What is Phishing?
Phishing is an attempt by an individual or group to solicit personal information from unsuspecting users by employing social engineering techniques. Phishing emails are crafted to appear as if they have been sent from a legitimate organization or known individual. These emails often attempt to entice users to click on a link that will take the user to a fraudulent web site that appears legitimate. The user then may be asked to provide personal information such as account usernames and passwords that can further expose them to future compromises. Additionally, these fraudulent web sites may contain malicious code.

Got a text message from yoljtv@fmb.com to call 8885102724 about my debit-card being deactivated.  I don't have a card with Farmers And Merchants Bank

I just got my first one of these.  I have AT&T.  Any way to block?  The from number is 313131.  Very confusing.

I got the same message and I called my cell phone carrier (sprint) and they didn't care too much.  She said "you have unlimited text" as if that fixes the problem.  She didn't even tell me how to block the messages.

I tried responding STOP to the texts but I only get a mailer demon and they keep coming more frequently. I just added them to my block text list so we will see how that works.

Blocking SMS Text Messages For Sprint Customers:
To block messages, specific phone numbers, email addresses or email domains, sign on to My PCS. Select My Online Tools > Text Messaging > Settings and Preferences. You will find the option to block messages in the section entitled "For SMS Text Messaging Only".

i can block texts with sprint pcs online tools but they keep changing numbers and email addresses.

for some reason i cannot easily do this for my second line as i have to call customer service.

To block this:  go to the sprintpcs website.
Under text messages, click on manage texts, and enter the domains that you want blocked.  ie. wescom.org, suneast.org, fmb.com and click save changes.

SCAM ALERT!!!  I do NOT nor have I ever had an account with Farmers & Merchants Bank and I have received the following SCAM texts on my Sprint cell phone.  

This came as a text from Farmers & Merchants Bank advising that:
1. has suspended your access to our banking services... call 866-608-6900
2. has deactivated your DebitCard... call 206-691-8142
3. your 5403-13xx-xxxx-xxxx DebitCard has been SUSPENDED...  call 888-534-7944
4. your Debit-Card has been deactivated... call 888-510-2724
5. your FMN account has been blocked and placed under IRS review... call 866-720-6282
6. your 5403-13xx-xxxx-xxxx DebitCard has been BLOCKED... call 888-505-5780


Obviously they are going systematically through phone numbers and sending out this text, hoping to nab a few gullible people.  

Please spread the word of the scam.

Ive been getting them for 2 weeks

I have also been getting these for the past 2 weeks. I seem to be getting them everyday. First they came from different addresses @fmb, and now they are from different addresses @suneast.org. The last one came in about 10 min ago from yjwbk@suneast.org.
This is getting REALLY annoying! >=/

I have been getting these as well, but from an email address - gcddvw@suneast.org, tzsint@suneast.org, etc. This is extremely annoying! I will have to call Sprint.

my wife and I have been receiving this also for the past 2 or 3 weeks.

I've also been getting these text messages, for about 10 days now. Called Sprint. They are well aware of the problem, which are also going to customers of Verizon and ATT and other carriers.

As I don't have a text message plan, they gave my account a 100-text credit, so that I don't have to pay for these junk texts.

I am reposting this message for each phone number I recived a text message from in order to help inform others and help prevent people from losing their identities.

I have received about 12 text messages since June text messages all supposedly from Farmers and Merchants Bank. Each time they request that I call back their toll-free number, which constantly changes, in order to reactivate a debit card.  It's driving me insane. They are wasting my text messages and it's a blatant scam. My phone is from Sprint, too. I've called them and they can't seem to block anything.  My guess is they sold our numbers to a variety of companies and now we're getting screwed.

I called 4 of their numbers last night from a pay phone. One came up as disconnected, the other 3 said service was unavailable.

I have been getting these calls for a week now. Check out Farmers and Merchant Bank website - call the customer service number and it explains that this is a hoax.

THEY WILL NOT BE STOPPED UNTIL THEY ARE ARRESTED AND THAT WON'T HAPPEN UNTIL EVERYONE GETTING THEM REPORTS THEM!  THE SAME DAY THEY OCCUR - they change the numbers constantly

Text message from this number as well as from 888-7944, 866-720-6282 and 888-505-5780 all from Farmers and Merchants bank regarding a credit or debit card.  How can I stop these messages?  Have reported all to SpringPCS @abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com. Called Sprint and they say they cannot block the number.

Scam. I don't have a Farmer Merchants bank debit card; yet, I have been receiving this text messages telling to call them back. What a Scam!

I have been getting these texts as well, ranging from the account being suspended, the card being blocked, to the IRS placing me under review and they are all fake - I don't have and have never had an account with them.

I have received 4 test messages from 888 phone numbers including 888-510-2724.  At first I ignored it because I have never had a Farmers and Merchants Bank account.  They have also claimed to be Wescom Credit Union--I have never had a Wescom Credit Union account.  I called my cell phone carrier and they provided me with a 4 digit code to block any fmb.com text messages.  I will call the fraud division on Monday.

I got a fraud text since I don't have a FMB account to call the 888-510-2724 number as well. Make sure your phone company isn't charging you to receive these fraud messages.

Me too. I received the same message several times, but with a different number to call each time.

A reply to them stating that I don't even have an account with them doesn't stop the texts

How did you make it to stop or did you?

I AM SO ANNOYED BY THESES FMB TEXTS.

I just had 3 messages on my cell, same as the others here. I have no accounts with Farmers and Merchants Bank. These were all after hours text messages, the banks will be closed tomorrow for the 4th of July.
I'll be calling their fraud hotline on Monday.         (562) 344-2350 (Monday?Thursday, 9am?5pm, Friday, 9am?6pm, Saturday, 9am?12pm, PST)

I got several text messages "Your Farmers and Merchants debit card has been deactivated to reactivate call 888 510-2724"

One text message said the account had been deactivated by some kind of IRS action.

I never had a Farmers and Merchants bank account so I didn't pay much attention to the text messages until they became annoying. When I finally called back the number I got dead air. I hope I don't get charged a huge amount of money for calling that number!!

Text message:

"Your Farmers and Merchants Bank Debit-Card has been Deactivated. To reactivate call 8885102724."

This is the fourth such text message I have received from these people. There's a different call-back number each time.
