This number 888.604.8394 called my business phone looking for a Chanda Russell and the she needed to call back on 8/16/13 at 11:00 to discuss a case being filed against her. Well I looked her up in our company directory and we dont have a Chanda Russell here. Hmmmm - how did they get my direct number when my voice mail clearly states my full name. "IDIOTS". Anyway the phone interview is to be with Anthony Carigan-(i guess thats the spelling). For sure a SCAM! People are so desperate for money these days they will go to great lenghts just to rip off anyone they can. I truly hope people don't really believe that these scammers can do anything to them.

Apparently Cathy did do her research, she called her county and no such name was found not even the phone number!! Maybe you should learn how to read also before you run your mouth!!!! and to your reply about being responsible and paying our bills, again before running your mouth how dare you tell us to be responsible look who fell behind on her payments and is is trying to get ahold of these scam artist, see things happen and life is not  perfect like we wish it would be people lose their jobs and things come up and some thing are more important to address than certain bills so those get put on the back burner and will be paid later on. So before you go calling someone not responsible, maybe you should look at your situation first and ask your self what made you fall behind on your bill?!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've received 2 threatening calls this week from a representative claiming attempt to collect a dept I owed! They stated that a claim would be filed & had personal info such as SS # & bank info! Threaten I would be charged with bank fraud on behalf of the bank institution!  I researched & found that this is not a legitamit  agency & it is illegal for them to leave personal data on a VM system! A legit & reputable collection agency/company would not leave personal info on a VM! This is a complete SCAM!!!!!!

I just got a call from this number. They stated that I had an appt with there attorney for a phone interview. I've never spoke to anyone at this number or company, I would have thought it was an error until they left my Social security number on a generic voicemail. My phone number is not listed under my name or social.  I referred there voicemail and phone number to my attorney.  Giving this company any money I would think to be a terrible idea. They just leave your personal information out there for who ever to here. Only a matter of time before theyre shut down for in proper conduct.

I received a threatening phone call from these  people saying if I don't take care of  an alleged debt, I'd be served with court papers. First of all in the state of Texas it is not illegal to owe a debt. When I stated that fact, they replied "thats not true. We've never heard of that".  They  continued to say papers will be filed. When I told them I work for the courthouse and would look forward to receiving them I was Hung up on.

I've since seeked legal advice. Was told to send a cease and desist  to this company. They can no longer contact you without violating your rights, at which point you can sue. I doubt I'll hear from these unique individuals again.

First you need to see what laws are in your state, Most states require a surety bond or license in order to collect on a debt. In TX they have to have a surety bond, go to SURETY BOND LOOK UP in TX and enter their info, BUT they do not have one therefore they can not even collect on a debt in TX. They are not going to serve you they are lying on that. They are in NY they are just scaring you to see if you will pay them. Need to look if they can COLLECT THE DEBT in your state not serve...pretty sure they cant

I gotta call saying that they were giving me 24 hrs to respond or papers would be served in the county I live in. I did call and she said I was lucky I had called as the original person that called was not there today so it hadn't been processed. Said I owed 1028.00 to Seaside payday even though the loan was only 300.00.. I had accrued 300 percent interest as that is what I signed. She said she could work out a 6 month payment plan for I think it was roughly 178.00 a month with 50.00 down now on my debit card, so I started questioning her and she sad that I was being, quote"sh..ty" with her and if I didn't agree to this I could take it up with the judge. So, since I actually believed her I gave her my debit card and she charged 56.25 as she forgot to tell me the 6.25 was a processing fee. She wouldn't tell me the name of the company, so when I checked my account online Audubon Financial were the people. I am going to the bank Monday and have my debit card # changed and let the bank know this is a scam... What other actions should I take?..Thanks for any help...

