I received the same thing, I tried to call the company, no luck....recording, please leave a msg.  So I called the company I owe and asked for the main number to the corporate office, I explained my situation and the lady told me that this was happening to a lot of people the last two weeks, not to worry.  Its only civil, they cant get you for criminal intent to defraud like I was repeatedly told and forced to make a payment in a few days, and to pay every other week until paid off or I would be charged.  The guy who originally called was rude and would not answer my questions, nor would he provide me with any legal documentation! Please dont fall for this, as I am a single mom and every penny counts, was checking this out before I made a payment and I am so glad I found this site! Thank you!

A Process Server Job is to SERVE you!! That is how they get paid. They are not going to call and warn you before they come that will be taking a risk of getting hurt or something!! This is a scare tactic. You can not be arrested for an unpaid debt!! That is CIVIL unless they can prove that you intended to defraud the company!! If i was you If they tried to get money in the begining from using a scare tactic or they got very frustrated when you asked questions I will not deal with them. Because it is your money and you have the right to ask any questions you feel necessary!!!

Hello to everyone out there who is going through the same things I am going through with these collection agencies.  First off let me start off by saying they are out to use the scare tactic to get paid.  They know that no one wants their employer or co-workers to know about their business so they break the privacy laws and inform the employers of your personal information. I have had United Recovery Solutions to call me on my job and I told them to call me on my cell phone after my work hours and not to call my job. When a collection agency breaks that rule after you have told them not to call they must honor your request and not call.  If they continue record some of the calls so if you happen to have to go to court about this you will be able to show how they repeatedly harrassed you and the tables can be turned.  A lot of the RUDE collection agencies have class action suites out on them because of the way they do business. Just keep in mind that you can not be arrested on your job or anywhere because of an unpaid DEBT!!!!!  That is CIVIL not CRIMINAL!!!!! the only way it is considered to be criminal is if they can prove that you borrowed the money with INTENT to defraud the company.  I know off hand UNITED RECOVERY SYSTEMS WITH THEIR RUDE SELVES!! will continue to harrass you on your job saying that they are sending out a process server. Just call your Attorney Generals office and report them and find out from them what are your options.  A process server is not going to call you before he or she come out to serve you. If so they are taking the risk of getting hurt.  It is not a Process servers job to warn you and help you come to an agreement with the collection agency.  They will use this tactic. They will have someone in the same office with them call you from a phone using an APP that will allow them to use a local number where you are to make you think that they are close to you. dont fall for this. If the person say that they are a process server and has been assigned to serve you then just tell them to come and serve you and you will gladly go to civil small claims court with them and get set up on a payment plan smaller than what they are seeking!!!!

I just got four calls in rapid succession from a number in my area code (Dallas Metroplex) that I did not recognize.  After the fourth call that I pressed "Ignore" on, they left a message.  A man identified himself as "Jose Lopez" and said they needed to contact me to verify my residence and place of work so they could serve papers.  Said there were several motions pending against me - told me to call 1-888-499-2268.  Needless to say, I did not call...

I received a similar threat/phone call.  The first call was from a "Process Server" using a local phone number.  They left a message stating that I had a claim against me and they were going to serve me papers.  I had one chance to call a mediation company to settle the matter before they showed up at my door.  I called the mediation company (United Mediation) and they said I defaulted on a loan in 2009 and they needed me to give them a credit or debit card to take care of it.  I called their bluff and started asking them for all kinds of information - the person I was talking to's name, extension, the name of the company, the state they're located in, the address, the fax number.  They got REALLY frustrated with me and said they couldn't give me their address or fax number.  Then I asked for the name and number of the "Process Server" so I could set up a meeting to get my "legal documents" and they said they didn't know how to contact them.  I live in Texas and it sounds like they go after people all over the US.  There isn't a single thing they can do to you.  Tell them you need as much information about them and their company as you can get so you can contact the State Attorney and they may back off.  My phone hasn't rung in two days!  It's all a scare tactic - don't let them intimidate you!

There is another part to this I need to add. If you don't provide the information that they want then this other person calls using this phone number 518-480-7350 acting as a process server. I do plan on getting in touch with the state attorney and letting them know what is going on.

I also got a call from these jerks. They called my job after they were told not to call. They called my cell phone using threatening and scare tactics. They don't know that I do background checks and I find that not only are they not listed anywhere but also the number is toll free. They are also using another number to call and harass people. I owe on a couple of paydayloans to which I am paying off. I checked my debit card and see that they have'nt touched it yet. I'm waiting on them to mess with my account. I need information on how to find out if this company is legitimate.

They call from a local number and say they are going to serve you at work. They say it is for mediation for something? Scam.

yes they do, just do what I did, thell them you will see them in small claims court, and they will receive no more than five dollars per month from court orders based on your current financial situations, and if they continue to threanten you with jail time or any form of law enforcement involvement, tell them that you will be waiting for them to call the "law enforcement", because there is no such thing, and I am studying Criminal Justice, and my professor told me that just ignore them and there is nothing they can do other than taking you to a small claims court, unless there is evidence of criminal activity.
