Kept receiving calls from this number with robot messages left on VM.  I knew I did NOT have any outstanding debts, but I finally called them.  They only told me I owed a debt.  That had no details, etc.,  but it was from 2006.  Well, I told them if they could not give me details to prove I owed this debt, I wasn't going to pay it, and asked them why were they called outside statue of limitations?

I had a message on my machine related to q a case number and a person that does not live at my house. I called them back to tell them that they had the wrong number but I got a recording that stated that I had won a free trip to the Bahamas just for calling in today... I hung up.  What a bunch of dirt bags!

My husband received a letter from these people with a case number letting him know they were going to charge him for 135.69. The address on the letter goes to the UPS store. I checked the walking view on the map and I see no credit star around the Ups store.

That's reassuring. Now you'll be able to give us all their info. Like their actual physical address.
You won't post a damn thing. You're a Shill & you work for frauds. Which means YOU are a FRAUD!

I actually worked with this company, Credit Star Finance. They are a debt collection agency, I paid my debt and I received monthly statements on my account and they sent a paid in full letter once I was done making my final payment. They are not a scam.

Always ask them to send you written documentation of the debt.  If they refuse, I would tell them to take a hike.

How do you get these fools to stop calling you? BTW, US Bank is a real bank. Mostly in the western states. Also how do you find out if the debt is even valid. I mean they called me about something from 2006, its 2013!! Then had the nerve to tell me that I don't know what I am talking about when I said the statue of limitations.

Yup, they just called me claiming that my husband had an outstanding debt from an overdraft on an account he supposedly opened in 2004 with "U.S. Bank" (Really? Could couldn't come up with a better fake bank name than that?) I'm supposed to "validate the account" by calling this number, and if I don't do it today they're sicking the lawyers on us. Thank god I'm not that gullible.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

I keep getting calls from 888-662-1779 providing a case number (368881) and asking for Charles Williams Jr.  I called to ask who they were and they would not tell me.  I told them to take us off the list.  They kept asking leading questions, such as, he is your son correct?  You don't want him to get in trouble do you?   It appeared they were trying to get me to pay a bill.  They refused to identify themselves.

By the way, just did some checking.

this phone number comes back (in Google) to an entity named Credit Star with a limited online webpage at the following:

https://creditstar.123fastpay.com/Contact.aspx

The company does NOT exist in records maintained by the Secretary of State's Office in NY;

The address given, comes back to a UPS Store.

Don't let these people scare you or take your money.

Good Luck!

Anyone receiving calls from these clowns, please do three things:

1)  Please read the comments posted on the link below, which pertain to a group who use various names and scams to frighten you into making a quick payment to avoid court cases and court costs etc. They change names and phone numbers often, but it appears that this number is their current telephone.  The comments and information posted on this attorney's site are going to be helpful and insightful to you.

http://www.fdcpa.me/united-states-civil-claims-department/

2)  Please contact your local police, sheriff, State Attorney General or the FBI and INSIST on making a complaint.

3)  Do NOT give them any information or pay them anything.

Received multiple calls from telephone number 631-247-9920 in less that 15 minutes.  Answered due to tired of my phone ringing off the hook.  I stated to the lady that answered that I was at work and could not talk at this time.  She asked me if I had a lunch break and I told her that I normally work through lunch.  She gave me 888-662-1779 to call back and a case number.
