Here's a new one: They called stating there's a missing child, gave a description of the reported child and to call the local police department if there was any information to be had. They gave the area by street name, said not to bog down the police department with questions or concerns. There was "dispatch" noise going on in the background, but the caller never identified as an Amber Alert, nor gave any information as to where the call was originating from. I knew the call was bogus when I saw the number, but decided to pick it up anyway to see what the latest b***s*** was. I may contact the local media over this one. It's a highly inventive phishing scam, IMO.

this is some bs selling crap thing about a weight loss diet liquid in the bs guise of the "market survey". asks you 2 questions "if you want to know more...press 1 for yes, 2 for no." option 2 takes you to a voice mail. just call them back and state clearly after pressing 2 that your number is to be removed from their internal call list. given that the call display reads the 888 number as name and number, it's likely an internet generated phone number so good luck acting on the dnc list.

Receive calls from this number and other similar numbers at least twice a day (I never answer of course), they always hang up before the fourth ring. Been happening for at least a month, so as a form of passive revenge, I changed my answering machine to pick up after only three rings. Now whenever they call me, the machine will pick up and waste their time, and their phone company will charge them for it. Take that!

I got a call from this number today. Seeing "Toll Free Call" on my Caller ID, I didn't answer because I knew it was some sort of telemarketer. They didn't leave a message. I called the number back and listened to their automated "survey" about their weight loss product. I pressed "2" for NO and was directed to voicemail for "Negative". I left a message with my phone number, told them that they were violating the terms of the National Do Not Call Registry, marked my message for urgent delivery, and left (202) 326-2222 as a callback number (that's the number for the Federal Trade Commission).
I called the number a second time, pressed "1" for YES (interested in hearing more), and was directed to voicemail for "Positive". I left another message, including my phone number, telling them that I was NOT interested in learning more about their product but instead was interested to know what kind of a company would be stupid enough to violate the terms of the National Do Not Call Registry. Again, I marked the message for urgent delivery and left (888) 382-1222 as a callback number (that's the number for the Do Not Call Registry's Helpline).
Maybe they'll get the clue? Probably not, but I can hope.

Good luck!

I get annoyed with these calls and have called the do not call list.
I bought a phone with a call blocker so when a call comes in with no caller ID no matter if govt, charity, or anyone I only get the call once and then it's blocked

This is a company selling weight loss products! The fact that they're doing a "survey" means they can slip through the loophole. But they're clearly a telemarketer. They're definitely NOT
-- a company I already do business with
-- a political party
-- a charity
Yes, they're doing a survey, but clearly aimed at finding customers. They even tell you the survey is about a particular product.
The no-call-list rules should specify that a survey can't be related to a product or service that someone is trying to sell. I don't know if it would help to complain about this, but it's worth a try. This "no-call list" is a pretty shoddy set up.

All you people who complain that you are on the do not call list.... did you even bother to read the fine print on who can call and who can't???!!!!!
It was targeted at telemarketers ONLY.
- companys you do business CAN call you
- policitical parties CAN call you (fun at election time)
- people doing surveys CAN call you
- charities CAN call you
Posting here and telling them to stop calling is not going to solve your problem. Reporting them to the CTRC may help... but you can't just give them a number ... you have to give them detailed information... the company, the person who called.
If you don't know who it is and you complain to the CRTC ... and it is one of the above who are allowed to called .. they are just going to laugh at you and say "someone didn't read the fine print".
If you want a charity to stop calling ... putting yourself on the DO NOT CALL list is not going to stop them from calling. You have to ask the charity to put you on THEIR do not call list.

Do you know this for sure or are you just throwing things out because you have a hate on for Bell? Can you link the phone number to Bell??? If not, your not helping us figure out who it is so we can go to the CRTC!!!

I also received a call from 1 888 787 2250 on Sept. 14. automated so-called survey. I hung up. Why should I listen to lord-knows-how-many minutes of 'survey' in order to maybe have the chance to tell them not to call back? I too have reported them to the CRTC. Hope it works!
I checked the number out on 411 Canada, and nothing matched.

They called me 4 times in 5 days. The last time they called, I pretended to be interested and when they said I could leave my name and number I told her to stop calling my number, that I reported them to the CRTC. I dunno if this will work, but worth trying. Oh, and I did report them to the CRTC a couple days ago.

We received this unwanted call on September 6th.2011 at 5:58 p.m. pretending that it was about a consumer poll but we hung up immediately.

The guilty company in all this is Bell. They reveal your phone numbers to telemarketers if you are not on their internal do not call list. Call Bell and ask to be put on their "internal" do not call list. It is not a guarantee for sure but it should help. You can also file in a complaint online to the CRTC at :
http://www.crtc.gc.ca/rapidsccm/register.asp?lang=e
Just to give you an idea about the amount of complaints regarding Bell look at this adress:
