What is Phishing?
Phishing is an attempt by an individual or group to solicit personal information from unsuspecting users by employing social engineering techniques. Phishing emails are crafted to appear as if they have been sent from a legitimate organization or known individual. These emails often attempt to entice users to click on a link that will take the user to a fraudulent web site that appears legitimate. The user then may be asked to provide personal information such as account usernames and passwords that can further expose them to future compromises. Additionally, these fraudulent web sites may contain malicious code.

I keep getting two texts a day from these jerks.  I don't have an account either, and each text has a different phone number on it.  I don't have a text plan and get zapped with a fee on each text.
How can I report it, and where do I report it to?

Since Thursday, I have gotten 9 text from these jerks... Its the same thing as the complaints above, I dont even have an account with Farmers and Merchants.  How can I get this to stop?? Every text has a different call back number and when I call them, I can never get anyone to answer... so annoying

The same exact thing has been continously happening to me. I recieve a text message saying: Your Farmers and Merchants bank account has been deactivated. Call 405-445-5188. The text message was from ttpzni@messaging.sprintpcs.com. This is not the first text meassage I have recieved and it's always from different numbers and differnet numbers to call to reactivate my account.
888-490-1578;888-502-0874;888-505-5780;866-7206282. And I did call 888-490-1578 which was a wrong number and a completely different company. It was a rental truck company I called.

I received a text from someone claiming to be from Farmers and if I wanted my Debit Card reactived to call.  I don't even have a Farmers and Merchant Card.

I get the same message on both my wifes phone and mine,daily. The bummer is that my phone does not have unlimited text, so it is costing me.  But I have come across an alternative and solution. SCAM ALERT!!!  I do NOT nor have I ever had an account with Farmers & Merchants Bank and I have received the following SCAM texts on my Sprint cell phone.  

This came as a text from Farmers & Merchants Bank advising that:
1. has suspended your access to our banking services... call 866-608-6900
2. has deactivated your DebitCard... call 206-691-8142
3. your 5403-13xx-xxxx-xxxx DebitCard has been SUSPENDED...  call 888-534-7944
4. your Debit-Card has been deactivated... call 888-510-2724
5. your FMN account has been blocked and placed under IRS review... call 866-720-6282
6. your 5403-13xx-xxxx-xxxx DebitCard has been BLOCKED... call 888-505-5780


Obviously they are going systematically through phone numbers and sending out this text, hoping to nab a few gullible people.  

Please spread the word of the scam.

Is everyone complaining either a sprint or nextel member?  if so, then someone must have hacked THEIR systems to get our numbers.

All involved an alleged Farmers and Merchants Debit Card (I don't have one, BTW).

Pls... do NOT return the call or otherwise reach the sender.  File a complaint with your carrier (Sprint, Nextel) AND contact your state attorney general's office and file a complaint.

To stop this (at least try to) log in to your sprint website, go to block text messages and add the whole domain (fmb.com)

Or call sprint and ask them to do that for you.

if you add just the email address shown in your las email it won't work because the spammer changes it every time.

I'm reposting this message for each phone number I get texts from to help those trying to stop this madness.


I have received about 12 text messages since June text messages all supposedly from Farmers and Merchants Bank. Each time they request that I call back their toll-free number, which constantly changes, in order to reactivate a debit card.  It's driving me insane. They are wasting my text messages and it's a blatant scam. My phone is from Sprint, too. I've called them and they can't seem to block anything.  My guess is they sold our numbers to a variety of companies and now we're getting screwed.

I called 4 of their numbers last night from a pay phone. One came up as disconnected, the other 3 said service was unavailable.

Uh I am getting them twice a day.

Text message from this number as well as from 888-510-2724, 866-720-6282 and 888-505-5780 all from Farmers and Merchants bank regarding a credit or debit card.  How can I stop these messages?  Have reported all to SpringPCS @abuse@messaging.sprintpcs.com.

A text message from cwfqju@fmb.com and the message reads "Your Farmers And Merchants Bank 5403-13XX-XXXX-XXXX DecbitCard has been SUSPENDED. To reactivate call 8885347944" this was the most recent text and I recevied it on July 7, 2009 at 4:35 pm.

I AM GETTING TEXT MESSAGING SEVERAL TIMES A DAY ON MY TWO SPRINT TELEPHONES FROM 888 534 7944.  I HAVE THREATENED REPORTING THEM TO THE AG BUT THE MESSAGES KEEP ON COMING

the email or text is comming from a variation of users with the ending always @fmb.com.  This most recent text came from iglmlx@fmb.com, the one previous from oqmjht@fmb.com

BS hoax, do not give them your card number to "verify".  Also, I don't know why it is directed to Sprint Cell customers.  Has a list of customer numbers been sold?  This is the second scam that has come across Sprint numbers this year.

I just called sprint and they just gave me the runaround. Keep calling them and complaining. I tried to cancel.

I'm getting them too on my Nextel aka Sprint.  I don't have a text plan, so I get charged on each text they send me.  I HATE THIS, it should be illegal, but don't know where to turn for action.

I keep getting the same text messages.  I think I've received 5 or so in the past couple of weeks.  I also have Sprint.  I got one in my aol account, and realize that Sprint has my email address too.  Really annoying, especially if only Sprint customers are having this problem.

I keep getting text messages on my cell phone telling me to call 888-534-7944 to re-activate my debit card. This is a scam and I get these  messages every few days. How do I stop it???
