erika was able to stop them from serving them, because they were on their way when I called.  Imagine the timing!  :P

I realize I have a debt out there from years ago, but I was young and stupid with a credit card and no money.  I've grown up since and dont have any credit cards now.  If I cant afford it, I dont get it.  I learned the hard way, but it will not happen again.  I am for darn sure not giving these "Junk debt buying scums" any of my money.
