The same thing is happening to us. They have called a few times over the last two years looking for my husbands ex who has never lived here or no longer lives in this state. They have been divorced for 14 years.

this phone number has been calling me for days, as many as 12 times a day, and they don't stop harassing me.

this number is from capital one credit company  ,they was calling me every day at lest 4 time ,then i called them back and they take out my number ,but still they calling me .

This past weekend, this number has called my phone 11 times and never leaves a message.  As I see from other posts in this forum, this is coming from Capital One, but I do not even have an account with them.  All I have is a state credit union from Louisiana (who's number I have in my contacts list).

they call here 20-25 times a day, everyday. My machine gets it cause it says telemarketing. My son has already talked to them told them they had the wrong number and they still call. what can be done about this.

They said they are Allied something or other, a credit company.  After calling and not leaving messages for many days, my husband answered today and the man (with a foreign accent) asked for my husband's brother.  He doesn't live here but since the last name is the same, they probably looked it up and are calling all the numbers listed to the name.  There are only about 5 in town here. Knowing my brother-in-law, I'm sure they're looking for him because of loan default.  I hope they get the creep.  Anyway, my husband told them to stop calling this number - so we'll see if that works.  I'll come back and let you know!

Calls repeatedly all times of day including weekends always same oriental female voice barely understandable,  states company is Allied Interstate /Financial Solutions,.  looking for  you or someone with same surname  The number registers as 888 748-4956 aor versions there of i.e 4957 /4958  etc. sounds like an open type sweat shop collection office, excessive chatter from the desk next to her,. phones ringing etc,.  appears to be some type of debt collection.  150,000 hits on google for Allied Intestate  26000 for Allied Interstate Financial Solutions.  Web research indicates ties to Capital One  recommend checking your credit report frequently ensure they don't have you down for some financial obligation in error!  mark  them "DO NOT ANSWER in your phone address book!  watch your CR ,check local police authorites with "economic detectives division.  Do not give them any personal information they can use against you. block thier calls.

TODAY, SO FAR, HAVE RECEIVED 6 CALLS FROM THE #. YESTERDAY I GOT 5 CALLS. THE DAY BEFORE ( Sat ) I GOT 6 CALLS. IT STARTED FRIDAY WITH 4 CALLS. I THEN CALLED BACK THE # AND ASKED FOR A SUPERVISOR AND WAS PUT ON HOLD FOR , WELL I GAVE UP AFTER 6 MINUTES.
HERE IS A SOLUTION: CALL BACK , USING ANOTHER PHONE, OR A PHONE BOOTH IF YOU ARE WORRIED THEY MIGHT CAPTURE YOUR PHONE #, AND WAIT FOR THEM TO SPEAK AND TELL THEM  "THAT EVERY TIME YOU CALL WITHOUT LEAVING A MESSAGE " THEN BLOW YOUR WHISTLE. I PREFER A METAL ONE BECAUSE THE HIGH PITCH WILL REALLY GET THEM TO NOTICE YOUR CALL. DO THIS EVERY TIME THEY CALL AND GIVE THEM THE PHONE # THEY ARE NOT TO CALL. I HAVE ENJOYED THIS ACTIVITY ALL DAY LONG. AS I WAS TYPING THIS I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL AT 3:29 PM MONDAY, OCT 4, 2010. EXCUISE ME WHILE GO GET MY WHISTLE.

I get multiple calls per day from this number, which registers on my caller ID as "Telemarketing."  The calls start early in the morning and go to late at night.  When I answer, no one is on the line.  When I have called that number myself, the phone picks up, there is background noise, but no one is on the line.  How can I stop this harassment?

