I was on the phone with rhonda roberts and she told me that i wouldnt have to worry about a place to live and to find someone to look after my kids. she then told me to have more babies so i can get more wel-fare. I am a single hard working mother of four with a college degree, far from needing to be on welfare but who is she to  judge me. I had my attorney office call for her and she would not come to the phone, instead the phone hung up....its bs.......

Repeated (almost daily) calls from this number are made to my cell phone (which is on the DNC registry) in regards to "some papers that must be served to me".

I do not answer the calls which show in caller ID as "0000", but the message they leave tell me to call the above number.

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I started getting calls from Wanda Roberts but 1st she called from 888-200-9171. She got my info and then the number was suddenly blocked. Then she called me again from a new number claiming it was a new carrier. Her number now is 88-323-5921. Is this company legit or is it a scam?

Been receiving these calls from this number for almost 9 mos. and cannot stop them.  I am report to the attorney generals office now but can not get them to stop calling my place of employment.  There is a new name now going by Alan Shaw and the number is not 888-323-5921.  This harrassment is unfortunate and tiresome.  Wish that someone could stop them.

If anyone gets a call or talks to anyone from this number, do not listen to anything they are saying...this is a scam.  I have a disability and these people called me one day and I nearly had to go to the hospital because they made me so upset and nervous.  I called the police, the FTC, and the Attorney General....reported them, .the Attorney General's office told me that no one is allowed to threaten me with serving me or taking me to jail.  My advice is don't even answer the phone....somehow they are getting information from a very old payday loan loan (which you probably already paid yrs ago, and may not even remember) and they are trying to scare you into giving them a credit card number over the phone....They call from different numbers, using the same script.  I went online and saw that this is one of the latest schemes....calling up people, especially those old and disabled and scaring to death to pay....look up payday loan scams of collectors online ...this happened to me two months ago and now the same people are calling me from this number, or an "unavailable" number...don't even answer, and warn your loved ones of this in case they are called...

They called my work at an extension I had years ago. Was a pre-recorded mesage from a Josh Griffin saying I am to be served papers at work or my residence. I called back and the lady (who sounded like she smokes 5 packs a day) was so sweet at first. "Oh honey, yes we do have your file. You are being served by National City Bank for check fraud". When I asked for more information and told her my debt with NCB was dismissed in my bankruptcy two years ago (for bogus overdraft fees, NOT anything having to do with check fraud!) she spoke over me and now her sweet tone was malicious and said "sorry, but that doesn't dismiss charges of check fraud. We will have to serve you and you can ask your questions in court. You have a nice day." and she hung up on me! WTF? I reported them to the FTC and want to send a Cease letter to them but cannot find an address. Go figure. This place is bogus and using unlawful scare tactics. DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY OR GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION! Complete scam artists!!!

Just received a phone call from these people. They contacted my brother and told him that they were going to serve me a summons for a payday loan from 2009. When I called I asked to see if they could verify the company and couldn't and they didn't even tell me it was a attempt to collect a debt. (which they have to)
The women I spoke to was very rude stating that I needed to pay this today or there will be a sheriff coming to my door to arrest me. I told her that I want to clear the debt but she wouldn't accept anything besides a
western union money order. Then she became totally irate saying i was a piece of you know what and that i was just another white honky **** that doesn't like to pay her bills. It's funny to because I recorded the phone call. SO if they do happen to summons me I have a recorded phone call advising Rowling & Miller refusing to take a payment from me the "plantiff" Along with the fact that they didn't advise that this was a attempt to collect a debt. All the information they had on my was from 4 years ago.
They say they are out of ATL? Funny I cannot find them anywhere. I do not plan on paying them until I receive a letter from them advising whatever it is I owe. And they couldn't even provide that.
SO I listed there number with the FBI database for fraud.