Melissa we all know you are full of it like this company is full of it. They are liars and scam artist, they have nothing to do with the original credit, they merly bought this debt at pennies on the dollar and now are trying to profit off of it. Do your own research and you will see that their shady practices are all over the internet and I pray no one else falls victim to these liars. Heck they are not even licensed or bonded in states to collect on debts, they are illegally trying to collect on a debt. Sooo scurry on now and re-research them and sorry you paid that was your fault...oh wait you work for them you didnt pay a dime you just come on here and lie because that is what you are paid to do!!!

New Twists to Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C. February 21, 2012

FBI National Press Office (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) continues to receive complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. As previously reported in December 2010, the typical payday loan scam involves a caller who claims the victim is delinquent on a payday loan and must make payment to avoid legal consequences.

Callers pose as representatives of the FBI, ?Federal Legislative Department,? various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies and claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, or other Internet check-cashing services. The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment in attempts to obtain payment. The callers refuse to provide information regarding the alleged payday loan or any documentation and become verbally abusive when questioned.

The IC3 has observed variations of this scam in which the caller tells the victim that there are outstanding warrants for the victim?s arrest. The caller claims that the basis of the warrants is non-payment of the underlying loan and/or hacking. If it?s the latter, the caller tells the victim that he or she is wanted for hacking into a business? computer system to steal customer information. The caller will then demand payment via debit/credit card; in other cases, the caller further instructs victims to obtain a prepaid card to cover the payment.

The high-pressure collection tactics used by the fraudsters have also evolved. In one recent complaint, a person posed as a process server and appeared at the victim?s job. In another instance, a phony process server came to a victim?s home. In both cases, after claiming to be serving a court summons, the alleged process server said the victim could avoid going to court if he or she provided a debit card number for repayment of the loan.

If you are contacted by someone who is trying to collect a debt that you do not owe, you should:

   Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
   Contact your bank(s) and credit card companies;
   Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
   If you have received a legitimate loan and want to verify that you do not have any outstanding obligation, contact the loan company directly;
   File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C. December 07, 2010

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

   Notify your banking institutions.
   Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
   Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
   File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

   Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
   Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
   Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
   Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
   Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
   When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements.

I got 2 calls from this number yesterday. They left me a voicemail, saying that they wanted to make an appointment to serve me papers???? So I returned the call... Wanted me to verify my info ( which I didn't do). They new who I banked with, that scares me. So they told me who I owed money too and were willing to set up payment arrangements! When I asked for paper verification the gave me their website. I told them that I googled the number and it came up as a scam, well that pissed them off. They said that once this hit my county my license would b suspended!!! Really for a payday loan!!!!  I called the business they said I owed.....they had no account for me!!!   So this is a total scam , don't pay a damn thing !!

Just got one of these calls on voicemail.  They invoked the name of my bank.  Said something about the county I live in and also used the last four of my social.  I have 72 hours to contact them before they take everything I have, including revoking my drivers license!!  HaHa.  I called my bank and the gal I got on the line looked them up and found this site and also called them and got only evasions.  One time one of these scams called me and said I would be arrested the very next day if I didn't give them the name of my lawyer.  They funneled my call to various people who all try to convince me of the error of my ways.  They finally gave up when I said "Do what you have to do!"  Someone tried the other day and said she wanted to talk to me.  I started grilling her.  She said she couldn't talk to me until she verified my address.  I said "You have it right there in front of you.  I'm not verifying anything."  She hung up.  You have to dish it back to them.  The best bet is not to answer these calls, if possible.

I just received a call from that same number 8886048394 this past Friday. The representative name who called me was sky Lawlary and I was informed there is a civil judgement against me she also stated the last 4 digits of my social security number and said they will contact my job and also serve me some papers to appear in court. This is not the first time something like this has happened to me. Lots of them get very irate over the phone because I questioned them like what's their name where are they located and what type of company are they. They try very hard to get you the pay them. They would even threatened to come to your job and house and have you arrested.
If they contact you what you should do is ask questions like what's the name of the company, where are they located, take the name of the representative who is talking to you,  and the time they called,  you can document this every time they call you and you can go to your local police station and file a suit for harassment.