CAPITAL ONE, VICTORIA SECRET AND OTHERS HAVE BEEN CALLING MY HOUSE LOOKING FOR MY SISTER WHO LIVES ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE U.S.  THESE PEOPLE HAVE ALL BEEN TOLD TO STOP CALLING MY HOUSE AND THAT I AM NOT GIVING THEM MY SISTER'S NUMBER.  THEY ACT LIKE YOUR STUPID BY TELLING YOU THAT SHE OWES THEM MONEY WHICH IN FACT SHE HAS ALREADY TOLD ME THAT SHE DOESN'T.  SHE AND HER HUSBAND HAD TAKEN OUT A LOAN FOR LAND AND I WAS USED AS A REFERENCE.  I TOLD ONE GAL THAT IF SHE HAD A C.C. WITH THEM OR OWED MONEY, THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE HER NUMBER BECAUSE SHE HAS HAD THE SAME NUMBER FOR YEARS.  DAH!  THAT BEING SAID, I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE F.C.C. AND HAVE ALSO REPORTED THIS ABUSE TO CAPITAL ONES ABUSE EMAIL LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE.  I TOLD THEM THAT I AM GOING TO EMAIL THEM EVERY TIME THEIR PEOPLE CALL MY HOUSE AND THAT I AM GOING TO CALL BACK CAPITAL ONE AND HARASS THEM BACK UNTIL THEY STOP CALLING MY HOUSE. (FIGURED THEY MIGHT GET TIRED OF ME AT SOME POINT)

Allied International - "Associated" with Capital One

I called them since their automated message didn't work right and they told me who they were searching for.  Someone I had never heard of.

They were calling a business cell phone that had been immediately entered into the Do Not Call registry upon receiving it at least a year ago so I filed a complaint with DNC.  We don't have many minutes on this phone.

They said the number would be "removed from the database."  They weren't jerks about it (unless they were lying.)

these people call 10 times a day 7 days a week.  It comes up telemarketer on my caller id.  I am on the  national No call list too.  Finally talked to them and ask who they were and they did not want to tell me who they were.  After the 3rd time of asking they finally said  they were Capitol One and never ask for anyone in paticuliar.  Told them to stop calling me and that I was going to report them for harrassment and they still have  Not stopped calling.   If they are capitol one why does it come up as telemarketer on my ID?

These people have been harrassing me for months.  Nothing works.   First of all, I do not have a Capital One credit card.  I filed a complaint with local Sheriff's Office.  Signing up with Do Not Call does not work for these people because they are not telemarketors and it does not apply to them. They are not a member of the BBB, so don't care if you report them to Better businesss Bureau.  When they stop calling you, then they call everybody that has the same last name as yours.  They have call my daughter's in-laws.   The law enforcement has informed me that these people are a scam operation operating out of the Philipines and trying to gather information on every call they make.  I was advised not to answer the phone and to tell everyone I know.  If you do have a Capital One credit card, they will ask you for the credit card number you're callling about, and if you give them that number, they have you and will max out your card before you can get off the phone, thanks to the modern age of computers.

Are you the same Glen Claston who worked on the Zodiac 340 cipher?  I am very interested to speak to you about ongoing research on this topic.  Myself and other researchers have been trying to attack the 340 cipher algorithmically, and your original research and observations about the 340 are extremely valuable.

these people don't get the hint- they have called everyday for the past month and i talked to a guy on the phone who is looking for someone who does not live with me, they said they will take my name off their list- 4 times already - they have called nine times within 3 hours and frankly it is getting very frustrating- the last time i talked to someone i let them have it on phone and threatened to file a harrasement suit against them- they automatically hung up in my face once i mentioned that- and the calls stopped for 1 week 4 days- and now they are calling again-late at night this time.. i'm about to send them a real lenghty strong worded letter and phone call, whatever it takes to stop these harrassing phone calls.I have never had a captial one card- and b/c of this I will never get one

LOVE THE WHISTLE IDEA!  ONLY I DON'T CARE IF THEY HAVE MY NUMBER.   I HAVE PERSONALLY SPOKEN TO THEM AND HAVE ASKED THEM TO STOP CALLING MY HOUSE!  IF I USE THE WHISTLE, THEY WILL REALLY HAVE A REASON TO NOT HEAR ME.   NO ONE IN MY HOUSE HAS A CAPITAL ONE CARD NOR DO I WANT ONE.
