I have this company calling me saying I owe them money in which I already took care of years ago. They say they are going to summon me to court. It's been 2 years since I thought I took care of the matter but now I find out that it was all a scam. The world we live in is so scary.

This company has called and threatened me repeatedly, claiming to be collecting for a debt I owe.  They have called my job and my family also making threats.  

This company is a SCAM claiming to be a group attorneys and state prosecuters, calling claiming that I have a case number for writing "worthless" checks. When I ask what the bad check was for, they tell me an EFT for a payday loan. They refuse to provide me with a company address or office location or any legitimate verification of the debt. They have threatened arrest. They have called past employers and relatives of mine. They did an unauthorized background check and used my social security number to pull my credit report. They looked up my business phone number online and call me there too, even claiming to personally know some of my clients. I was initially contacted in March of 2014 by "Dolores Bryce" who gave me her number 866-747-4309 ext 226.  After having my attorney contact her twice, the phone calls stopped for about 3 weeks. Now I have someone who goes by the name Alejandro Williams calling me- my phone shows it as a restricted call, but he tells me to call him back at 855-254-0812. They will not honor my request to stop contacting me and people that I know. I've told them they are violating FDCPA in every way possible. This is clearly a scam company. I have searched them on the internet and found many complaints! They tell me I can pay over the phone or it will cost about 5 times as much in court. DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY AT ALL! No matter what they know about you. It's nothing but a scare tactic.

So ive been getting calls from URG offices last couple months regarding a payday loan from a few yrs ago. I called my attorney and had him check out URG, and just letting everyone know they're DEFINITELY a scam!! They won't send any validation of debt via mail, their so called "manager" told me he would even give me a fake mailing address so people can't come show up. My attorney advised me to tell them if they contact me, my work, or parents, that i would call the police. Unfortunately, i was dumb enough to give them my SS before checking them out so now i have to change all my accounts. But just letting EVERYONE know do your research, and if its serious i would call an attorney because i almost paid $350 to some scam. Im pissed and hopefully these guys get caught!

I have received a call from this company, United Receivable last year and I did owe a debt so I paid it but 4 months later another company called. This other company (RSB Equity Group) said that I owed a debt and again I paid not remembering that I paid the first time. Again 2 or 3 months later another company (ARS/AFS) called and I said wait i already paid this and had the letter to prove it. While looking for the letter I found the other paid memo and informed them that not only do i not owe them but the company was paid twice. Yet again i received another call collecting for the same company and said look you people have received enough money from me, loose my number.

Yes that's great that you are so perfect but you don't know everyone 's financial problems that maybe a  person lost their job or a sickness nobody likes to have unpaid debt but bad things happen to good people to.

There also using 855-554-1208 and 855-258-1036 they also been harassing me to.saying they are going to seize my vehicle and bank account  when I asked for their business license number and address the woman just kept talking about bin number they had type of vehicle and so on when I told her I didn't care about that I just wanted the address and license number she just say I will get to that after I and just kept talking so I hung up.never got a address.but I think I'm going to I'm going to keep calling and harassing them until they give the information I'm asking for.

I been getting the same calls from a man who claims to be a collector for URG he said I had 2-3 hours to make a one time payment or the police will be knocking on my door he insisted I give him my credit card info after I told him I didn' t have no money he became rude and told me I would be arrested on my job & see you in court he said

When I called back I let them know the phone call was being recorded. When they asked if I knew the person I told I would not answer them if I did. How am I to know who they are? They are belligerent and trained to harass. 1 Call looking for someone? OK. I get that. But after that all that should be done is to ask to be removed from their list and they should immediately honor that. Beyond that its harassment. Who are these people specifically?

I received a call for Kim Jones they have changed there number it is now 866-413-4039 ext.322 this company is a scam and I'm getting a lawyer involved as well as my bank not to mention how rude,threating,and nasty they are. Kim wouldn't even give me an address a FAX number nothing so off to court I go. Also I call everyday asking for there information.

i like the f**got that identifies himself as a pa  state trooper who called my 12 year old grand daughter.  only stupid thing was that the name he gave me showed him as being a pervert on the pa state police web site.  his name was eli by the way.  when i ask him if he was trying to do the same thing to my grand daughter that he did to his own daughter, boy did he get puffy and threatend to come to my house which would make sense considering eli is a pervert.  if he comes to my house there will be 2 sounds  me hitting him and his a** hitting the floor and unlike most it wouldnt bother me to hit from behind

This company continues to harrass me and my mother.  I am going to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  I do not even do payday loans.  The number is 855-256-4037 URG is the supposed company.  

They are now using 1-855-735-4308 also... they are harassing and horrible people... I hope they get caught and put in jail!!!!

I had NOOO credit  bills unpaid.... just saying........ it is horrible that people do this !!!

Thank you for writing this.... URG told me they were  coming to get me with the authoriies.  The good thing is I owe nothing to anyone, but they still tried to bully me.

I hope that you were able to stop them they are harassing me now at my work and on my cell phone.  They are horrible and rude and mean.  I owe them nothing either. I have reported them.

This company URG calls and they say the authorities are going to come to serve me unless I pay them $333.00 right now.  They were mean and very much a bully. I explained that I owed them no money, etc. They will not leave me alone.  They call my work and my cell phone.  They are downright abusive and yelled at me when I said I would not send them any money,   The number that they use is 1-866-833-6935 ext 271. They were horrible and I did NOT owe money.  It was an old debt that had already been paid.

OK, so in interest of full disclosure I work for a collection agency.  I've always worked for collection agencies.  I do the payment processing.  HOWEVER! We aren't the illegal kind that threatens you or harasses you.  We're a legitimate company that collects on debt.  It's a lucrative business.
But I can't stand seeing posts like this.  There is plenty of money to be made legally collecting on debt.  I get calls all the time from clients of ours who have settled debt with us, gotten their paid letters that close out their account and they still get harassed by other companies.... it makes my blood boil.
The first think you should know about the standard collector:  If you hear words like investigator, legal department, process server, summons, _____ county courthouse or alike, its collections.  Straight up, run of the mill, bonus $$ driven collections.  Please don't lay awake at  night worried about the process server that's coming to your house tomorrow.  It's not happening.  

Second, the people you are speaking with are changing their names.  You're not speaking to Neil Goldstien or Sarah Lathem or even Officer Calhoun.  So don't bother trying to file complaints against people specifically, they don't exist.

Third, keep an eye out for companies that say your balance is $6trillion but the "attorneys" are willing to settle for $8.00.  Huge divides between the amount you supposedly owe and the amount they're willing to accept is a huge red flag and its probably desperate and fraudulent.

Fourth, ASK QUESTIONS!! Ask what address they have on file. Ask for banking information.  I've worked with dozens of different types of collections software, they all have spaces for banking info.  If they don't have what bank you were using at the time, its fraud or "bad paper" which means the information is probably only partly accurate (your ssn or bday) but the debt was probably paid years ago.  Don't ever be afraid to ask questions.  The one thing that I hear people doing a lot though that doesn't always prove a company is fraudulent is asking for original documentation.  A lot of times Credit Card debt or payday loans wont have actual contracts or any documentation at all other than the chain of title and that's not something that can be given out.  So don't write it off if you get a letter with your debt information but it doesn't have attachments of video of you taking out the loan or finger prints off the door handle of the bank you got the credit card from.  Sometimes its just not available.

Fifth and final.... if you feel threatened, hang up the phone or record the call.  Don't put up with it.  Usually with fraudulent companies any talk of legal action or recorded calls will send them running with their tail between their legs.  File a cease and desist letter and send/fax/email them... (google cease and desist collections template) there's TONS of them out there.  File a complaint with the attorney general of the state the collector is in.  Attorney general complaints SHUT FRAUDULENT COMPANIES DOWN! QUICKLY!

I hope this helps....oh and I've spoken with URG in the past.  Complete fraud.  Take it from someone in the trenches.  I can tell a fraudulent company from a mile away.  I've been doing this for a long time.  Do not pay them. Don't even pay them attention.  Fraud fraud fraud.

They tell everybody..you will be served...lets get something straight !!  Only a court can serve you papers!!  Only a judge can garnish your wages!!  They cannot send anybody from there company to serve you!!! there so called papers!!  These are all tactics to get you to pay...and dont pay them!! What i have read here is crazy!!  Any ligitimate debt collector would not do what i have read here!!  Holy Cow!!  Dont be afraid of them cause if they could have done anything they would have!!  Laugh at them like i did!!  If they ever send anyone!!!  Detain them for the police!!!  This company is not ligitimate!!  I have been told its a family in a house!!  Kids screaming in the backround!! and so forth.  They answer urg from a seperate phone line in the house.  Some of these bougus collectors will have some of your personal in formation to get you to pay!!  All of 2013 thats all i heard!!....we will serve you papers in 2 hours!! if you dont call.  We will send papers to garnish your wages!!  9 months!!!  and nothing!!!!  What does that tell you!!!....Enough!!!

Got a call from Agent Brown saying it is urgent, a complaint has been filed against (wait for it) my EX HUSBAND from 27 years ago who has never lived at this address or had this phone number. She prattled on something about 'complaint' 'the complaining party who has contacted my office' 'time sensitive' 'urgent'... blah blah blah. What a scam.
